yamyam
Can anybody help me with advice on somewhere to get my 2001 SLK roof machanism to work, without taking it into the main dealer who will charge the earth. I have been told that maybe a STAR (computerized system that reads faults) is first hing to have checked. I would first like to pay for an investigation to get a quote for the cost fixing. Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks YamYam

Mach3
You must find the cause of this problem in order to fix it in a proper way. I know that people often have problems because they apply pressure on this part of the car (placing a box on the roof or something similar). If this is the case then you will have to change some smaller parts of this mechanism and you can definitely do that on your own.
