Good to have you back @jason200. Your name has been added to the main list. Just remind us before the drive, it is a fuse for ABS and SRS Airbag which @Barry had recommended to remove before the drive. Just know where all your fuses are located as finding your battery was a challenge. Right under the front passenger seat.

I don't think it will be as easy as just a fuse knowing Jeep and all the electronics in the Grand Cherokee ! If I take the fuse out maybe they will go off when I put it back in or the air bag light might stay on to show I have been tampering...

Does anyone know a Mechanic in the Jeep garage who would know this ?

If not I will leave them on and just take it at newbie level. Looks like a need another desert only vehicle !!

@jason200 and anyone else who is having problems with seatbelt tensioners firing on rough terrain, you can remove the SRS fuse before going off road which will disable the system. Although be aware, you will have no airbags if anything happens which may or may not be a good thing but it will save you from having to replace a lot of things if you have a little bump. Sadly, the belt tensioners are a single use only thing that cannot be repaired, once they have fired, they need replaced.

@Barrythanks for the advice. I took the car to the dealer today and they said they will replace under warranty once they check the vehicle computer. I can confirm they do 'fire' as there was a very loud bang ! Both tensioners fired in the front seats but none of the back seats. Are there tensioners on the rear seat belts also and are these a standard safety mechanism on all cars ? Why did only mine fire ?

  3. Wonderfull report @Rahimdad and wonderful photos @Gaurav

It was truly an Ultimate family adventre ! I was a little bit nervous at first due to the family in the back but with the expert guidance of @Rahimdad and @Gaurav my confidence grew and we completed the trip with ease and enjoyed some refreshments at the Quadra lakes.

Thanks to the @Carnity team again and I hope there will be another trip soon !

My wife will post some more photos.

You are most welcome to join @jason200

A Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the most capable off-roaders as the Jeep DNA runs deep into off-roading.

However if you have the newer Jeep Grand Cherokee I would recommend you remove the lower lip of the front bumper as that is a bit low and can be displaced by the sand. There are just about 4 clips which you need to remove, you can reattach it later.

Hope this is a GCC spec and has the tow hooks in case there is a stuck so that we are able to pull you out, normally American specs do not have the recovery points and make recovery difficult.

Thanks Rahimdad. Yes its GCC Spec 2015 model. I will have a closer look at the lower lip of the front bumper tonight and remove it. See you all on Friday. My number is 0505547290
