The island has succeeded in attracting a multitude of bird species, both resident and migrant. A survey showed the existence of 67 species of land and marine birds which stop at Qareen Al Aish Island from October to May. Statistics show that 30 per cent of the birds on the island are on the priority list of protected bird species regionally. Five species that are of great importance the world over are also found on the island.
