  1. Hi (again) As a new Toyota owner and new to using a 4x4 for its intended purpose, off-road, I need a little advice from my fellow Toyota Owners with regards service intervals. I am trained over the past 9 years to service my car annually (as I never previously hit the mileage milestone) and with a service pack never really read any documents as it was a matter of a reminder being sent on SMS and pick up the car a few days later. My car: FJC 2020 (registered October 31st this year) 4 year service contract Averaging 2k per month KMs so hitting service schedules much sooner than planned Added to this a reasonable % of this mileage is done off-road I know I need to call the dealership for a number of these asks below however their service departments isn’t exactly responsive so as I wait thought I would ask our community: Advice needed #1 according to the Owners Manual, if you are using the car regularly on dusty road then the service interval for a few items are adjusted (brought forward). ASK # 1 – Does a weekly desert drive qualify my driving/car as having ‘regular’ off road use? #2 above is a screen shot from the owners manual that details the items that need to be done earlier if using off road regularly ASK #2 – have any of you fellow Toyota owners with a service pack, bothered to use the included service for this maintenance? Would it be a waste of that service entitlement as I only get 7 (covering 4 years) ASK #2A – if you fellow service pack owners advise to keep the included services for the main milestones (every 10k KM) then do you simply go to an: Independent garage and have the filter and oil replaced + Prop Shaft greased and tightened OR do you pay the dealership tax and get that task done at the dealership to not risk any void warranty? OR just buy the Toytota official Oil filter and have the work done offsite/independent #3 and ASK#3 – any FJC owners able to advise me on any items to watch out for / have looked at as I now take the car weekly into the desert and it being only a few months old? I am following the guidance in the forum to check fluid levels prior and post drive (oil, coolant, power steering and brake) I have done 3K KM so far and the oil on the dip stick looks as good as new and the fluids haven’t shifted at all (good news I guess) Thank you in advance
  2. 2021 welcomes in the rebranded FCX (FJ xTreme) -> lets welcome the new FJ Adventure X (spec sheet attached) look forward to having an FJC, FJX and FJA convoy some time soon PS the pricing is misleading (FJC starts at 140k and the FJA at 165k) 21ym_fj_cruiser.pdf
  3. <<Also posted on the Audio Advice channel/forum>> Hi community, 2 drives into my Carnity experience, I am realizing how disappointing the stock Speakers in the new FJ Cruisers sound as the setup includes 8 speakers but no SubWoofer. tiny sound, rattling doors and just a disappointing experience (that and the tyres are my only gripe - i love the car in every other way) With every future drive with the club being a minimum 2 hours round trip just to the meeting points, I feel the need to improve the Acoustics in the car and add some real bass/subwoofer. Current Setup: 2 small speakers on either side of the Dash 2 speakers in the front doors 2 Speakers in the rear pillar 2 speakers in the roof/headlining above passengers 12" touch screen Android head unit Toyota didn't provide any documentation for the head unit (so i do not know its specifications however will try and search for this form the FJCruiser Forum) i will try and source the manufacturer and specs of the current speakers also if that offers any value My Goal: Not replace the current speakers (only 1 month in and i am not an audiophile (yet) so feel its just the low end i am missing out on) add a subwoofer that will work well with the current set up ideally keep the trunk space empty (have though about under seat Subs?) open to using the space in the trunk if that's a better option budget - good quality sound (not needing competition grade and not looking for budget options) Installation: if the team are looking for a small project i would happily get my hands dirty to learn and do it together otherwise i am looking to buy and install from the same place (as per previous advice on this forum) Help needed: Should I consider the stock FJ Subwoofers as an option? either from one of those scrap yards or second hand? or is there a far better sounding option by buying aftermarket stuff with a custom enclosure any advice on those that have added a Subwoofer to a stock system and the basics i will need (assumed a new Amp + sub and cabling being the only requirements?) - but assume i am wrong as a cross over i suspect is essential but do educate me here can the community help guide me on a recommended set up long shot - any of the group up to help install as a project or advise on suitable locations to source and fit they trust. thanks again
  4. Hi all, I found 2 useful documents to share with the fellow FJC community: Complete FJ Repair Manual (attached) FJ Electrical Diagram and guide (link) as the above attachment is so large i couldn't include both in here so simply sharing the link. Hope these come in helpful to those of you able to take on some tasks at home (i look forward to the day where that's me!) FJ_RepairManual.pdf
  5. Hi again my first and last trip as an absolute newbie is over! Couple of asks to this community to help ready for future drives 1. reducing the tire pressure for the ride, having a pop out (likely due to my clumsy maneuvering) and then the subsequent tire cleaned out, the Tire pressure monitoring sensor (TPMS) broke and I now have a permanent warning light on the dash (all 5 wheels are monitored so even if I switch out with the spare this error remains). ask: do I simply ignore the dash error or should I plan to remove the sensors and have regular valves installed? Would this enable deflation safely to a lower value (as no devices sitting inside the tire?) 2. ABS kept kicking in on the first drive ... it’s not a pleasant sound but didn’t limit my driving as I was on a beginner level. Ask - does the ABS kicking in have an impact on the car so I should arrange a kill switch to protect the brakes /mechanical side. Or can I just keep going at this beginner level as it’s just an inconvenience vs a longer term problem ps. Showcasing how basic my mechanical knowledge is ... the car included a skid plate so my previous post was not acted upon! Learnt this as the pop out was being fixed by hero @Ale Vallecchi and @Gaurav Thanks again community... niki

  7. Hi all Am a new member and recently purchased a new 2021 spec FJ cruiser that I am desperately trying to get through the 1k miles run in period excited to join the beginner sessions and would welcome fellow FJ owners recommendations/guidance/warnings. I am keen to ‘explore’ the desert vs dune bashing or extreme off-roading... looking forward to start my journey with you all. thanks niki
  8. Pajero flips FJ in 5 seconds!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMLsPrRWjds A rescue mission turned out to be a display of Mitsubishi Pajero Power why do you think they named it FJ... Flip Jeep ??? Alhamdulillah there was no casuality or any major issue to the FJ apart from minor dents. Off Road Lesson learned: - To be careful in assessment of the vehicle & hook position, Should observe well when others hooks the car. It should have been hooked to the left front hook instead of the right!!! regards, Rajeef M
  9. Hi, When off roading with my FJ 2014 on H4 sometimes I get a noise from the engine and a light flashes on the main panel for a few seconds. It happens normally when in soft sand. The sound last for a few seconds also, but it sounds terrible! Is that the TRC? What would you recommend? Thanks
  10. Hi Friends, Proudly I hav a Toyota 2009 FJ which had run has 98000 Km. I recently reported a problem, I am noticing a vibration when I am going about 35-45 km of speed, I ask some of friend who have FJ, they said that I might need new transmission. At the same I spoke to one of known garage guy about the problem he said that this type of car does not need a transmission services, the transmission fluid that set up is expected to last through out the life. Everyone said it's nothing but I always noticed something was wrong, came upon this site just to get to know if someone has the solution or experiencing a same issue. The car shudders around 35 kmph and worries me that it will go completely out. Now I don't know what to do. I really Love the FJ and don't wish to get rid of it. Any advice or suggestion?
