@M.Seidam hi Doc - not sure where i got this wrong.
It is showing that I am on the WL for this drive; however this will be my first drive of the week (except that i have also signed-up for the New Years Eve Celebration Night with Fred and Gaurav).
Could you please check from your side?
Thanks

Yes Doc
4 minutes ago, GauravSoni said:Hi @Imteeaz, thanks for your appreciation… however this is one thing i NEVER DO! Full throttle while taking sharp turn is the perfect recipe for a Pop out..
you can play with your throttle while doing long Sidey, or a twisting ridge or a climb, BUT while doing sharp turn while coming off a ridge or while getting on a ridge after I climb, I let go of my gas and use momentum to complete the maneuver…
Noted @GauravSoni thanks for the advice

What an amazing drive to end the weekend.
@GauravSoni Though it may be your 1st lead in Sweihan, you never hesitated to push all of us to follow your tracks. I have seen so many YouTube vids on off-roading in Sweihan; I believe that now we can post our vids (c/w @Waqas Parvez) to show our speed trails in the desert. Keep it up mate.
You were very good at climbing the dunes, and then make these sharps turns while keeping full throttle - I need to work on this technique specially with my Y61.
@Waqas Parvez We all need the confident SL to take us safely in and out of the desert - hats off mate.
@Amr Aydin Keep up the great drive with the JL.
@Haitham Khattab Amazing drive as usual mate
@Ashutosh Garg You drove well for your IM drive in Sweihan - you seem to have mastered the Xterra.
@ASAD. Solid CF mate; you kept the convoy together and moving at all times
@Senthil Kumar JK - no issues at all in the sand
@Anoop Nair You really pushed the Jeep for couple of looping you had to do (same like me)
@Zed Amazing V8 you have mate - I followed your tracks (at least I tried) all the time (except when i got the pop-out)
@Mario Cornejo With the tuned stock Y61, there was no limit as to what you could do in the sand - I enjoy watching you climb those dunes.
Other than my pop-out, which now I realise I could have avoided if only I had taken the decision not to try to criss-cross while my car was not keen to do so, I enjoyed the drive led by our superhero@GauravSoni.
On a separate note, I will see you guys in the sand after 2 weeks as I will be going for a pilgrimage in KSA.
Regards

Drive Info
With the success of the first edition of this Drive, we have the 2nd edition for the Proven Drivers and adrenaline seekers for the 2nd Edition. not to mention that this area offers monstrous dunes not found in any other place. This area has every kind of dune structure possible, pyramid dunes, starfish dune, steep slip faces, and bowls the size of a football stadium.
BOWL
STARFISH DUNES
STEEP SLIP FACES
This will be the ultimate test of driver and machine. You will be redlining the engine, and your car will still crave for more.
So drivers, Start your engines!!!
Important Points for all drive participants
- This drive is for Intermediates who have already completed min. 5 IM drives with Carnity.
- Keep your car as light as possible. This is not a drive to have passengers.
- Carry extra 20 liters of fuel for cars <100 liters tank capacity.
- Ensure that you are with a tank full to the brim at the meeting point
- The plan is to end the drive by 12 but its a possibility that we may extend based on Fuel and fatigue / idle time (so please don't keep any kind of other appointments for that day).
- Take the E95 route only, as that has the closest gas station. All other routes don't have any gas station close to the meeting point.

- Bring some quick wrapped sandwiches or lunch to eat along the way.

FINALLY
@JeromeFJ @Haitham Khattab @Sunil Mathew @Rob S @Tom B @Santoso Marjuki @Gok Krish @Mario Cornejo
Thank you for making this day a memorable one for me.
I started driving at 03 45 and stopped driving at 23 45 - sure this drive did take a toll on my body.
However, the excitement and adrenaline rush of driving in Liwa was too tempting; last year I was not experienced enough to take on this challenge.
Our Lead @JeromeFJ - difficult to put into words how you have lead us through this super soft terrain - you were taking all the risks while we were patiently following your tracks.
@Haitham Khattab challenging start to the morning to get the seat belt etc sorted out - I was happy to see Ibrahim enjoying this drive - I am sure he had lots to tell his friends at school.
@Sunil Mathew you master the Fortuner like a pro mate!
@Rob S well what will we do without our anchor point? you were always the first one to jump out of the car to go (and run) to help Jerome (as he was the only one that got stuck...)
@Tom B amazing drive mate - love to hear the exhaust popping on this V8
@Santoso Marjuki i dont know what you did to your Jeep - it is simply a beast - i was fortunate to drive behind you.
@Mario Cornejo the SWB Y61 is simply impressive - your skills could not be matched during the drive
@Gok Krish sad that you had to leave us early - but was happy to catch up again at the camp site after the drive to watch football. Looking forward to see you in the sand in your old/new toy
I was quite fortunate to be able to meet with @Gaurav Soni @Srikumar @Frederic and the other members to enjoy a bit of football after the drive prior to hitting the road again to Dubai.
Until next time, enjoy your upcoming weekend.
Cheers

No,
mine is vortex head, air is still being sucked into the intake system by pressure. the benefit of vortex head is that it keeps more heavy contaminants away and provide cleaner air to the engine, which is critical for Nissan's VQ40DE engine, it gets into limp mode if dirt gets in
Ram type head forces air into the intake system which theoretically increase the amount of air to the engine, you may check with others who have ram head.
switching the head is easy, you can get me a ram type and im happy to test for you😁
Thanks @Zixuan Huang - Charlie for the above feedback.
I recalled that Hisham also has the Vortex Head fitted on his FJ.
Do you mind sharing (via 055 897 0942 - my mobile) where you bought and got the snorkel installed?
Cheers

@Zixuan Huang - Charlie mate did you notice any difference in your vehicle/power after the installation of the snorkel? is the engine breathing a bit better?

Dear Friends
Enjoy the evening, especially if you are camping. Make sure you take enough rest for tomorrow.
The proposed convoy order is below, we can adjust before the drive if needed.
We will decide the radio channel before the drive.
Drive safely to the meeting point, and see you tomorrow morning !
Another battle between Toyota and Jeep tomorrow? Which one will come out victorious?

Dear Desert Divers,
@Haitham Khattab @Sunil Mathew @Rob S @Tom B @Gok Krish @Santoso Marjuki @Imteeaz @Mario Cornejo
Last checks for tomorrow's drive.
Please make sure that your vehicle is in the best conditions, that you have a spare wheel , and the tools to change it. Take all your recovery gears (rope, soft shackles, D shackles, jack, ...)
Make sur you have min 100l fuel total with you. If you need jerrycan(s) ensure they are properly strapped inside or outside the car, and take a funnel with you.
Welcome to the two last joiners @Imteeaz and @Santoso Marjuki, please make sure you read totally all the posts above, and comply with the recommendations.
Any question you can ask here or to my WhatsApp +971 5 8862 0942.
If you drive in the morning from Dubai, please make sure you allow for sufficient time to refill close to the meeting point (it might be busy) and you have a bit of rest before going into the 8h drive.
I will share later today the convoy orders, stay tuned !
Thanks @JeromeFJ for accepting me for this long-awaited drive.
super excited - can barely work....
