  1. @Zed I somewhat agree with @Mohamed Seidam. I had a Disco 1 and managed to damage the side steps, so removed it instead of repairing or replacing them. It turned out eCh one weighed in at 30 Kgs, total of 60 Kgs reduced. With the soft suspension of the Disco 1 the vehicle seemed to be lifted and felt lighter to drive. This is from my experience and can't guarantee you'll get the same results. If you want you can try removing and checking for the feel, you can always put them back on if you don't feel the difference. I am sure RTA will not bother if your car has the running boards or not. But beware that any bumps and damages taken by the running boards will now be taken directly on the body of your vehicle.
  2. Congratulations @Batuhan Kulac. Hope you continue to enjoy learning and polishing your off-road skills at this new level.

  11. The trip through my eyes. I'll let @Janarthan do the trip Report as ot was his drive. This is just my point of view for the drive. I was happy to see everybody reaching on time and deflating. With just 9 cars I was smacking my lips at the opportunity of an amazing drive and @Janarthan didn't let us down. We had everything from side sloping, to criss crossing, to some really soft patches in technical area, to wide open dunes. No one was spared, not even the lead, moreover the lead as he boldly took us places putting himself in nasty situations to give us an amazing morning out. Not to forget the sighting of an injured Falcon, reporting it to the Muncipality and doing our good deed for the day. My sincere thanks to @Janarthan for allowing me to sweep giving me an excellent position to watch our convoy closely. @Tbone was excellent choice as second lead to react quickly as required to stop or reroute the convoy. @Chris Meir was doing so well in the third position. Only thing that allowed us to have a break was his transmission heating up, hope you got it checked and are ready for more action on the coming weekend. @imranaasghar81 was as usual ready with his rig to set the dunes on fire as he recorded his 360 degree video we have all come to admire so much. His spirit and intentions are as good as his driving skills and it was a pleasure to drive with him again. @Anand Nataraj was an amazing choice as Centre Forward and was always present helping out with the stucks and refusals. Loved his energy during the entire drive. @bassel el rafei was in his Pajero and has a great attitude. We went through some rough and tough patches, but he was able to make it through. My only observation was the slight fishtailing during some soft patch sideys and criss crossing. This made these manoeuvres look a bit rough and dangerous. But I'm sure he would work on these on the upcoming.ing drives and understand better on the lines to take. @Nacho along with his guests is an Absolute fun person to have on any drive. It was no different this time as we had good laughs and enjoyed driving together after a long time. @Dodi Syahdar in his Raptor was tearing up the tracks leaving me with soup for the entire trip. I know I'm a bit on the plump side, but soup diet for an entire drive. Hahahaha. I also noticed him missing certain lines and fishtailing, but appreciated the counter steering and usage of power to get through. My images have been uploaded to the Gallery. If you like them is because @Niki Patel has given me a tip I follow which really makes a big difference. If you don't like them, is due to the fact I have loads to learn. https://carnity.com/gallery/category/639-fewbie-al-qudra-dubai-26-mar-21
  12. To add to what @Srikumar and Dr @Chaitanya D have said, after a bit of a lift you can always dig under the tire. Also if you can't find a thicker plank you can use 2 planks of wood.
  13. Congratulations @Humayun Ghias on your promotion. I hope you continue to enjoy learning and polishing your skills at this new level.
  14. Congratulations @Desert Dweller for an excellent desert toy. I have started to fall in love with the Rubicon. As for getting used to the buttons, I do give MC where I can get you used to all those buttons. Now I'm wondering, what would you name your new partner on the desert.
  15. @stavros papachristos firstly thank you for taking the time to go through this thread and posting your valuable question. You are right in saying on many occasions we have pointed out that some of these vehicles were trying to pull a stunt in 2 WD when things went wrong. But mostly it's due to fighting gravity or being on the wrong line or even people ignoring safety instructions. Driving in 2 WD could be an honest mistake or could be done deliberately to drift in the sand. All these go against the safety protocols preached in Carnity and this thread to to make you aware about the dangers of not following instruction. Its always better to learn from others mistakes.
  16. @varunmehndiratta have been a pleasurable time out with you. The lesson to be learned is patience which we so often lose in our daily lives. Hearty congratulations and I'm pleased to hear that the learning continues. I've been off-roading a little over 12 years, but even I'm still learning. Hope we can catch one of the classes together soon.
  17. @Mohamed Seidam as we have seen through Avengers and Justice League one person cannot make a difference. I want all our Carnity hero's to be seen as legends.
  18. I have already taken both my vaccination shots. I did not feel anything on the first shot, but second shot I had some pain in the arm along with slight fever and tiredness. However, these symptoms lasted just 1 day and since I took my vaccine on Sunday I was able to drive on Friday without any issues. I suggest you observe yourself after taking the vaccine and determine if you can or cannot come for the drive. There is no rule in Carnity that you cannot come for a drive if you've taken your vaccine. Being Covid19 positive is another story which is well covered already.
