Why dose the fuel gauge keep fluctuating?

the fuel gauge keeps fluctuating its not cooperating. when i start the car it shows half full. when i keep the engine on and not moving it goes low to 1/4th. As i am driving it goes upto 1/2 again.

i had same problem and which i got it fixed that is why when i googled this i got this question as i wanted to reconfirm what i did was correct

so what i did was get the sensor changed. and it has solved the problem as of now bit i dont know for sure this is it.

it is definitely the sensor or there is a computer issue that sends message how much fuel i there in the tank.

definitely sensor faulty dont worry cant be anything else.
