  1. Apologies, need to withdraw due to a late meeting on Friday night - need to get some sleep! Will take myself off the list. Enjoy, folks and see you next time
  2. Thanks @Davie Chasefor selecting this scenic route and making sure we all got our workout goals sorted for the week! Jokes apart we all had a great time with lot of small events along the way to keep things interesting. Great support from @DP1011 and @Felix Obst whenever one of us required guidance on a refusal or more direct help on stucks - you guys were a huge help to the rest of us. I had a hard time believing Davie was leading his first convoy - he was super confident, calm and efficient in getting us from start to finish. Many thanks to all the other team members especially @Ishakon second lead and thanks all for the lovely pictures!! See you all soon on the sands.
  3. Uh oh, just learned that I need to travel to Oman over the weekend for work, so have to pull out 😏
  4. @Kailas apologies, have had to pull out as something came up. Have a great drive all!
  5. This was my first scenic drive and my first wadi drive. Thanks @Fredericfor selecting a great route which also included my first water crossing (not counting sheikh zayed road after a drizzle 😁). Had a very enjoyable and peaceful drive. Special thanks to @imranaasghar81 and @Vanessa8580for getting me out of a brambly surprise which I got for taking the wrong line over a dune. Thanks to all for the great videos and pics. Sharing below a few I took.
  6. Thanks @Fredericreally looking forward to this drive, missed one or two scenic drives in the past. Mostly as far as I have seen the scenic drives are Newbie drives, just wanted to ask the aspects which make this drive a Fewbie? (Real reason to ask is do I need my full concentration or can I invite my wife to join me 😆)
  7. @Varun Mehndiratta just learned that I have work travel in the weekend. I will remove myself from the list. Have a great day out folks...
  8. I almost thought the drive would be cancelled when I saw the fog in the morning. But then everyone turned up and the weather was beautiful by the time we started. It was one of the first drives I have been where there were no stucks, only refusals and all self recovered. So no added experience of recoveries but on the other hand we covered lot of ground and practiced on bowls, technical dunes and climbs. Thanks @JeromeFJ for planning such a scenic and varied route with plenty of challenging bits with the related learning opportunities. Thanks also to@Islam Soliman for the very useful tips and advice throughout the drive. Was a pleasure meeting all the folks in the drive, look forward to seeing you all next time.
  9. @Fredericas always thanks for the relaxing yet engaging, flowing yet challenging drive. Not to mention your unique ability to understand the requirements of everyone from an absolute newbie to the more advanced members and prioritizing in the best way. The sands were quite firm this time so we had long spells of good movement, I think all of us had a really great time. @Davie Chase thanks for the calm and steady support, as also @Rizwanm2. Although even the absolute newbies were so steady that you didnt get to practice recovery skills much. However still got the opportunity to see a good demonstration of a winch recovery. And great team work from the rest of the convoy, was great to see so many small kids fully enjoying the moment, as only they can. All in, made for a enjoyable and relaxing drive. Thanks for the company everyone and look forward to meeting you on the sands next time!
  10. Thanks to the full team for the enjoyable drive. Special thanks to @Islam Soliman for his infinite patience and clear instructions, and making sure that we all learnt something rather than just take the easy way out. And of course @Looper for tireless support in recovering us out of many refusals and stucks. And the great teamwork and co-operation as always was great to see and experience. It was the first drive for me this season where the weather was pleasant almost through the complete drive, and the rest of the winter looks very inviting! Looking forward to seeing you all on the sand again.
  11. Hi @Vanessa8580 and fellow off roaders - apologies, I have to cancel as something came up on Saturday. Have a wonderful drive! I will leave the drive on the calendar page.
  12. I got back to the sands after a long time and as usual learned a lot, only this time not so much about driving as on how to cope with the unexpected. @Brette showed how to remain calm and think clearly to get the important things done, great lesson in leadership. @Murad Hamed showed how to keep a sense of humor and a level temperament after something which would leave most in shock (did you really drive that car to the road later - thats unbelievable man). @Fabien Monleau , @Benjamin and @TT_Dubai showed how to do perfect support with infinite patience. Overall, the teamwork and camaraderie all around showed why @Carnity is such a good club. Looking forward to the next ride with you folks.
  13. @TT_Dubai thanks for the pictures, very nice indeed. Nice close telephotos - were you lugging a DSLR along or did you crop? From the perspective they look like they were taken with a proper telephoto lens!
  14. @Ale Vallecchi thanks very much for a very intense and challenging drive! Two stucks, one pop out, a couple of refusals and a close encounter with a bush(!) meant a great learning experience for me with more more ridge riding and crossing than probably I have done till date in all my drives put together 😅. And the liquid-soft sand and good pace meant the adrenaline was high and focus was total. Thanks also to @Sunil Mathew for the assistance and @Imran Kashif for keeping an eye out behind me. And @TT_Dubai for valuable sweeper support. Look forward to seeing you all on the next sand adventure...
  15. @Gerrit Bus thanks for the effort to edit and compile, it was almost like going through the drive again. Even better if fact, as being in front part of the convoy I hadn't the opportunity to see some of these situations developing and getting resolved. I know its a time consuming job to go through hours of footage to pick the interesting parts and put them together - much appreciated! 👍
  16. Thanks very much @JeromeFJfor the challenging and enjoyable drive, great introduction for me to the Fewbie level! Everything was spot on from the routing to the timing. Thanks @Beide Worku for valuable support - also, the duct tape solution worked perfectly (I was expecting the flag to fall off at the first dune 😆). Weather was co-operative, and along with the great company and team spirit throughout the drive, it was the perfect start for the weekend.
  17. Thanks @Gaurav and Carnity for the Fewbie promotion! It has been a very educational and pleasant experience for me with this great club so far, and I am looking forward to growing my skills on upcoming drives as well as meeting fellow offroaders.
