  5. We all are excited about starting off Night driving not to miss out on desert driving in summer to save us from the scorching heat. I was looking at options for improving visibility on drives especially for cars in the the convoy at back/ when one is following a car to have a better sight of the car in front. Simplest one can do would be to attach LED blinkers to their respective off road flags at the top or just below the flag so that it makes it a tad bit easier for the car behind to follow and for safety crossing taller dunes . Just the way a off road flag serves it purpose during the day, it would do with these at night. These LED blinkers are available on line - basically cycle LED blinking lamps which also come with USB recharging options. Cost varies between different options and colors but a basic one would cost around 30-40 AED and I suppose it is worthwhile to have these. Any other suggestions or advises is welcome

  8. I am looking to install light bars for night driving. With a wide array of options to choose from I am Finding it hard to make a choice. Can anyone based on their experience recommend 1.brands that have stood up to the job and which ones to avoid? 2. What is a the reasonable wattage that I should look for e.g 420? 3. For e.g is the LED rated for 420w output or 420 w halogen equivalent ? (Former is better) 4. Which configuration is ideal ? 1 bar on top + 2 small beamers on the hood + 1 each on side + 1 back? Is this overkill?

As most of you must have noticed I had been away for a while. Guess what I am back. I had the honor of joining and driving with the best last Thursday night on a somewhat challenging terrain which was well managed by all, and now I am itching for some more. So this time keeping in the zone of re-discovering some challenging terrain, I am launching this drive as an exploration of an area I have not explored properly, just been in and out of this area. Sometimes when heading towards Jabal Jais through the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road E311 I have noticed some lip smacking dunes and I was briefly in and it has left me wanting to explore this area further. As it is evident that I am not fully aware of this terrain although all are invited to sign up for the drive, but only the first 10 cars which have the kind of experience to handle such a drive as per my experience will be selected for the drive, no more than 10 cars will be selected. leaving Gaurav Bhai and myself out of the equation there are 8 spots available out of which I would prefer at least 1 more experienced driver to control the convoy in this new terrain.
  14. Welcoming night drives is always fun to enjoy the desert at night, which is one of the most amazing experience. You can enjoy the silence, cloud full of stars, escape the heat, enjoy the breeze and sometimes even fog. As it's a first night drive, so we will start a little easy and then gradually bump up the pace and level, so that everyone can get hang of it and enjoy safely. We will start from Bidayer and play around the big red first from all sides and then head towards the Pink rock and play all the way on all peak dunes. Will end the drive at Pink Rock and lay our spread for suhoor with the newbie and fewbie convoy. Anyone who wishes to leave early can do so by 4 AM, as we reach to Pink Rock near 2nd Dec Cafeteria exit. When: 9 May 2019, Thursday Meeting time: 11:00 PM, the convoy will move sharply at 11:15 PM Where: Big Red Entrance at Bidayer GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/PUQeQ7CXejfeQsJa7 Level of drive: Intermediate and above Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 10 inches of ground clearance. Time flies. It seems just a few drives back we were doing Ramadan night drives and its once again that time of the year again. So I am pleased to post the first night Suhoor drive for 2019. Plan is to have an easy relaxed newbie night drive from Tawi Nizwa to Pink rock area or Bidayer if everyone manages well. It's a perfect drive for newbies and fewbies to learn in the best terrain that gradually transforms and offers plenty of opportunities to learn and play. In the end, we will settle down in a good spot to have Suhoor before the dawn and return to tarmac before the sunrise. The last few drives have been amazing but due to Ramadan the challenge of ending the drive on time due to Suhoor,. So I will make it nice and easy so that we can have a relaxed drive. 17. After experiencing an amazing drive last Thursday night in excellent weather, we like to replicate another Suhoor night drive to enjoy the drive and eating together but in a different area - Bidayer to Pink Rocks to Big Fall and if time permits to either Fossil Rocks or Faya. This area offers all level terrain in some easy to medium size rolling dunes, and we expect to finish on some tall dune to enjoy suhoor with good breeze and company. 23. Dear All, What an amazing year it has been. Full of drives, full of fun, full of meeting new people, exploring new possibilities, teaching us respect for one another, the different terrains we drive in and most importantly our vehicles which is so important. I would like to thank each an every one for the wonderful times and participation in one way or the other which has driven us this far. With the summers setting in and temperatures peaking the high 40s during the most sunny part of the day and with Ramadan opening up its doors next week it would be impossible to drive during the day. One more thing that we learned during our drive this Friday is the fact that the desert cools down in the night and the soothing cool nights is the way to go forward. So you all got it right and a round of applause for all our enthusiasts who have encouraged us to never stop. Being a Muslim and keeping in mind the prayer timing and the timings for the Suhoor and Iftar I have specially designed this week's trip with consent from our hero @Gaurav bhai to post the same. The plan will be to start late in the night after the Tarawih is over, which is close to 10:30 pm. This calls for a meeting at 11 pm and finish the trip by 3 or 3:30 am. This has many advantages, for one we can continue our culture of having food together, we will share Suhoor on top of the dunes to start our fasting day, we will reach home before the sun comes out and relax in the comfort of our house during the scorching day light hours and be able to offer our Tarawih in peace and finally we would utilize the coolest part of the night to glide through the desert. I would like to change and spice things up so the new entry point of Khatam which would offer a different approach towards Faya where we can play and settle down with a chat and some food and drinks for Suhoor.
