2010 Infiniti G37 review

Recommended Posts

Think of the G37 as a more luxury-focused version of the Nissan 370Z as they are essentially the same car underneath the unique metalwork.

They share the same basic rear-wheel drive platform, the same 3.7-litre V6 engine and the same seven-speed automatic gearbox. However, they are set up in two distinct manners – the Nissan Z being the more sporting of the two.

That’s not to say the Infiniti loses out on the sporting side of things – far from it. Where the Infiniti does score points above the Nissan though is in the practicality stakes – the G37 Coupe is capable of seating four (at a pinch), whereas the 370Z is just for two. The longer wheelbase needed to fit people into the back of the G37 Coupe means that the Infiniti isn’t quite as sharp as the Nissan to drive, but overall it’s still a cracking drive.

Some of the key features that helps the G37 to stand out from other coupes include the optional four-wheel active steer system. At high speeds, the rear wheels turn against the angle of the front wheels in unison with the steering wheel being turned – this helps the G37 turn sharper around corners. At low speeds, the rear wheels turn the same angle as the front wheels aiding manoeuvrability. If it all sounds a bit complicated to get your head around, don’t worry. All you need to know is that it works rather well indeed. As do the four-piston performance brakes which are standard fit.

Inside, there’s plenty of high-end technology including an excellent 3D sat-nav system, Bluetooth phone connectivity and a Bose stereo system.

In addition to being offered as a two-door Coupe, the G37 is also offered in convertible form with folding metal hardtop roof and as a four-door sedan.
