  1. I was very excited about this drive since it was just 3 cars . No way was going to miss this opportunity to meet and get to know @Mehmet Volga @Salim Akhtar as it’s Easier to talk and learn from each other in such short convoy.
@mehmet, great route. I had never driven the car in such deep bowls before… as much as it was scary it was exciting as well…  After that jump was a bit more cautious towards the end though😊

look forward to the pictures and videos…

my phone doesn’t have a camera so couldn’t capture any of the actions !!
thanks again and see you in sand soon !!

Quick update after first drive. Ride is better than the Nexen on road for sure. They absorbed bumps better then Nexen at 32psi even at shop pressure of 45 psi. I went down to 35 once home. Hopefully they work well in the sand. Tread isnt very aggressive but more than an highway tire. Tread looks deeper in person than camera could capture. I could find actual weight specs and didn't get to check sidewall flex at the shop. Should be able to tell when I air down. At 14 psi my other tires looked almost on rim.  Haha

Hi Wade, I am looking for some tires as well and i am trying to find the vendors for michline LTX force and so far all dead end... would you be able to let me know the name of the agency ?

    thanks!

I could feel vibration after 90km/h after a particular drive where I suffered a popout

I got all 4 wheels balanced recently. The popout wheel got cleaned and there was a heap of sand on the inside.

Since then I did not face any vibration above 90km/h. I hope it stays that way.

I haven’t suffered any pop outs, but to clear any doubts I did remove the Tyres off the rim and checked...  no sand. the desert takes away my balance weights 😅 and then there is vibration...

  5. I drive a 2019 grand Cherokee trail hawk with 18 inch wheels and BFG Tyres. From past 3 desert drives, the balance weights on wheel gets lost causing high vibrations after drive and this would have me take the car to the service shop for wheel balancing which is a pain and not worth.

While this may not be limited to my car, I am interested to learn from the community members if they have experienced anything like this and what do you do to overcome the issue of wheel unbalance after a desert drive.
    thanks!

  6. @Alex Sidorov, If it’s a long dune climb I turn off the AC ... windows remain closed in my car even though it gets hot just to save me from cleaning the interiors again 😅 sand gets in very easily ....

Learning from @Brette, I try to keep the car in 2nd and 3rd most of the time, unless a challenging dune. sometimes I Feel with the AC on I’d have to downshift sooner and often,

btw I use manual/ paddle shifters as Sand mode tries to maintain the car always on higher revs ... which just puts extra strain on engine cooling system... in my opinion.
