  1. So what dose it sound like ? V6!!!
  2. Hoped I can join, but still have work commitments. Looking forward for another Early Morning Drive !!!
  3. You can check at Ace Hardwear or Picnico ( Colman) distributor in Jumairah for camping equipment yet you can still source those from Carrefour and other supermarket . Unfortunately , I do have work on Fridays can't skip , yet even if I manage I have visitors at home and can't fit all into one car. May on a next occasion or an early morning drive , I adore mountains drives to change a bit from sand!
  4. Most welcome , yet hope to call you with a name .
  5. Yes there is . I have been to Ramy and they do tailor made ones . Quoted me for skid plate including recovery points , shakles and tubular front bumper gard and where to mount off road lights AED 3500 /- !!! Is it a fair price if yes and interested we can have better deal for two cars?
  6. They are still under Landies ( Range Rover By Land Rover)
  7. So we need to find one! We have on board of our club two fantastic guys one with a Disco 98 and the other with a Rangy 4.8
  8. I think DOC meant Jan but typed DEC / DOC !!! It is the same one.
  9. looking for a Bull Guard but then I think it is better to invest in a skid plate with proper recovery points and yet used as Jacking Point. Any suggestions or ideas and where I can source and and how much will cost approximately . But the most important is to protect the steering and give the car a nicer look.
  10. Hi Doc , it will be a Tuesday 20 Dec yes. Nice one , only Car meeting no fun drive? By all means, will keep ready!
  11. My 99 Disco1 used to get off sometimes while parking and twice when offroading the first time it did start after 15 minutes from trying everything and suddenly started again ! Battery is good , all wires and fuses functioning properly . The second misfortune was when it never started again been obliged with help of friends to tow it from fossil rock to Maliha and started the starter. And guess what it is working with no problem so far!
  12. VCO website is www.emarat4x4.com If you can make it this Friday it would be fantastic . Hope to see you soon and exchange some ideas about cars mods. In fact still looking for a Bull Guard but then I think it is better to invest in a skid plate with proper recovery points and yet used as Jacking Point. Because lately one of the Hooks I installed got broken while trying to recover the car from Fossil Rock to main road ( Starter burnt and Car never started)
  13. Hi VCO, I have joined few clubs but just been with Emarat4x4, yet I joined lately Dubai Offroaders and Almost 4x4. Due to work constraint the most active club for Early Morning Drives it seems Emarat 4x4. You enjoy an early moring drive with sun rise and fantastic breeze , you finish by max 10 am before being too hot, and still you have pleanty of time for family !!!
  14. Hi Jarktosh , as the Doctor said , otherwise take it to a herbalist I had the same problem with my Disco 1 1999 model which ended up with a clogged radiator . They managed to open it and totally cleaning it and returned it as brand new for 150AED never heated after . Even though the thermometer never showed higher or above limit reading yet had a pressure defuse from the coolant reservoir lid preside cap !!!
  15. Hi VCO , let's first get to catch up on one of the drives planned and group ourselves for a landy drive as a next step ! What do you say guys ?
  16. There is an early drive trip for Fewbie level this coming Friday any one would like to attend please advise. Trip starts at 6 am at Badayer heading to Iftar Bowl then have some fun on untapped dunes and exit by 9 am. Any takers !!! VCO , Manuel what do you think . The people I join are experienced and fun company at all times !
  17. Fantastic Manuel, looking forward for some drives together, you are most welcomed to join our drives as well. Please keep us posted and let’s come up with something for all the Land Rover Lovers!!!
  18. Hi All Landy Lovers, My name is Ghassan and owner of my first desert toy late this June. My Goldy is a 1999 Discovery 1, V8 mounted on Michelin LTX 265/70/16 tiers, with rear fender camel cut. It was due to Desert Dude and other online friends that made me convinced and fall in love with such car and I do love it the way it is. Yet thinking of a lift and to have a Steering Gard Plate with proper recovery points and lifting points. Actively involved with Desert Off-roading and trips and looking for more Landies to be on board of trips. Ghassan
  19. Dear All, What's up guys, thought you were all looking for the nice cool weather to be back to start posting some Drives for all lovely fans and owners of Land Rovers. I own a Land Rover Disco 1 , 1999 Model , been several times with it into the Desert with one of Dubai nice and active off-road clubs (Emarat 4x4) we have very few members with Land Rovers ( Disco / RR / Defender ) total 5 , looking for more Landies on board to have some balance with all the Jeeps everywhere around Last week we have been to Area 53 and Iftar Bowl, the previous week been to Camel Rock and Fossil Rock, and looking for more. You can check some nice pictures on the Facebook Page Emarat4x4.com and register as well to become a member in the website. Looking to hear from you... Ghassan
  20. Hi VCO, I have bought as well a Disco 1 1999 Model and put on it Michelin Latitude 265/70/R16 tiers. The only Mod I was obliged to do is Camel Cut for rear fenders. Yet if your Desert Drives are on very rough and over spoilt sand this will make your car bottom up from time to time specially with strong climbing hills (large big dunes) as you need more speed and momentum. Other disadvantage is steering as you have bigger wheels it becomes a bit much difficult for fast maneuvering and parking, especially that you rub your radius arm of your right wheel when turning full lock to the right. Might need stopper adjustment. Otherwise, everything is good and perfect. Didn't opt yet for any lift kit but most important thing to start with for your car is Recovery points for Front and back as it is very important for Off-roading. Maybe we need to meet on one of the Drives. I attend Emirates 4x4 Club Drives on several occasions and it is pretty fun, yet looking for more Landy Company as I have 4 other Club Member Friends in a RR and 2 LR 1, and a Defender ....
  21. Hi I hope you had changed yours. I have 98 Disco that I bought one month ago and the first thing I have done is to change the stock tiers 235/70/16 to new Michelin Latitude Ones 265/70/16 but with that you need to Trime your rear fenders with the Camel Cut as it will be rubbing when flexing or offroading. I had lately come threw a very nice equation to know the exact hight of a new tire to compare how much lift will give you a new tire and is as follows: Formula (a/b/c) Height in inch = [(a x 0.b x 2)/ 25.232] + c Exemple: (235/70/16) Height = ( 235 x 0.7 x 2 / 25.232) + 16 = 29.03 inch New Tyer (265/70/16) Height = (265 x 0.7 x 2 / 25.232) + 16 = 30.7 inch The new tyer will give you an additional clearence of 30.7-29.03 = 1.67 inch For the proposed size you will have a new height of 32.34 inch i.e. 3.3 inch which I think is quite too big unless you are looking for an additional body lift of 2 inch minimum then I think you need a lader to reach your car 2 inch lift + 3.3 = 5.3 inch equivalant to 10cm additional height from stock!!! I hope I am not mistaken. Regards, Gas
  22. I have heard a lot of negative stories about Ford Explorer performance when Off-roading on desert drives. Some says that the front bumper is the most vulnerable part, as well as clearance (path) especially when riding dunes of that most of the times you get stuck. Others said that you might have transmission problems etc. Do you have any suggestion; is it a myth or reality? What about have some accessories for Bumper protection and is it advisable to have a Lift Kit 2.5" Front and 1.5" back?? Do you plan any off-roading for explorer's owners?? Looking to have your comments. Kind Regards.
  23. Dear Ford Owners, I had my Explorer one month ago. So far no major complaints, it is doing fine with 200 KM daily drive. It can accelerate pretty well even in par with other cars. Just one complaint with the AC there no close circuit i.e. always getting fresh air and that is not pretty good specially if you are driving in a polluted area or stuck in traffic with lots of co2 emission. Any solution for this? The second comment is that I would like to have a front deflector for the car to prevent insects and stone from hitting and scratching the front of the car on main high speed roads. Where I can find one compatible with 2010 model ?
