What many don’t know, is that Angela is the first friend I met here in the UAE, a work colleague that quickly became a very dear friend, showing me around and including me in every adventure she planned, and as you can guess, she plans a lot of those 😂
I still remember the first time she talked about trying this desert driving thing. She did do a couple of drives with other clubs initially, but I suggested Carnity as I liked their approach when I was looking for a car and used their forum to get reviews.
once we both started driving with the club, it quickly became a hobby. However, Angela’s persistence, perseverance, sense of challenge and love of teaching led her to this deserved promotion. I am so happy to have been part of the process and see my friend get the recognition she deserves for her hard work and extensive knowledge.
Congratulations @Foxtrot Oscar🍾🎊🎉🎈

I had the pleasure of being part of @Foxtrot OscarAngela’s Newbie drive and hence Marshal promotion 🥳. It was totally worth waking up at 4:30 am, although the very big Jeepers convoy at the gas station made me late despite the early start...
It was a delightful drive, starting with rain and ending with some wildlife, giving us all the opportunity to take some cool pictures and videos. Being the sweep allowed me to watch all drivers and also take pictures of everyone (check the drive’s gallery).
Thanks everyone for the relaxed drive and hope to see you guys and ladies soon!

As always, it was a pleasure to support @Emmanuel's drive. Having @Brette in the same convoy was an excellent extra. Two very calm and patient marshals, which made the drive enjoyable and go very smoothly.
I was pleased to see several new faces as well, and have the chance to observe everyone from the back of the convoy and check their skills handling the dunes and their cars. I believe that @JeromeFJ did really well as second lead, rerouting when asked to, which made it easier for the rest of the cars to follow the tracks. @yunus Kazi's Pathfinder struggled a bit to find the path 😁. However, he managed to recover and learned a few useful tricks. @Chris Wing, @Adhir Saxena, @Ammar Naji, and @Sai Baskaran did extremely well with minimal to no refusals despite the patches of soft sand. @Kenneth Bollhardt handles the Prado exceptionally well despite being at the back of the convoy where the track gets a bit churned up, and so did the fellow wrangler drivers @I.M. Shousha and @Ehunaiti (congrats on the Fewbie promotion, btw). All in all, it was absolutely worth the early rise!
Photos and videos will be shared in the drive's gallery.Hope you all enjoyed and see you soon again in the sand!

I have a GoPro and usually bring it with me, later i upload the video to You tube due to size restrictions on Carnity gallery.
Happy to be the second last car @Emmanuel or last car even and capture the whole trip, i have spare batteries to cover the whole trip.I said it first so back off 😁
Seriously now, allocating a position in the convoy depends on a number of factors, and having a GoOro is definitely not one of them 😉. Especially the sweep (last car in the convoy) which needs to be a bit more experienced driver as he/she has several duties such as keeping an eye on the whole convoy and supervising recoveries of the second half of the convoy after the CF position (Center Forward).
What I mean by this is that it is not always possible to accommodate such requests for the aforementioned reasons. I hope you understand what I’m trying to say.

I am sorry I don't have GoPro.. Guys if any body has it would be great to bring it and we could fix it in the last Car. Later I can get the video edited in smaller clips. When it comes to the specific Dunes where we do it individual we can record and share....Just to capture some funny and memorable moments.
I'll probably be the last car so do not worry re photos and videos of the drive. I enjoy documenting it and offering drivers the chance to see their cars in action 😉
If @Foxtrot Oscar lends me her GoPro again (which I'll never give back 😝), then I can set it up as well.- 1

Thank you! @Frederic baptized it as Rubi Red and I liked it. So it's that for now, until I feel more inspired at least hihi

Hi Guys 😊just want to share something came to my mind and see if, we have any good ideas from our group. Since we missed to capture amazing moments, from the last drive, and these learning periods will be memorable ones in our life, so guys any idea how we can record or may be shoot the drive to capture our best moments we will be enjoying and want to keep this memories.
Each single opinion and idea will be meaningful and highly appreciated.
Thanks
Yunus
Welcome to the club!
People are free to take pictures and videos, as long as they do not involve gatherings or are of others without their consent I guess. I used to use a GoPro fixed somewhere on the car, so that's an option as well. After the drive, a gallery will be available for everyone to share their photos and videos.- 1

Congrats jamy, good choice and good find with low kms.
Thank you! I have to say that it was @Foxtrot Oscar who did all the donkey work and even pressured me to finalize the deal... which I appreciate. Otherwise, I'd still be procrastinating 😅

Thank you! After reading all the info you guys shared and doing some more digging (not in the sand), I would like to own a more recent model.@Craig I'll post a pic as soon as I get it, pinky promise ☝️(couldn’t find a pinky😁)
Well, my love for the Xterra is still there, but we both parted our separate ways and found new partners 😁 . We're still friends though!
As promised, the winner is a 2014 Rubicon, GCC specs, 86.000 km, no mods, and a lot of money 😅 (well not really THAT much)
Thank you all for your guidance and advice, and special thanks to @Wrangeld who I annoyed many times with countless questions and adds, and to @Craig Finlayson who @Foxtrot Oscar annoyed on my behalf. Now I just need to watch loads of videos and learn how to use all those off-road buttons!!!Will probably be christening it in the desert in Emmanuel's newbie drive, if time allows.

The Best part of a drive is when you have a cheerful Sweep enjoying the drive just behind You 🤗 it become easy going and NO stressssss thanks @Desert Dweller
Many thanks @Ale Vallecchi for the great drive and great time, thanks @Islam Soliman for looking after the group and many many thanks @Desert Dweller for the hints and for not stressing me at all in several occasions specially when i was a bit slowing down to reposition my F150 once more thanks for all the convoy it was on the best drives.
Thank you pal! I didn't think anyone could see me dancing there 😅
It was very nice to be in the desert again. I was really impressed with your skills managing that beast of a car! I could see how well you were approaching the dunes according to your car's needs. And please, by all mean, I wasn't in a rush hehe and I'm glad you felt relaxed and took the time you needed as your car needs a different angle of approach. I was enjoying the exploration and watching everyone from the back of the convoy.
This video is my little contribution:- 6

Did you make a purchase @Desert Dweller??
I almost did but then the seller backed out and decided to keep it. After that I almost got a 2005 model but then decided against it.
I've decided to get at least a 2012 or preferably newer, and am hunting for a good one now again. Here's hoping I'll soon be part of the Jeep community.- 3

Hello everyone,
I am considering switching to a SWB car. Already test driven SWB Pajeros and Wranglers; automatic and manual. I remember reading somewhere that Wranglers from a certain year till another year were to avoid due to some issues they had. Any thoughts and opinions?
I want it to off-road. My drive to work is cut down to 10 minutes only (although I've been working from home since March 2020), so that won't be a problem. I don't necessarily want a super cheap one, as the resale value of Wranglers holds pretty well, I think.
Thank you in advance!
