207_gti is quiet right in doubt. Also check the fuses and relays usually throw these magical lights on.

BSI fuses are near the steering column F12 (30 A) Electric front windows, sun roof.

Check the engine oil, if its turn milky and coolant level is down you have bad news. Engine head gasket failure.

My car often cuts out during braking and if it doesn't it almost always affects the engine and power, for example the interior fan will lose speed and power and anything lit will dim. What are the possibilities and could I check/repair this myself? How do I narrow down the fault?
