  1. It's not as simple as just removing the turbo come testing time. There's manifolds (intake and exhaust), oil lines, air pipes, exhaust, induction system and the ecu will have to be flashed back to standard map. It's no small job. If you're going to use wasta to get it passed, it's probably not a good idea to mention it on a public forum as a lot of people could lose their jobs. Passing aside, remember the police will pull you over and take your car if they suspect it's been modified in any way. Turbo whistle, not to mention an intercooler hanging out the front bumper is a dead giveaway. If you want a small turbo without modifying the engine, it's pretty pointless as you can only run maybe 7-8 psi before you start problems. Far easier just to fit a 50 shot of nitrous for short bursts up dunes. Read this and you'll have a better understanding of how turbocharging actually works, then you can ask more relevant questions,
  2. Literally everything with an airbag that has been built in the last 10 years is being recalled. https://www.cars.com/articles/is-your-car-part-of-the-takata-airbag-recall-1420680509675/ Takata must be making serious profit when they can shoulder the cost of this.
  3. I don't know anything about this scheme, would appreciate some more info from @Gaurav At a guess, they might operate some random secret shopper scheme. Cars with known faults are investigated and diagnosed by qualified technicians then sent into workshops to see what they come up with. Pure speculation of course. If they start to close garages with uncertified mechanics, there won't be many garages left in UAE but maybe that's a good thing.
  4. There was a topic posted about this a few months ago. The speedometer always over reads slightly. The variance is built into speedometers by the manufacturers because they don't want to be sued by someone who got fined for speeding. There are ways to change the reading but it's a lot more trouble than it's worth in the end.
  5. The reality is he won't reply. He has been exposed and is hiding. The garage has been shown to be incompetent through their massively wild, incorrect and expensive diagnosis. They have also been exposed as cheaters by wanting to fit a part which isn't even applicable to the vehicle, the throttle body servo.
  6. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck.... Try this website, www.vindecoderz.com It should tell you country and full original spec. I emphasize SHOULD. It doesn't always, but it's worth typing your chassis number in. It's free and only takes a few seconds.
  7. I don't have any license so you're doing better than me lol. I had some problems after an accident back home and got banned for 3 years. I'm planning on getting my license here this year though. I'll go for manual because it leaves the options open. Most of the cars here are auto but if I do the manual test, it means I can drive anything. If I need to hop into a van or pickup at work I'll be covered. No issues, I've been driving manual since I was 10. Hopefully after that I can get my bike test. Indecently, does anyone know what happens here if you're caught driving a manual on an auto license? Is it a real problem or just a silly 200dhs fine? I imagine the time you will find out is when someone drives into you and the police come?
  8. I can vouch for the car too. I know every nut and bolt in it. Diamond let me drive it on one of the Carnity drives and it performed beautifully on gravel, sand tracks and attacking dunes. One of the best days out I've ever had.
  9. @carsclinic you have put yourself in a very unique position here. You have the option to save yourself or hang yourself. Carnity is the largest car community in the Middle East with 13,000 forum users and 107,000 followers on Facebook. That's a possible 120,000 people who will see this, plus more if people decide to share it on their own chosen social media platforms. This could go either way for you. You can either answer the questions imposed by me earlier honestly or you can ignore them. If your computer records are as thorough as you say, them you should have no problem answering. If you ignore them, all that will be left is this evidence online for 120,000 people to see, plus anyone who decides to search for your company on google saying as Carnity is the number one option to come up under a google search of car forum.
  10. No fancy keychain here. Just keys, more keys and my trusty multifunction knife.
  11. Can you drive manual? @DiamondDallas is selling his Pajero cheap. Engine was fully rebuilt by me 6 months ago. 3.5 with overbore.
  12. @carsclinic why would anyone want to come to your garage when you have no skills when it comes to diagnosing faults in cars? Below is a copy of a quotation you gave to a carnity member. The real issue was a faulty idle control valve, a cheap and easy fix. However, you wanted to change the plug leads, coil packs, air filter, throttle body servo, upper and lower intake manifold gaskets and refurbish the injectors, all at a cost of almost 3,000 dirhams. This would have been wasted money that did nothing to address the actual problem. To anyone who knows anything about how an engine works, this is how someone operates when they can't perform simple diagnosis to find out what the actual problem is. They change every part they think could be faulty and hope the problem goes away. Which in your case, it wouldn't have. How did you know the plug leads were faulty and needed to be changed? Did you check the resistance and test for leakage? How did you test the coil packs? Do you have an oscilloscope in your garage? What was wrong with the throttle body? Or was it just a guess which it obviously seems to be. There is no servo motor on the throttle body of that particular model, it has 2 mechanical cables. Dirty air filter? Or dirty cheater too lazy to blow it out with an airline. I assume you did tested the upper and lower manifold gaskets with a smoke machine to confirm they were actually leaking? Or did you at least spray starting fluid around it and monitor engine speed? Because it's a pretty time consuming job to strip the manifold off. How do you know the injectors needed refurbished? Did you test the spray pattern and flow? Amateurs and scammers like you are what gives the rest of us decent mechanics and technicians a bad name.
  13. I never trust anyone who doesn't use proper spelling and grammar in an ad.
  14. Sorry guys I can't make it on Thursday night. I already made plans last week and I can't cancel.
  15. Hi Benny, welcome to carnity! Don't mention camshafts or oil changes and you'll fit in just fine 😂
  16. He's talking about a discovery, not a Range Rover. They're a lot simpler with less to go wrong. The biggest problem with them is rust but I doubt that's much of a problem in the gulf climate.
  17. Jeeps are simple to work on. They're like Lego.
  18. @desertdude it depends on the color of the film. The lighter colors like white, silver do have a foggy appearance. The black film is very clear, it looks like normal tint. I haven't tried any of the colored films yet like red, green etc. but I don't expect a big rush for them. The new electronic system I've designed for it uses a modified waveform and different voltage and I'm expecting good results once it's built and tested. With regards to RTA, we have put a car up for testing and there was no issues. The testers were queuing up to see it. There is however a legal issue if someone decides to drive around with it switched to 90% but for that, I am not responsible. The legal issues are explained to customers and a waiver is signed. Common sense has a big part to play. @skumar83 It rejects a certified 99% of UV light which causes skin cancer and damages the interior due to sun bleaching and 97% of infrared light which causes the heat.

    windshield repair

Windscreen resin will (should) stop any cracks from spreading. It's not a 100% repair, you will still see it slightly. If it was my car, I'd just buy a new windscreen or a good second hand one if it's available. I can change most screens in 30 minutes to an hour depending on the amount of wiring, sensors etc then it's a 3 hour wait for the bonding to cure and it's good to go. It's so easy.
  20. Anyone seen this yet? Looks like it's going to be a beast.
  21. So the mechanic doesn't even have a diagnostic scanner? I can see where this is going... New bearings or different oil pressure isn't going to bring on the engine management light. It will bring on the oil warning light if the bearings aren't installed correctly. Is the oil light working properly? It should come on when you switch on the ignition then go out almost immediately when you start the engine. If the oil light isn't working properly, the first sign of a problem you'll probably notice will be the crankshaft knocking again. If you want a proper diagnostic scan done, I have a 3rd gen launch x431 pro here.
  22. This already is the Chinese technology. Hence why I've designed a new electrical system for it lol. I know it's expensive and not for the everyday man but it has the WOW factor and is a good talking point. 10 years ago it was much more expensive. Honestly, I don't think the price will never come down to the point where you see it in corollas and tiidas but there will always be a market for it, especially in Dubai where you see more luxury super and hypercars than anywhere else. It's very labour intensive to fit too, all the glass has to be removed, I have to make the wiring looms from scratch for every car etc. then it all has to be put back together again so you can't see any wiring or any evidence that everything has been apart.
  23. It depends on the car, number of windows, size of windows etc but generally, you're talking between 6-8,000 dhs. There's big discounts available on it though. We have a few very famous customers coming up in the next few weeks so watch this space. If you're free sometime, drop by to the shop in al quoz and look at our demo car. It really is cool when you see it working in person.
  24. To me, it sounds like your mechanic is a parts fitter/helper and not a knowledgeable technician. Running in of a new engine is not related to vehicle speed, it's all to do with engine speed. If it was my car, I would keep engine revs below 3,000 for the first 1,000 km then use a good quality flushing agent then change the oil and filter. Don't let the engine idle for long periods. If the cylinder head was off, I would also flush, refill and bleed the cooling system as there could be traces of oil in it. After that, just drive normally. The engine and airbag warning lights on indicates that there is a fault. The mechanic should have scanned for codes to see what the problems were and repaired then and reset, or just reset if no further repairs were required. Warning lights don't just appear without reason and when they are illuminated, it means there is a problem.
