  1. Well, water is actually better than coolant as a cooling agent and one can actually run car on water without any problem. However, coolant has higher boiling point (110+) than water (90-100) so when car is little low on water it heats up faster and water reduce faster due to less boiling point and cause all the trouble by over heating the car. Second reason to prefer coolant is its anti rust property that makes radiator rust free and doesn't clog the radiator cores after sometime, if you drive car with water only then in six months time car radiator will be blocked due to rust. As a mixing with coolant, or just topping up in case of emergency, or using full water in case of emergency is acceptable but you need to flush whole water and top up with coolant as soon as possible in next few days or within week time.
  2. Thanks Jasim ! appreciate it ... now i dont have to waste time elsewhere ... plus its a chance for me to learn new processes. It sounds easy to do.
  3. oh okay .. i saw a lot of different processes posted here so i thought if i could get a step by step too .. that'll be great
  4. Hello everyone, I am trying to figure out a way to change the carbon filter on my 407. its been a while and it should be really dirty. Any help would be greatt!
  5. Alternative method? this should be interesting. i never knew that there is no dipstick in the peugeot 307 ... what about the other models? anyways ... i should learn these small things too. Good post.
  6. A lot of problems are caused by faulty earths and a lot of times private mechanics change alternators just so that they can keep the old one, repair the faulty earth strap and make a quick buck or two later on. The same can be said for starter motors and batteries. So before going into panic mode, check the earthing points for a good contact.
  7. Hhmm. Could be the engine earth lead. Check if the earth strap is clean and tight from the rear to the chassis. You can remove the earths, clean them with a wire brush and re-fit them tightly. Using a little grease can be helpful too.
  8. Oh and btw ... Which air filter do you have on there? Bosch filters can cause those kinda problems. or no offence to your sister but i have noticed that cars tend to have problems sooner when they are driven by females - my wife is a first hand experience.
  9. Umm... Although I would love to hear back from you on what kind of problem you are having exactly .. the problem sounds familiar ... Have you ever tried an injector cleaner? Try Redex. Worked wonders for me.
  10. when i go up the road specially in al ain as i have to travel there on and off for projects i feel the car struggles when it goes up what can be the problem
