  1. Hey Timmy, I think Pajero is more preferable for such routes as there are many offroad spots for a some good photography or on the way stops if you are going with family. You dont have to worry about the fuel part as fuel price is half in Oman I have attached the most scenic route as per my drives to Oman. If you are travelling alone or as a couple and not interested in offloading or stopping on the way take your Merc or else with family i reckon Pajero is a must. Cheers! Drive safe.
  2. Land Rover first came to the future UAE in 1951 as the vehicle of choice for the Trucial Oman Levies, the Sharjah-based force set up by the British to protect the borders of the emirates. In the road-free days of the embryonic UAE, the vehicle quickly became the transport of choice for everyone from fishermen to royalty. In the years before the foundation of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed relied on a Land Rover for his regular excursions to far-flung desert communities — a partnership commemorated by the Land Rover that has pride of place in the courtyard of the Al Ain Palace Museum, home to Zayed until he became Ruler of Abu Dhabi in 1966. 4. In an August 2015 report, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said the UAE could generate extra revenues worth as much as 4.1 per cent of the non-hydrocarbon domestic product (GDP) by introducing a 15 per cent ad valorem tax on passenger vehicles and broadening the coverage of its corporate income tax scheme, aside from collecting a five per cent VAT.
