I was out of station this week and returned today. I saw this mural on the wall of the aircraft and it seemed familiar- any guesses what it could be?
big dunes are like kids, see one, you have them all!
but do plan a drive on them... will surely join- 2

Hi Goutam @Looper, Since RSVP was still open, taking the chance and adding myself to the drive. Hope that's fine?

Can't thank you enough @Frederic for organizing such an enterprise and @GauravSoni for leading our pack safely in and out of LIWA. Thankfully I have always been able to answer whenever LIWA called - this being my 4th excursion - an annual pilgrimage of sorts.. and loved every bit of it and then some more...
Thanks also for the opportunity to make new friends with @Gautam Banka and meet up with old ones @Simon D @Batuhan Kulac and @Imran Asghar. it was fun experiencing respective leads of Simon and Gaurav - different but then similar traits with common denominator being safety.
It was an absolute pleasure driving with you gentlemen and the time spent together around the fire under clear star studded skies is simply priceless. Thank you for the company, the opportunity and all the fun.

Waitlisted: @Imran Asghar@Salim Akhtar
As we have now 13 cars, and two waitlisted members, this will definitely be a challenge to make it across and execute the planned route. If anyone is willing and free to shift to the second convoy led by @GauravSoni (which has only 2 cars for now), please do let us know and you are free to shift to that convoy so ideally, we can balance out the total RSVP which will be more fun and will allow for a more fluid experience.
In any case, as mentioned before, both convoys will be doing very similar routes, and will meetup the same evening at the camp site.
Hi Fredric, i'm happy driving under both of you leads. Please feel free to move me as required.

OPTION 1. If you prefer to sleep in the car, and want to be nearby the ADNOC LIWA:

OPTION 2. If you want to set up your tent nearby the starting point:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/cExrzT4HgyAY44Ve9
Follow the directions for the starting point to pass through the gate, then go a little bit right onto the sabkha.
OPTION 3. Camp deeper inside LIWA dunes for a tranquil night:

Enter at this point and follow the dirt track that leads inside the dunes. It's a hard track with little bit of sand, where deflation is not needed. Guaranteed of a quiet night under the stars. GPX file in attachment.

Myself, i will probably go for option 2 and camp nearby the starting point and sleep in the car.
Feel free to let us know what your plan is. The third option is probably the most private one and there is plenty of space in that area to find something that gives you privacy.
Option 2 or 3 for me based on what time i am able to leave Dubai on Friday.

Calling all Carnity's Prog-Rock Lovers and Pink Floyd Fans !
Pink Floyd's album "Dark Side Of The Moon", was released in 1973, and has now sold more than 45 million copies. The album is a unique sonic experience and what better place to experience it than in a desert together with other music lovers !
The Dark Side of the Moon - Wikipedia
We will be playing the full album (42min) and projecting visuals on a screen, on a late evening in the Dubai desert.
Where and When: 4 Nov 2023 in Murquab, Dubai from 7.30PM to around 10PM
1. Meetup at 7.30PM at the following location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/uopjiWe7XBGGEaWG6
2. Deflate and drive to the desert where we will set up the audio and video.
3. Bring out the chairs, blankets, and listen to the full album together cinema style (no late arrivals, driving around, bright lights,or other distractions. (phones switched off). This album deserves your full attention. Dancing is allowed if you feel like it drinks and snacks as well of course!
4. Camping afterwards is possible if anyone likes it. Free of choice.
If this formula proves successful, we will be organizing regular winter sonic experiences. Stay tuned !
PS This is not an offroad- drive.
Great idea @Frederic! If for nothing else, would have joined another Pink Floyd fan. Alas, am travelling next week.
P.S. being a die-hard fan and over the years have realized that one can do many things while listening but certainly can't dance

Wonderful bunch of blokes, great banter, lovely coffee in the middle of the desert - now throw a great, fluid and fast paced drive into the mix - recipe for an intoxicating high. Thank you @Davie Chase for making it happen.
@Looper, @Dodi Syahdar, @DP1011, @Patrick van der Loo, @Rk ram, @Mohit Gurnani and @Gertjan it superb meeting and driving with you guys.
