  4. What a year we have had at Carnity with some amazing drives and memories to cherish. But once the sand bug has bitten you, you just can't stay away from all the action. Eventually we all want to learn and explore more. As I was contemplating the area we should use as we already covered Maliha, Kalba, Tawi Nazwa, Bidayer where new can we take our newbies and Fewbies this time. After a lot of thinking it is the one area we have not touched on the whole of last year, Al Awir. So everyone of all levels is most welcome to join to enjoy some small to medium dunes and polish their skills in this easy area. Newbies and Fewbies will have great chance to see and learn the real fun that off-roading offers in a very safe and organized environment. Level May be changed upon convoy level. When: 2 February 2018 Meeting time: 1230 pm, convoy will move about 1 pm Where: Mosque right after the Am Awir Roundabout GPS Coordinate: BAB AL RAYHAN CAFETERIA Dubai-Hatta Rd - Dubai 050 169 6365 https://goo.gl/maps/R8r3egqV8E12 Level of drive: Newbie - Fewbie - All are welcome Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 10 inches of ground clearance. 7. What better way to start the 2018 season, by having a full day drive at Al Wagan on 12th Jan 2018. It will be the first drive to Al Wagan for Carnity Group and hopefully the first of many more. The plan is to meet up on Thursday evening at Al Wagan around 10 pm and camp there for the night. We shall start our drive early morning on Jan 12th. The drive will be split in two sections, with the first being one stretch of dunes. We shall return via the sabkha area back to Al Wagan town for the Friday prayers and also to finish our lunch. We would then return to the desert via the sabkha area and head towards more deeper wagan, as per time permits. This is an Intermediate level drive, so no newbies and fewbies are advised to join. This requires the best of the driver and cars so please sign up only if you are 100% confident. This drive requires a lot of dedication, discipline, and commitment to continue driving in rigorous off-road terrain and keep the convoy moving at all the times. It is very important to reiterate to everyone to ensure that your car is in the best of condition with all necessary fluid checks done, air filter check is done, 5 good working condition tires, etc. Further, due to the nature of the area, I do recommend that to carry only the essentials that are needed for the drive to reduce the weight in your car. 11. Weather is turning amazing and when hot weather couldn't stop us from burning up the desert, we are not going to let this cooler breeze go to waste. Area 53 is an extension of Bidayer area but with medium - big dunes with sharp rise and fall, at the same time suitable for Newbies to learn and enjoy the medium dune range. Where I would like to have newbies, just in case we have our regular drivers this area is truly perfect for rushing your adrenaline and hone your desert driving controls. This area requires precise control as one moment you climb up with full throttle and second moment you crawl at low rev before hitting the gas again for sideways climbs. This drive is meant for newbie - fewbie level, only if we do not have any newbie drivers the level will be revised to a Fewbie + level. When: 27 October 2017, Friday Meeting time: 2 PM, convoy will move sharp at 2:15 PM Where: Tawi Nizwa shops GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/KAZQNHFTjvj Level of drive: Either Newbie or Fewbie + depending on convoy level Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 10 inches of ground clearance Plan: Afternoon drive from Tawi Nizwa to Iftar Bowl and enjoy some snacks together. What to bring along: Evening snacks,, whatever you like with little extra to share, water, liquids, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. 13. Since its been about 2 weeks from the last desert drive, my mind was getting restless. Guess am completely infected by the desert bug, so after discussing with Gaurav, I though of posting a desert drive. idea is to meet up somewhere near Al Hayer and then drive to Nahel. And what better place to do the newbie opening morning drive at Bidayer area to enjoy the sunrise on top of Big Red. After enjoying the sunrise and quick play time, we will head to pink rock through some nice night cold dunes. This area offers all level terrain in some easy to medium size rolling dunes, and we expect to finish at the pink rock area. This is an all level drive, fit for newbies and fewbies as well. 16. Since Ramadan we have stuck with the formula of having night drives to enjoy the absence of the sun while temperatures also become bearable by early morning before the sun rise. Time to break the fast and have a drive by day time. I'm pleased to announce the upcoming drive on 18th Aug, Friday late afternoon to let our team test our rides in the late afternoon hours. After seeing the level of all our members rise consistently this drive is not going to be as challenging compared to any of our previous drives and we will be welcoming any new comers to add to their new experience. The beauty of this area, the wide open dunes, and with the occasional sighting of wildlife like gazelles and oryx are all reasons to set your pulses racing. The plan would be to meet up at 4:30 pm as per the below link and than head out to have some awesome fun through terrain that will leave you wanting more, and we will end it with a good spot to sit around and have a BBQ session with chats about the drive, general talk and share some jokes. When : 18 August 2017 at 4:30 pm Where : First Emarat Petrol station on Dubai - Al Ain Road after Outlet Mall. GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/KD4Lath3cB42 Level of drive: Newbie/Fewbie any level, just be prepared to have a relaxed drive and enjoy the BBQ Plan: Drive followed by BBQ What to bring along: Stuff for BBQ like grill, charcoal, lighter fluid and BBQ meat or chicken, water, liquids, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time : 10 pm Note : Drive level can be changed if required to suit the level of the convoy.

  18. As most of you must have noticed I had been away for a while. Guess what I am back. I had the honor of joining and driving with the best last Thursday night on a somewhat challenging terrain which was well managed by all, and now I am itching for some more. So this time keeping in the zone of re-discovering some challenging terrain, I am launching this drive as an exploration of an area I have not explored properly, just been in and out of this area. Sometimes when heading towards Jabal Jais through the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road E311 I have noticed some lip smacking dunes and I was briefly in and it has left me wanting to explore this area further. As it is evident that I am not fully aware of this terrain although all are invited to sign up for the drive, but only the first 10 cars which have the kind of experience to handle such a drive as per my experience will be selected for the drive, no more than 10 cars will be selected. leaving Gaurav Bhai and myself out of the equation there are 8 spots available out of which I would prefer at least 1 more experienced driver to control the convoy in this new terrain. If interested please sign up for this opportunity to explore and keep your eyes glued to the forum to check if you are the selected one. Thursday night drive: Date: 03 August, 2017 Meeting point : Tasjeel Village Sharjah on Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road E311 (https://goo.gl/maps/Pc92zQvf5hS2) Meeting time : 23:00 PM Plan: Lets drive from the petrol station through E311 till we find an suitable entry spot, deflate and explore the area which seems to be full of exciting dunes and challenges.. Basic recovery equipment such as 2 way radio, flag and air compressor are very important and carry lots of water and some snacks to share on the trip. Absolute compulsory to bring your stories, sense of humor and willingness to learn and follow instructions during the drive.
  19. The last few drives have been amazing but the challenge of ending the drive on time due to Suhoor, so I will make it nice and easy so that we can have a relaxed drive. The plan would be to start easy and slowly work on the toughness bit to make sure the learning curve does not stop. Furthermore, I would like to see who has grown in confidence and lead the convoy for a short while, details of which can be discussed during the driver's brief. When: 29 June 2017 Meeting time: 10:45 PM, convoy will move sharp at 11 PM Where: Adnoc Petrol Station Maleha Road GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/mzb26kxzte72 Level of drive: Fewbie - Expert - Advance - All are welcome (absolute newbie and newbie as passengers only) Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 10 inches of ground clearance Plan: Night drive from Muhafiz to Camel Rock to Faya and further if time permits What to bring along: Loads of snacks, plenty of water - whatever you like with little extra to share, water, liquids, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. 21. The last drive was an amazing one but full of challenges, and with Gaurav Bhai not being around I would be more comfortable with an area we have done a few time to be sure we face a little inconvenience as possible. The last drive was an amazing one but full of challenges, and with Gaurav Bhai not being around I would be more comfortable with an area we have done a few time to be sure we face a little inconvenience as possible. 23. Dear All, What an amazing year it has been. Full of drives, full of fun, full of meeting new people, exploring new possibilities, teaching us respect for one another, the different terrains we drive in and most importantly our vehicles which is so important. I would like to thank each an every one for the wonderful times and participation in one way or the other which has driven us this far. With the summers setting in and temperatures peaking the high 40s during the most sunny part of the day and with Ramadan opening up its doors next week it would be impossible to drive during the day. One more thing that we learned during our drive this Friday is the fact that the desert cools down in the night and the soothing cool nights is the way to go forward. So you all got it right and a round of applause for all our enthusiasts who have encouraged us to never stop. Being a Muslim and keeping in mind the prayer timing and the timings for the Suhoor and Iftar I have specially designed this week's trip with consent from our hero @Gaurav bhai to post the same. The plan will be to start late in the night after the Tarawih is over, which is close to 10:30 pm. This calls for a meeting at 11 pm and finish the trip by 3 or 3:30 am. This has many advantages, for one we can continue our culture of having food together, we will share Suhoor on top of the dunes to start our fasting day, we will reach home before the sun comes out and relax in the comfort of our house during the scorching day light hours and be able to offer our Tarawih in peace and finally we would utilize the coolest part of the night to glide through the desert. I would like to change and spice things up so the new entry point of Khatam which would offer a different approach towards Faya where we can play and settle down with a chat and some food and drinks for Suhoor. When: 26 May 2017 Meeting time: 11 PM, convoy will move sharp at 11:15 PM Where: Adnoc Petrol Station Maleha Road GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/mzb26kxzte72 Level of drive: Absolute Newbie - Newbie - Fewbie - Expert - Advance - All are welcome Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 10 inches of ground clearance Plan: Night drive from Khatam to Faya, Suhoor on top of Faya. 24. As the heat starting up now, we have to start doing more of morning or night drives. So this weekend let's start with an early morning drive in some of the best newbie - fewbie terrain in the whole UAE: Lisalli to Margham area. Best known for open dunes, gazelle sighting and very good mix of small to medium range of dunes to set everyone pulses racing. As it's a morning time, so we will be pressed to finish before 9 AM to avoid the scorching heat, that is bad for us and our cars so I expect everyone to be punctual if they are signing up for this morning run. When: 5 May 2017 Meeting time: 4:45 AM, convoy will move sharp at 5:00 AM Where: First Emarat Petrol station on Dubai - Al Ain Road after Outlet Mall GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/KD4Lath3cB42 Level of drive: Newbie - Fewbie Plan: Drive followed by breakfast What to bring along: Breakfast - whatever you like with little extra to share, water, liquids, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time : 9 AM
