  1. Interesting! I would also like to add Tires as well. I mean tires are as important as other parts in a car. So i suppose one needs to take proper care of the tires as well. Avoiding rash driving, off road driving and potholes driving is really good for maintaining tires and give them a better life.
  2. It’s easy to change the windshield wiper blades in a car. Follow the mentioned things in order and you are good to go: At first, you need to buy new wiper blades which should be exactly same dimension and shape as of the old one. If you are not sure about the dimension, just go through your car manual, it’s mentioned there. If not, you can take the old wiper blades to the auto shop and get the exact same one. Now, to install new wiper blades you need to unhook the old wipers first. What you can do is, raise the windshield wiper away from the glass to avoid any deep scratch on the glass. There is a hook connecting the blades to the wipers. Unhook the old blades from the wiper and install the new blades replacing them. But do not pull the hook with too much force, it may break the hook. Just remember, you don’t have to break the hook, you just have to unhook the old blade. If you break the hook, you might have to replace the complete wiper system from the car which by the way is an expensive maintenance. But make sure that you do this keeping the wiper away from the windshield. Windshield is quite sensitive and delicate if you are performing any DIY on any part connected to it. My friend did it once, and he got a deep scratch on the windshield because of it. So avoid doing anything near to the windshield. If you want to replace the wipers on the rear glass as well; you have to follow the same procedure. In addition, if your car is under warranty then I suppose your dealer can do it for free. If not, DIY is the best thing you can do.
  3. No, but this is wrong. Beforewhen i got the shaft fitted, it was covered under the warranty. You need to ask the justification from them that why is it not included in the warranty? Or did you do any repair or replacement from outside, may be local workshop? If yes, then they are not wrong. The warranty expired the minute who get your car fixed from outside.
  4. Thanks for the info man! But there is no photo attached with your post.
  5. Hey people. We all know about engine overheating. Can someone discuss the consequence of overheated engine?
  6. There is an air pressure reader that every mechanic has. The pressure can be checked using that.
  7. How is Engine balancing done in a Kia car?
  8. Changing brake pads is an easy task but still needs lot of patience. Changing the brake pad is under the car job, so make sure that you put use jack stands to secure your car. Follow these steps: To change the brake pads, first you need to ensure whether there is a requirement to change the brake pads or not. If you feel that your brakes are not being applied properly when you are pressing the pedal, it means brake pads are failing and you need to change it. Now, to replace the brake pads with a new one, the structure of the new brake pads should be same as the old one. If you are not sure about the specification, check your car manual. Now to change the brake pads, jack up your cover and secure it with jack stand as you have to go under the car. Loosen the lug nuts from the wheel, and remove the wheel. The brake pads are located under the wheel. Remove the caliper by loosening the lug nuts. Calipers are still connected by the brake line, so don’t just leave it but keep it properly so that they are not hanging via brake line. Now when you turn over the caliper, you will see the brake pads. The structure of the new brake pads should be same as of the old brake pads. Now unscrew all the bolts holding the brake pads and remove the brake pad. Install the new one in place of old pad, and screw the bolts back. You need to reattach the wheel the same way you removed it. The job is done! Changing brake pads is an easy job, but still if you are doing it for the first time, make sure that you have complete kit required to remove the brake pads. And also have an assistant who can guide you while you are performing this task.
  9. Car flywheel is a crucial part of the car system that one needs to take care of. Check for the following things in your corolla, 2007 model: Slippery Gear: If you have manual transmission car, and you feel that it’s difficult for you to change the gears in your car. If the gear is slipping back to the previous gear and not jumping to the next one, it can be because of the defective flywheel. The grinding noise from the gear is a common noise you hear when the flywheel goes back. The oil gets contaminated in this case and also there is no proper friction in the car. Whenever you try to jump to the next gear, your car will not speed up to the required time and may take a longer time to do that. Toasted Smell: If you can realize a toasting bread smell in your car, it means the flywheel is not working properly. There are lots of people who press clutch for no reason sometimes. This is called unnecessary clutch driving. This type of driving results into bad smell which means excessive heat in the clutch. Too much vibration: When there is vibration in the clutch whenever you press it, its sign of failing flywheel. This kind of vibration you can actually feel on the ground of the car. Don’t ignore such a thing, as it will surely fail the clutch of your car. It happens when the flywheel has no ability to produce the high pulses in the car. Vibration is really bad coming from the clutch, as it not only affects the clutch component but the complete flywheel system. If you are facing these problems in your car it means you have defective flywheel. And defective flywheel needs to be diagnosed as soon as possible. SO don’t wait for other defects in your car, and take your back to the dealer.
  10. It seems your car is having lot of troubles. You can actually ask for statement from your dealer, on what exactly they are repairing and how much is the estimated time required? Write an email to them and inspect what they are actually doing!
  11. Checking the relay is really easy and trust me, money saving. To check the relay, to need to remove the main relay from the system. You will see lot of numbered terminals on the relay. What you need to do is, you need to connect the battery terminals to be relay terminals. There is a particular structure to connect the battery to the relay. First, connect positive terminal of the battery to terminal 4 and negative terminal to 8, and check for the continuity/functioning between terminal 5 and 7. Next, connect positive terminal to 5 and negative to 2 and check the functioning between 1 and 3 terminal. Repeat the same by connecting positive to 3 and negative to 8 and check for the functioning between 5 and 7. If this whole process, if at any point you notice that the terminal functioning is bad it mean the relay is damaged. But if the functioning of terminals is proper then the main relay is perfectly fine.
  12. Well, this happens when the tie road is worn out. It’s a common problem when you are driving your car off-road or really speedy even on breakers. The thrust arm bushing is the main cause for it. It’s not a big issue, but can result into big expense, so better take your car to the garage.
  13. Well I feel sorry for you. But I may know why this noise in coming. I had the same issue few weeks back. The dealer was unable to diagnose (as usual). I took it to the local dealer, and they reported that the seat brackets were broken and they replaced it. After that I don’t hear such a nose. May be the same issue in your car. Tell your dealer to check for the seat brackets under the driver’s seat.
  14. You should not drive your car in such a situation. As your stiff brakes may lead to an accident. The main reason why this is happening can be because of the brake fade. You need to go the garage and get the brake lining checked. May be the brake lining is too hot and too thin.
  15. It depends on the maintenance of the van emad. Which ever year the car was manufactured, if it is free from accident and regularly maintained, it makes it way better than any car who had an accident. Along with that, check for any kind of replacement done in a car. Check for the quality of the oil used in the car. Regularly servicing of the an also plays an important role. Also take a test drive of the car and scan if the drive smooth or rough. I think 2007 Astro model is good, but also verify the oil consumption in the van. Its really necessary to avoid any unncecessary maintenance cost.
  16. I bought Toyota Avalon in 2010. I was a proud owner of this car unless one day the car started decelerating on its own. It was scary as my whole family with 2 kids was inside the car. All my family members starting gazing at me with a question? Why is this happening? I took my car to the dealer, and it is still with them. They are not able to diagnose what’s wrong and that’s why they are taking so long. I mean seriously! I never missed a service. What’s wrong with them?
  17. I want to personally check the brake fluid level in my 207cc. My local dealer informed me yesterday that the brake fluid level is really low and it may result into brake failure. But I really don’t trust this guy. So is it possible to check the brake fluid from my eyes? If yes, then how?
  18. The engine of my 206cc is overheating from 2 days. What can be the possible reason?
  19. I think the battery of my SC430, 2013 model is draining rapidly. How can I test the battery of my car? Does anyone know? Please tell me.
