changing Brake Pads

Changing brake pads is an easy task but still needs lot of patience. Changing the brake pad is under the car job, so make sure that you put use jack stands to secure your car. Follow these steps:

  1. To change the brake pads, first you need to ensure whether there is a requirement to change the brake pads or not. If you feel that your brakes are not being applied properly when you are pressing the pedal, it means brake pads are failing and you need to change it.
  2. Now, to replace the brake pads with a new one, the structure of the new brake pads should be same as the old one. If you are not sure about the specification, check your car manual.
  3. Now to change the brake pads, jack up your cover and secure it with jack stand as you have to go under the car.
  4. Loosen the lug nuts from the wheel, and remove the wheel.
  5. The brake pads are located under the wheel. Remove the caliper by loosening the lug nuts. Calipers are still connected by the brake line, so don’t just leave it but keep it properly so that they are not hanging via brake line. Now when you turn over the caliper, you will see the brake pads. The structure of the new brake pads should be same as of the old brake pads. Now unscrew all the bolts holding the brake pads and remove the brake pad.
  6. Install the new one in place of old pad, and screw the bolts back. You need to reattach the wheel the same way you removed it.

The job is done! Changing brake pads is an easy job, but still if you are doing it for the first time, make sure that you have complete kit required to remove the brake pads. And also have an assistant who can guide you while you are performing this task.
