  1. What many don’t know, is that Angela is the first friend I met here in the UAE, a work colleague that quickly became a very dear friend, showing me around and including me in every adventure she planned, and as you can guess, she plans a lot of those 😂

I still remember the first time she talked about trying this desert driving thing. She did do a couple of drives with other clubs initially, but I suggested Carnity as I liked their approach when I was looking for a car and used their forum to get reviews.

once we both started driving with the club, it quickly became a hobby. However, Angela’s persistence, perseverance, sense of challenge and love of teaching led her to this deserved promotion. I am so happy to have been part of the process and see my friend get the recognition she deserves for her hard work and extensive knowledge.

    Congratulations @Foxtrot Oscar🍾🎊🎉🎈

  2. I had the pleasure of being part of @Foxtrot OscarAngela’s Newbie drive and hence Marshal  promotion 🥳. It was totally worth waking up at 4:30 am, although the very big Jeepers convoy at the gas station made me late despite the early start...

It was a delightful drive, starting with rain and ending with some wildlife, giving us all the opportunity to take some cool pictures and videos. Being the sweep allowed me to watch all drivers and also take pictures of everyone (check the drive’s gallery).

Thanks everyone for the relaxed drive and hope to see you guys and ladies soon!

I have a GoPro and usually bring it with me, later i upload the video to You tube due to size restrictions on Carnity gallery.
Happy to be the second last car @Emmanuel or last car even and capture the whole trip, i have spare batteries to cover the whole trip.

I said it first so back off 😁

Seriously now, allocating a position in the convoy depends on a number of factors, and having a GoOro is definitely not one of them 😉. Especially the sweep (last car in the convoy) which needs to be a bit more experienced driver as he/she has several duties such as keeping an eye on the whole convoy and supervising recoveries of the second half of the convoy after the CF position (Center Forward).

What I mean by this is that it is not always possible to accommodate such requests for the aforementioned reasons. I hope you understand what I’m trying to say.

I am sorry I don't have GoPro.. Guys if any body has it would be great to bring it and we could fix it in the last Car. Later I can get the video edited in smaller clips. When it comes to the specific Dunes where we do it individual we can record and share....Just to capture some funny and memorable moments.

I'll probably be the last car so do not worry re photos and videos of the drive. I enjoy documenting it and offering drivers the chance to see their cars in action 😉
If @Foxtrot Oscar lends me her GoPro again (which I'll never give back 😝), then I can set it up as well.

Hi Guys 😊just want to share something came to my mind and see if, we have any good ideas from our group. Since we missed to capture amazing  moments, from the last drive, and these learning periods will be  memorable ones in our life, so guys any idea how we can record or may be shoot the drive to capture our best moments we will be enjoying and want to keep this memories.

Each single opinion and idea will be meaningful and highly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Yunus

    Welcome to the club!

People are free to take pictures and videos, as long as they do not involve gatherings or are of others without their consent I guess. I used to use a GoPro fixed somewhere on the car, so that's an option as well. After the drive, a gallery will be available for everyone to share their photos and videos.

Congrats jamy, good choice and good find with low kms.

Thank you! I have to say that it was @Foxtrot Oscar who did all the donkey work and even pressured me to finalize the deal... which I appreciate. Otherwise, I'd still be procrastinating 😅

The Best part of a drive is when you have a cheerful Sweep enjoying the drive just behind You 🤗 it become easy going and NO stressssss thanks @Desert Dweller

Many thanks @Ale Vallecchi for the great drive and great time, thanks @Islam Soliman for looking after the group and many many thanks @Desert Dweller for the hints and for not stressing me at all in several occasions specially when i was a bit slowing down to reposition my F150 once more thanks for all the convoy it was on the best drives.

Thank you pal! I didn't think anyone could see me dancing there 😅

It was very nice to be in the desert again. I was really impressed with your skills managing that beast of a car! I could see how well you were approaching the dunes according to your car's needs. And please, by all mean, I wasn't in a rush hehe and I'm glad you felt relaxed and took the time you needed as your car needs a different angle of approach. I was enjoying the exploration and watching everyone from the back of the convoy.

This video is my little contribution:

Did you make a purchase @Desert Dweller??

I almost did but then the seller backed out and decided to keep it. After that I almost got a 2005 model but then decided against it.

I've decided to get at least a 2012 or preferably newer, and am hunting for a good one now again. Here's hoping I'll soon be part of the Jeep community.

  10. Hello everyone,

I am considering switching to a SWB car. Already test driven SWB Pajeros and Wranglers; automatic and manual. I remember reading somewhere that Wranglers from a certain year till another year were to avoid due to some issues they had. Any thoughts and opinions?

I want it to off-road. My drive to work is cut down to 10 minutes only (although I've been working from home since March 2020), so that won't be a problem. I don't necessarily want a super cheap one, as the resale value of Wranglers holds pretty well, I think.

    Thank you in advance!
