  2. It's only fair. We have all agreed with the Covid19 rules which do indicate a strict banned policy. We all agreed to it including me. Its only fair and we should be more careful in future as Covid19 is serious and we should all respect the rules without any accepting. Not even me.
  3. Thanks @Lakshmi Narasimhan and @GauravSoni for keeping me informed. Waitlist as of now for 1st drive: 1 @Sinol 2 @Pacific 3 @Jon M Due to Covid19 restrictions breach I will be banned from all @Carnity drives till further notice. @Carnity will keep you advised regarding your new lead for this drive. 4. @Ranjan Pattanaik @Rizwan Waheed @Daniel Fernandez @Lakshmi Narasimhan @Roger K @Rawad Bahsas @Tbone @Chinthaka Ruwan @Pierre de Maigret @TT_Dubai @Yawa @Richard Franks hi everyone, unfortunately it has come to the @Carnity management notice that there was a breach in Covid19 rules on this drive as per the below pics posted. Since I have not been able to manage my convoy with the Covid19 dicipline I will be facing a ban for future drives. May I request everyone to keep with the Covid19 restrictions to avoid being banned on future drives.
  5. @Thomas Varghese it is throttle and steering control. Always proud to see the team managing the drives so well at different levels, sharing their knowledge and experience. With the size of our club growing its impossible to be everywhere, but the occasions I get to drive with the amazing members I'm always proud of the safety and strong basics all drivers show including you @Thomas Varghese.
  6. @Rizwanm2 and @Lakshmi Narasimhan please don't worry. We are manually reducing the RSVP to 1 to avoid any confusion. 10. Thank you everyone for an overwhelming response. I have rated this drive as a Fewbie as this will be a first time night drive for many. The level will not be exactly Fewbie, but due to the challenges presented in the night and the prospects of learning from this drive I have rated it as a Fewbie. Waitlist as of now for 1st drive: 1 @Rizwanm2 2 @Sinol 3 @Pacific 4 @Jon M 5 @Lakshmi Narasimhan Waitlist for second drive: 1 @GauravSoni 2 @Thomas Varghese Note: *SMALL CLARIFICATION* Thursday night drives are part of weekend drives now as per the new summer drive schedule. So it will be counted as a "one drive per weekend" restriction until Monday night. From Tuesday morning onward anyone is free to join multiple drives.
  11. Congratulations @imranaasghar81 on your promotion. You provide me my 360 degree fix. I had only one opportunity to drive with you and all I can say is that you really enjoy what you do which in turn is enjoyable for everyone around you. When you started experimenting with the 360 degree videos, you're not only learning to off-road, but challenge yourself in a direction which has turned to be so enjoyable for me. Keep up the good work bro.
  12. Many congratulations on your promotion @Rawad Bahsas. Great person with a big heart and a bigger vehicle. The awesome black on the Y62 looks mighty sexy. The only thing that makes the Y62 more sexy is @Rawad Bahsas the way he handles it. Love the attitude as he is always ready to be flexible and support the drive as and when required. Really happy for you @Rawad Bahsas.
  13. Thank you @Rawad Bahsas for the mighty clip, and @Lakshmi Narasimhan who put it so well into words. After seeing this clip Christopher Reeve will be turning in his grave, while Charlie Chaplin will be laughing in his grave. BTW thank you for everyone's patience and concern. The job cost me a total of AED 135. It was a bust rubber stopper which was the guilty party and cost me AED 30 for the part and labour. The Toyota coolant which cost me AED 105/-. All fixed and ready to take on more challenges and improve my learning with you all.

  16. TRIP REPORT Lost for words, can you believe it, the most talkative finds himself lost for words. I was amazed to see everyone on time even with the dense fog in places. I called @Tbone just before the briefing and knowing he would arrive in an hour, I put the centre forward position on grab for an hour. I'm glad @Roger K put his hand up for the position, just an hour right. So we started our drive riding the ridge and crossing over. A few refusals, but we'll handled as @Roger K and @Richard Franks helped from the centre forward and sweep position to keep everyone moving. As leads we need to be flexible and ready to change plans as required. But what is more important is patience which I must say was evident with today's amazing bunch. I had some issues with my car and I had full support of @Ranjan Pattanaik, @Roger K and @Lakshmi Narasimhan. We found the culprit to be a hose just below my power steering pump. We had to remove a few parts to reach it and tape it. By this time @Tbone had reached us and we decided to take my car to the road side and continue with @Tbone Xterra. Evident is in the details, @Tbone allowed me to continue in his Xterra, which kept us awake throughout the drive. @Roger K was now our full time centre forward and @Richard Franks was totalky competent in communication and keeping our convoy moving. We enjoyed playing in 3 of the best play areas and it was lovely to see everyone in such good form. We even crossed over and climbed Fossil Rocks just to come down the other end with @Roger K supporting me from the top to guide people down. So the majority decided they wanted to continue and I obliged. We were off through a challenging terrain yet one that would teach us the value of momentum. Climbing it with great team work and marching on we went step by step to reach the top of Faya. What started out with a solo of "This girl is on Faya" turned put to be a duet at the end. This sums up the events of the day, the team backs you up even if you're singing bad. So that's the end of the drive, no way, we don't quit that easy. So we came down from Faya and started climbing from the front face till @TT_Dubai Tim's Checkered Jeep felt a heat stroke when there was a clunk and the clutch went hard. After trying it for some time and unable to resolve the issue we decided to pull it out. Team work was again on display as @Roger K realized the challenge and led the rest of the team to the tarmac, while @Tbone helped us to pull the Jeep out. @Ranjan Pattanaik was up to my expectations as he pushed his Explorer through every challenge as my second lead. What made everything sweeter was he did it all without having a low gear. @Rizwan Waheed made his way on my drive to meet up with me after a long time. His confidence seems high and he is handling his Pajero very well. Although he told me he is finding his Pajero to be a little underpowered specially on high climbs, but I am impressed with how he has grown and how well he drives. @Daniel Fernandez thank you for the black tape while you were trying to help me out. It was fun having you on my drive and you're more than welcome on my drive anytime. The one of refusal is the best way to learn and we sure had fun learning together. @Lakshmi Narasimhan does not need any position to contribute. Love having you on my drives and love the way you handle most situations. Great contribution on this drive as well and nice to have you and your family out to enjoy. @Roger K starting with raising your hand to help out for an hour as Centre Forward and continuing the gig for the entire drive with a smile and a half. Really enjoyed your company and also the support offered throughout the drive. Great spirit, keep it up. @Rawad Bahsas was quietly and patiently enjoying his ride. Such a pleasure to watch that whale of a Y62 doing some low level flying on some mighty play area. Always a joy to have you around. @Tbone gives team work a whole new perspective. Offering me to continue the drive with his amazing Xterra. Besides offering his ride he also offered me great company. How can one individual be so talented in so many ways. Just have a chance to spend some time with @Tbone to be inspired.@Chinthaka Ruwan had an amazing Xterra which was lovely to watch and I had a brief pleasure to drive it. Need a few more drives to improve the throttle control, but seems got a good control on the steering inputs. @Pierre de Maigret came with some great feedback from Marshals he has driven with. His grey FJ reminded me of @Ale Vallecchi and @marks FJs. For a newbie he managed well throughout but with time the finesse will make a big difference. Looking forward to many more drives with you. @TT_Dubai did amazingly well. The Jeep just kept up with every challenge thrown at it. Thankfully the clutch issue came up right at the end and we were able to tug it to the roadside. Luckily having the RSA insurance the recovery tea. Was contacted and a promise of between 45 - 60 minutes to reach. Hope you got the people on time to recover your Jeep, I had to rush to my car and thankfully able to drive it back home with @Rizwan Waheed giving me an escort service all the way to Sharjah City. @Yawa was driving a yellow Jeep which was very familiar to me. Ofcourse @WaYan was one my previous drive with the same yellow Jeep. Today she was a passenger, and I had the pleasure to meet her husband. Great to see husband and wife partnership's, great to see him handling the ride well. Although at one point it seemed he was lost, but he got through with a little help. Working on the safe distance where you don't miss out the tracks of the vehicle in front is also important. @Richard Franks last but not far the least took on a brand new challenge today of being in sweep. How well he did in the sweep is evident by keeping the convoy moving and me informed regarding the movements of the convoy. @Yawa losing track at one point was helped by @Richard Franks to help him join the convoy again. if our drive was structured today, he was one of the foundation which made our convoy strong. In the end I would like to thank each and everyone of you today for showing true Carnity spirit and strength. Whether it was taking up responsible positions to enhance everyone's driving experience. The patience shown during the troubled times. The effort to help and guide each other as a true team. Really heart warming. Looking forward to many more drives cultivating these traits in more and more community members. My salute to all the heroes today.
  17. Congratulations @Lakshmi Narasimhan on your promotion. Looking forward to driving with you and your family tomorrow morning. Hope you continue to enjoy learning and polishing your off-road skills at this new level.
  18. Time to close up the drive and share the convoy numbering and the radio channel we will be using tomorrow. DRIVE RSVP IS NOW CLOSED Convoy numbering: 1 Rahimdad Pathfinder Lead 2 Ranjan Pattanaik Ford Explorer SL 3 Rizwan Waheed Pajero LWB 4 Daniel Fernandez Pajero LWB 5 Lakshmi Narasimhan Pajero LWB 6 Roger K LR3 7 Rawad Bahsas Patrol Y62 8 Tbone Xterra CF 9 Chinthaka Ruwan Xterra 10 Pierre de Maigret FJC 11 TT_Dubai JK - Chessboard 12 Yawa JK - Yellow 13 Richard Franks JKU - Red Sweep @Ranjan Pattanaik @Rizwan Waheed @Daniel Fernandez @Lakshmi Narasimhan @Roger K @Rawad Bahsas @Tbone @Chinthaka Ruwan @Pierre de Maigret @TT_Dubai @Yawa @Richard Franks Please find your names and convoy numbering above. When you arrive tomorrow morning, you can start deflating your tires to 15psi if you have normal/highway tires, and 12psi in case you have off-road tires. Please arrive on time 6:00 AM, earlier is even better so we can help you out with deflation if needed. We will be using Carnity Channel 2: 446.03125 Mhz. Seniors on the drive are myself @Ranjan Pattanaik in second lead, @Tbone as center forward and @Richard Franks who will be sweeping the convoy and we will all help you out in case of refusals, stucks, which is all part of the game (and fun) After deflating we will do a briefing to emphasize on the aspects of off-roading and the teamwork involved when becoming part of our off-road community. Since the number of cases has gone alarmingly high and as per the new restrictions we will revert back to briefing from our vehicles over the radio.. In case of emergencies, you can contact me on 050 674 9099 See you tomorrow !
  19. @Chinthaka Ruwan you can get either Baofeng UV5R, or UV9R or Motorola or Crony MT777. Make sure these are UHF and not VHF, although Baofeng has both UHF and VHF which is great. Baofeng also has a torch and FM radio, we are waiting for the latest models to come with a portable winch as well. 😜
  20. @Chinthaka Ruwan I would really love to have yu on this drive, so as @Lakshmi Narasimhan pointed out please try and arrange for a radio from Dragon mart today. Don't worry about getting it set up as I will assist you to set it to the required channel we will use on the drive, you will have a week from then to set it up officially. For safety reasons radio is one of the must items for the drive and unlike the Absolute Newbie drive we do not carry spare radios for other drives.
  21. HI @Lakshmi Narasimhan hope you have a good rest and catch up with you in the coming weeks. We are very close to announcing the convoy numbering and radio frequency for this drive. Will get back shortly with the details. Stay tuned.
  22. We have our night drives every year. Last year due to Covid19 lock downs we had to select either early morning start or early evening finish not to get anybody into any problems.
  23. Thank goodness you didn't start off-roading 12 years back. There was a group which did night drives without lights. One fateful night they even left a participant behind. The best solution I have to start chewing happydent.
