  1. @Ale Vallecchi really fun drive with some great ridge riding and criss crossing and then a bit of tecky stuff thrown in for good measure

Love these mid week drives - just breaks the week up 😃

Well done @Chinthaka Ruwanat 2nd lead and as always reassuring to have @Gaurav Soniat sweep

Cant finish this post without mention of my first pop out - having seen a few being fixed before it was good to be able to do this one for myself. Thanks to everyone who assisted and expert guidance from @Ale Vallecchiand @Gaurav Soni. Will keep and extra PSI or 2 in the tyres going forward 💪

See you all in the sand soon

  2. First time to Al Aweer area, and have to say i really enjoyed it!!

Thanks @Ale Vallecchifor a really fun drive, which gave everyone a fantastic opportunity to repeatedly practice and finesse both their ridge riding and criss crossing skills later in the drive. Also thanks for trusting me at sweep for the first time, the occasional bit of digging and guiding off the ridge was all that was required, so well done everyone.

Well done @Alain Canivet-Abikhalilfor another faultless performance at 2nd lead and @Nivinfor being a superb CF and of course the gentle tug off the final dune (so very nearly made it without a recovery). Definitely realising more and more that with the heavy Tahoe that I am asking for trouble if i don't find a clear path when the track is churned up ahead.

Looking forward to the next drive and no doubt learning something else 🙏

  3. @Anish Sthanks for a great mid week drive, had a bit of everything which was great.

@Lakshmi Narasimhanthanks for the winch out, i don't think the Tahoe was coming out otherwise 💪. I was definitely working up a sweat with all the left and right steering even with the AC on full 😃 Thanks to everyone else that helped with the digging also

Thanks to @Lakshmi Narasimhanand @Anish S for the loan of the compressor at the end of the drive , really not sure what was happening as checked the alternator this morning and all was fine (will just have to keep a careful eye on it for next couple of drives)

One final thanks to @Anish S and @RooRzOnfor escorting me home just to make sure car battery didn't go caput on the drive back. really appreciated.

Wow that was a lot of Thank yous for 1 drive. Oh almost forgot @Alain Canivet-Abikhalilfor a great job at 2nd lead (That's it now)

Weekend almost here so can't wait till the next one

Thanks @Anish S for todays drive, it was a stress buster for me and enjoyed it very much. Mix of slopes, technical dunes which was enjoyed by every one. You have an amazing copilot on action over radio today, thanks @Veedooshee.

@Alain Canivet-Abikhalil good drive, you enjoy second lead position much!!!, enjoying the drive is the objective, continue enjoying!!! You have improved a lot on side slope couldn’t see any fish tailing, it was a pleasure watching you. If you manage to maintain the right momentum on climbing small dunes you will be perfect. But you self recover very well keep it up.

@Marwan Haddadyou did drive well, nothing to worry about exiting side slope early, you will perfect it with more practice, most important is to know when to exit which you did well today.

@Christopher Assal it was pleasure watching you from behind, couple of areas you slowed while approaching the dune but you managed to push at right time and crossed without getting refusal. Good drive!!!

@Zixuan Huang - Charlie you really drove well today maintaining safe distance.

@Sunil Mathew I could see you driving beautifully, and your confidence level has made you enjoy the drive, well done.

@Darren Brooke hope you enjoyed the drive and managed on churned up sand and technical areas well. Hope you fix your car asap and rock as usual.

@TT_Dubai didn’t hear you on radio, as you mentioned you enjoyed technical area very much for first time, that too from behind. Good job, continue enjoying.

@RooRzOn thanks for sweeping the convoy and you did great job. Hope you also enjoyed the drive.

Over all we covered good distance in short time and exited on time with most of the time driving. It was a wonderful drive, thanks to every one in the convoy. See you all soon!!!

@darren thompsonhow could anyone miss you and the Raptor 💪

    Drive Details

Level:  Fewbie and above (All Level)

Meeting time: 5:00 AM (SHARP - Without any exceptions)

    Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/QpQXy1bXzZ6a4qKM7

Action Plan: This will be the second drive offering a Ridge Riding feast in this rarely driven area. We will enter from the outskirts of the farming town of Al Aweer, encountering from the beginning an endless field of very long and open dunes. These will reach all the way to the other side of S149 (which we'll cross), almost all the way to Mahafiz. These dunes' ridges are quite long, smooth (not very sharp), yet wavy and irregularly shaped, and can be ridden, with care, for most of their length. Besides ridge-riding, we'll practice side-sloping, and will hone our abilities to climb, as well as exit and descend with care from the dunes' tops.

Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance.

What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face mask, rubber gloves, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

    Approximate finish time: 10:00 AM

P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive.

and less that said about @Darren Brooke 7’ shovel the better … he could almost stay in his car while shoveling with that thing :) (I have shovel envy!)

I do agree i may be over compensating for something else 🤣

However, i have@Ale Vallecchito thank for that, when i was firmly told on pretty much my first drive that the shovel I did have was completely inadequate for off roading

Have to say the new one works a treat and helped make freeing @Islam Solimana cinch 💪
