Nissan Sunny B15 Acceleration problem

Recommended Posts

I own a Nissan Sunny 2003 JDM Model (B15).

I'm not a car geek, so I'm afraid I may not be able to explain the issue well.

I'm recently having some sluggish Acceleration issue with the car.

For example one morning I wasn't getting any speed on the acceleration.

Looks like it's moving with the speed of lifting the break.

I shut it down and went home. After few hours I came back and started it.

All of a sudden it came back normal with a very fast acceleration.

Is that a Known issue with the car?

Have anyone experience this before?

If so, what might be some probable solution?

I'd be really helped.

Thank You

While experiencing the hesitation, have you also experience any excessive smoke especially white smoke? When this happened car was overheating? Have you check the coolant level and color is fine? What I am suspecting is that car must have overheated while driving without coolant or less coolant and that resulted in sudden power loss. However once car engine overheat and head gasket leaks, it causes massive power loss, but on the contrary if head gasket leaks then it can never be fine again unless you open the engine head and change that damaged gasket. May be more experience technical guys can shed some more light.

No smoke at all.

No overheat as well. The engine condition seems really good.

The temperature gauge was fine as well.

The car's condition is pretty well in comparison to the mileage.

Thanks a lot for your opinion.

If it's just one of incident, I wouldn't bother much but just remove, check, clean and install all spark plug once to eliminate any doubt for foul plug or loose HT leads (if any).

For sure loose spark plug wire must have caused this, whenever happen again just tap on wires and see if it correct the issue then you need the new spark plug wires....

Thank you.

I'll try this if it happens next time.

@Aumio as per my experience I had similar issue of my LR Discovery loosing power when operating at optimum operating temperature. However switch it off for 30 minutes and start it up with cooler engine and it used to be fine. This problem also occurred when my petrol tank was half or less than half. The solution as it turned out was simple, the fuel pump for my Disco had gone bad. Try checking the fuel pump, that might solve your problem.
