  1. @Varun Mehndiratta, thank you for another great drive, the lines you took were perfect. It was an exciting drive with a good mix of terrain with all the textbook style manoeuvres like slide-sloping, criss-crossing, and especially ridge riding one of Varun's favourite. Everyone drove well with minor refusals and stuck, self-recovering most of the times with some shovelling.

    @Frans M@Rajat Verma@Juzer Gandhi,@rohit kumar@Ishak , @Ahmad Nerat ,@Gary F@Pranjal Varsani1@Mark B, good to meet you all for the first time, hope you enjoyed the drive.

@Tharun Kumar V , good to drive with you and thanks for the extended support.

Enjoy rest of the weekend, and have a great week ahead!

  2. Nice and relaxing drive led by @Chaitanya D, as always. You know your convoy very well and make the lines that's suitable for all cars, perfect!  Thanks @M.Seidamfor sweeping us, look forward to joining one of your drives very soon.

Everyone in the convoy drove so well and the whole drive was fluid with only a few refusals that were nicely self-recovered. Well done all, and good to meet new Carnitians and old buddies!

It was a perfect way for me to get back on the sand after a prolonged holiday, business travel and maintenance schedule (for both me and the truck 🤒). Can't wait to join more drives now.

    Have a great weekend all!

We are away for rest of the month and what a way to end this year's off-roading. Thank you @Carnityfor organising these drives.

There is enough said about the drive and I can't agree more, what a brilliant one! Being sandwiched between two doctors and another lead in the middle was one of the unique drives we had so far. Thank you @Chaitanya D, @Vaibhav, @Jaro Tuzinsky, @Bjoern, @Pascal, @varunmehndiratta, @ASAD., @Senthil Kumar, @Waqas Parvez, @Patrick van der Loo, @Richard Franks , @M.Seidamfor an amazing experience that makes us to go year after year. A big thank you all the friends in other convoys that made the trip even more memorable!

Look forward to the Liwa crossing soon 😎 .

@ASAD. sorry to hear you are having so many issues with your bead grip tyres. As you know, I have identical rims and have been really pleased with them. @Rob S and @Karthik Raptor are equally as pleased with them I believe. Rob is running with Geolanders, whereas I am running with Coopers and Karthik is running with BF's. So could very well be down to the set of geolanders you got.

I switched to bead grips after a couple of pop-outs, and touch wood there hasn't been anymore pop-outs since then. I ran even on 6 PSI at some point during Liwa crossing earlier this year with no issues. I am happy with them so far, and I changed all the four tyres recently with no sign of wear & tear due to bead grips. So @ASAD., it could be an one-off case and pin it to the dealer to get your warranty claim sorted 👍.

It's true to sort pop-outs easily on non bead grip/bead lock tyres (which I think is impossible), but I would just change to my spare tyre (that I have moved into my truck bed for easy access) and exit as quickly as I can.

I mean in the location like bu hasa ( place we are going ) , Asab , habshan .. etc ( mid desert

@Jaro Tuzinsky The camping spot is not mid desert but closer to the starting point. But it does get cold especially between 9pm-8am with lot of dew. A sleeping bag and an extra thick blanket should be good enough. We will be in the middle of desert during daytime where it’s around mid 20s to early 30 degrees.

    Dear friends

    Manage
    Waitlisted Attendees

Great to have you all on this drive planned at Yellow truck Liwa.

I hope you all have gone through the drive thread thoroughly , please feel free to ask any questions .

    Be Prepared in advance:

    1. Ensure your car is well checked, all fluids topped up, no leaks

    2. All 4 tires and Spare tire in condition , spanner available for the lug nuts and not jammed

    3. Front and Rear tow hooks available, in condition and not rusted

    4. Bring along two radios if you have, or a spare battery / car charger as you might need it

    5. Bring in lots of patience and team work

    6. Ensure all the stuff in your boot is tied down and strapped securely

    7. Less or No passengers advisable as there are no near exits , in case if passenger is sick or unable to cope with the terrain. Make sure they are belted all the time .

    8. Bring all the recovery gears you have in terms of soft shackles, D shackles, Tug/kinetic ropes, straps etc.

    9. Dry food, Water (5L) and snacks accordingly .

    10. As much as possible - PLAN and PACK Light. Liwa needs the right weight on your car, even though a fewbie drive - every extra gram on your car matters.

    Camping:

Myself and some others (- please do mention here ) would be camping close to the start point. We intend to come the previous day i.e on 30th Evening (Wednesday) by around 7 pm approx. , have food, socialize😜 and sleep over there . Please bring enough warm clothes , camping gears/sleeping bags if you would like to do it. If your car allows you could as well sleep in your car.

Fuel station is about approx 15- 20 min drive from there and you can plan to fuel up accordingly ( including your jerry cans).

Me too will be camping after drive … tried once not going to drive all the way back post drive.

Indeed. We did the same last year, and it was more relaxed after the drive, go back home the next morning, no rush 😅

  7. It happened to me back in the UK,  mysteriously all the nuts came off. We were on the M1 motorway at 100 miles/hour and luckily the tyre didn’t come off, else would have been a major disaster! Only a few days before the car went through a major service and MOT.

The best approach will be - for on road and off road- is to put the co-ordinate and study the route on the phone before you start out to ensure the route is logical the final location is as expected. If we follow the route without anticipation, there is a good chance to end up in wrong destination. Happened myriad of times, especially with google maps. As @munkybizness mentioned, in India it's a different ball game all together, sure to end up in a ditch.😁

Thanks. The problem in this instance was the 'wrong' starting point is a legit one, where some drives begin (just behind the yoga centre). I even went there the previous evening to walk the dog and there was no reason to disbelieve 😅.

It's only when I reached the point, the maps decided to re-route with time to destination as 21 mins more in the opposite direction!

Probably Gaia is the way to go with co-ordinates.
