  1. Good evening, all. Many who have driven with me knows that my car carries 3 different colours (primary silver, secondary red, and thirdly yellow). In relation to this I have been meaning to write a post to help anyone looking to add a new colour or colour's to their car. To begin with I originally thought I could just slap any colour I wanted onto the car (even if it was only tiny little stripes; this is not the case). Recently I had to get a new Mulkia for my car this meant I had to visit a Tajeel center which failed due to incorrect colour information. So how would someone avoid the process of taking off stickers or potentially gain a large fine for driving a car that is seen as a UFO in the eyes of RTA. This is a long process which should not be overlooked ensure you do everything legally before changing the colour of your car. To begin with the first thing your going to want to do is visit the Dubai Police Vehicle impound Yard in Warsan 2 located here https://goo.gl/maps/ZK1mWcJt7Kotb6k27, Then you will want to meet the receptionist there and say your visiting to get a colour change request who will likely point you to a CID officer ensure they know its for non-commercial purposes. Now in my case after speaking to the CID officer and expressing concerns over having two new colours added onto the car he pointed me towards using the Dubai police app, he also told me to get the stickers put on before requesting onto the app which seemed to be taking a expensive risk. Get the stickers or paint job done to your car. Once your happy with your new colours and preferably your car is still under studio lighting within a workshop I recommend heading to the Dubai police app which is available on IOS and android devices Once within the app navigate to 'services' and scroll all the way down until you reach 'traffic services' from here click into 'vehicle change colour request' You will then be greeted with this request page, fill out all the credentials, photos and videos, then submit it to Dubai police this will in turn cost a fee which I think it was 140 dhs. NOTE: Be very careful submitting this form, ensure the current colour matches the Mulkia, if you're adding onto your primary colour make sure 'colour 1' is the same as what you have put in current colour. Also if you're going to add two new colours like myself ensure you put the largest amount of 'new colour' first before worrying about the second, in my request it was Silver and Red leaving out yellow. Shortly after you will receive a letter much like this one stating your car meets their requirements and the colour change is all done. You may think your finished however the fun is only beginning! 5. This step is optional, but I recommend anyway: Now if you have a third colour the app wouldn't let you submit head back to Dubai Impound in Warsan make sure you bring a printed copy or get desk 1 print you out your approval letter go back to the building with the CID officers and ask them to correct your form and explain you have another colour; in this case mine was yellow, be prepared to let them inspect your vehicle or show a photo just to illustrate what colour you mean; in my case the Officer wrote the word 'yellow' in Arabic followed by a signature and a Dubai Police Stamp (signature and stamp will show RTA guys that the form is legit) now that you're half way through the process remember you only have 30 days to sort out the rest of the legal paperwork on the new colours 6. Make sure you're up bright and early to tackle the task of heading to an RTA customer happiness center, I'm sure any RTA center is perfectly fine to go to however I recommend heading to this one in Al Barsha https://goo.gl/maps/CSWjyTbhGfxPrwYS6 7. You could attempt to head into the main office to ask for a colour inspection much like myself however they will point you towards a Tajeel testing center which is located right behind the buidling. 8. Upon reaching the tajeel booth ask the person at the gate your there for a colour inspection, they will most likely shuffle you into the 'special services' testing bay, after waiting for your turn tell them your only there for a colour inspection and give them your printed approval from Dubai police (even if you tell them this they will still do a full inspection of the car charging you 170 dhs which is frustrating so best go when your Mulkia is about to expire. 9. Talk to the receptionist within the Tajeel side of the RTA center and explain your there for a colour inspection, she will give you a ticket and now you wait! everything should be smooth if you only added one colour and you should receive your passed note from RTA which will allow you to talk to the receptionist to get your new Mulkia printed. Congrats! BUT if you also added more than one colour your day is going to get a lot longer within RTA, much like myself you will probably be located by the RTA guys and they will tell you the colour doesn't match what you have on the Dubai police report (potentially this was my experience) point out the stamp and the colour that has been approved by the Dubai police impound. This next experience can also vary so be prepared for the unknown, when you finally pass inspection and your directed to a new line for your new Mulkia you may be told a new card cannot be submitted to you because the colours don't match from the report and your car, explain the confusion or speak to the manager showing them your RTA printed document with the print and signature Ensure you scan this police document onto your phone in case it is lost within all the RTA confusion 10. Everything should be cleared up and you should have a new Mulkia and should have all remained colours onto your car! Congrats! 11. Enjoy your stripes or new paintjob until you realize that stickers may need to be fixed every 2 years due to the hotter climate of Dubai Thanks for reading and I hope this helped someone in the long run.
  2. Hey @Carnity and everyone that stumbles along this post. I’ve been thinking about posting this as a general discussion or an advice page for good amount of time. My goal for this page is to get every off-roader together to share how they store their off-road gear during a drive (potentially even sharing pictures) what I’m hoping this should do is show our fellow members with a little less experience how we store are gear in the back of our cars safely for drives above Newbie (because no one wants a flying compressor or shovel in their face during an intense drive) of course this page is really meant to highlight Safety. As every car is different I encourage people with different cars to show how they store their gear as for jeeps (like mine) it’s relatively straight forward I’ll start off with my current setup So I use the advantage of the jeeps mount points on the surface of the flooring of the boot. We have 3 points per side totally 6. Personally after some time driving in the desert I notice two straps in a crisscross pattern holds down the gear the tightest while my shovel is held by a separate strap on the rear of the sports bar or (roll cage) this is a new setup to me so I’ll keep my fellow jeepers updated if I happen to change my setup or require two straps for the shovel (remember for the shovel location keep it tight but not too tight! We don’t want to damage the plastic exterior of the sports bar) Thanks everyone who happens to share
  3. Hi @Gaurav Sonii understand from Fred that you are driving a tuned Pajero, I am driving 2008 3.0LWB which has the transmission upshift issue. I am planning to do ecu remap from chipcentic, so prior to getting this done, thought of getting feedback from you on the engine performance and any other issues confronted post upgrade.
  4. This video is dedicated to the 7 Camaraderie of Bu Tais @Farouq Owdeh @Taufique Surve @Hasan Wahlan @Karthikeyan Govindarajan @xavier @Mus_hus78. Remember what HeadMaster @Asif Hussain says: Follow the track 😂😂😂
  5. Friends, do deleting running boards/side-steps help when driving in sand? One friend says it's just a perception issue (ie doesn't matter) and one says it will help not getting stuck when going over sharp crest. Thoughts from experts? Plus will it pass Inspection if deleted? Pic attached to show what I mean:
  6. Thanks to @Hasan Wahlan, I found the trick to getting LandCruiser to climb up with power & ease is to shift it manually to L (in 4-High of course). Unfortunately I was too excited with this discovery and fear of getting stuck on the crest triangle made me step on the pedal a bit too much 😂 So my LandCruiser flew, as soon as it touched down @Srikumar bhai asked me to check the radiator. Radiator was ok and we continued... Two days later "clicking" noise started coming from the front-driver side, as seen from this video: Can you guess what the culprit is? If you say CV Boot close enough, it did start with the CV Boot leak, but eventually I had to replace the whole front-left axle 😂 No need to buy new one though, new OEM will cost 2000dhs++ , since i may break it again *touch wood, a good second-hand that costs 400dhs is enough for now 😄
  7. *This may be Toyota-specific, but the general rule may also apply to other vehicles... So in a recent major maintenance (timing belt, water pump, etc...), my mechanic got creative and fixed all the warning lights, like in Photo #1 (only seatbelt warning light on) And so I panicked cos I like it with the ABS + VSC OFF + VSC TRAC warning lights on, since this car is only for off-roading 😅 After reading some stuff online and checking the Toyota Repair Manual, I found out if the Wheel Sensor cable is disconnected, then ABS will not function, VSC Active Traction Control will not function and also VSC Skid Control will not function. After tracing from the manual diagram, I found the wheel sensor marked with Gray Connector in Photo #2. I used a Cable Tie to act as a cable holder so the cable does not fall off during offroad times, and after offroading, I usually plug the cable back cos I need those safety features (ABS & Skid Control) in the highway 😄 So once the Wheel Sensor cable is off, you will get all the warning lights like in Photo #3. This is an alternative method rather than plucking the fuses one-by-one for ABS and for VSC. One cable to turn them all off! Cheers, Z.
  8. Hello dears Am eager to know how to modify my car to minimise damage possibilities, and yet keep the elegant look that suits the city Hi @Lorenzo Candelpergher I noticed that you have the new model 2020 and it looks awesome. Is it a t1? Or did you modify the bumper and added a skid? It would be amazing if you can share some advises Thx
  9. Hi guys. I'm new to off roading and need some advice for you'll. I want to buy a 4X4 for some casual offroading especially in the desert. Definitely want to drive in the dunes on soft sand and want to have a vehicle that has good safety and has good technology to come out of being stuck. Safety is important as I'll be going with the family. My choices are as per follows: 1. Toyota Land Cruiser - 4L, V6 2. Toyota Land Cruiser - 4.6L, V8 3. Toyota Land Cruiser - 5.7L, V8 4. Nissan Patrol LE - 5.6L, V8 5. Nissan Safari/ super safari - 4.8L V6 ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE 2020 models may be even 2021 model. Please give me your professional advice. Will a V6 be enough or do I need a V8. I have also heard the toyotas come with crawl mode. What does Nissan have thats similar to that? Look forward to hearing back from you'll. Cheers Roy
  10. Excited today cos I just renewed my Carnity Subscription and got a sweet deal on an LC-100 V8 😁 InshAllah I will join next Carnity drives (if they're in Abu Dhabi), and so with an old car, it's time to turn this off-roading thing into a hobby (hobby = something you'll spend monthly on 🤣 ) To all the seniors who've modded their cars, what do you think the order should be? (no such thing as 100% right order, so preference opinions are fine) For the list below, my order of preference is ABCD. If you think I should do differently, please advise why, so it'll add to my learning 🙏 A. Change tires. After extensive research (reading hours until midnight), it seems my LC-100 can fit 285/75x16 without rubbing. Options are: Kumho Road Venture AT51 (what https://www.pitstoparabia.com/ offers if I type 285/75x16). These tires will give extra 1" lift without suspension kit. Stay with stock size 275/70x16 which means I can go for Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 or BFGoodrich T/A KO2 (premium! 😭) B. Lift 1.5", cos anything more would require diff-drop. If I opt for the Kumho 285/75x16, maybe it will be total 2.5" lift achievement ? C. Beadlock wheels Beadlock technology (or BeadGrip if using Method wheels) supposedly hug your tires tighter to prevent tyre pop-out. Considering I've experienced a rollover with popped-up tires (not sure if the tires popped during the flip or before the flip), maybe this is a safe investment? My only problem is my lack of knowledge in this department cos the stock wheel spec is 8Jx16 ET60, which means 16" diameter rim, 8" width rim with 60mm offset. I can see beadlock wheels in 16x8 spec, but most offset is 30mm instead of 60mm, so not sure if it fits? D. Bash plates to protect the underbody... Anything else to add to the list that is important as a first series of mods? Thanks in advance folks...

  12. I have taken out my Y62 Nissan Patrol (with platinum bumpers) out for a Masterclass and an absolute newbie drive. Both times I have damaged the bumper and I want to change to a better off road bumper. Has anyone modified their Patrol bumper and where do you recommend I can get this done?

  20. Hey Team, I bought a 2nd hand Jeep wrangler JKU. The previous owner added a 2.5 inches liftkit and a huge 35inches tyres. I do realize now that this is not the optimal setup for climbing hills or getting the best performance and milage out of this car. I'm also struggling with deciding on the best jack for this car. A hydrolic jack seems not efficient. A hi-lift needs to be mounted, and it needs a stable surface and a good lifting angles. Is a hilift jack my only option? What about the x exhaust jack?
  21. Hello, Since I'm still 2 drives away from making into to Fewbie level i don't have any Carnity drives to join this weekend, presumably because some people are taking some time off and others just went to Liwa, this is fine except i'd love to go out anyway. Anyone know any newbie friendly activities where i can take like 3 cars out and do some stuff? looking to do some camping over night if possible and as safely as possible. Doesn't have to be dune bashing or a desert drive necessarily, just looking to venture into the great outdoors.

  25. Hi, I have a SWB 2011 3.5 Pajero and I really want that extra bit of power. I’ve seen a lot of people say getting a tune isn’t worth it and doesn’t make much of a difference and ive also seen a lot of people say getting a tune is definitely worth it and makes a huge difference for Pajeros. Can anyone give me some advice and feedback if they’ve got a tune on a Paj. Have you had any problems after getting the tune? Is tuning an old car worth it? Will i have more problems arise if i tune an old car? Does it really make that much of a difference? What else did you change on the car when getting a tune, or did you keep it stock? I’m also thinking of getting custom headers made for my Paj, does anyone know where I can get this done in Dubai for a reasonable price. Thanks
