  1. Get the computer code of fault and clear it and see if it comes back again after you start or after few kms driving, then that means there is something wrong and chang that part as the fault code. In some case it shows up just like that, and once you clear the code it doesnt come back again.

  2. It need to be changed by mechanic as you need to raise the vehicle and open the drain bolt on gear box. While doing this highly advisable to change the filter too, for you defintely need a mechanic and then once installed fill up with OEM gear oil ONLY.

  3. White smoke: White smoke is caused by water and or antifreeze entering the cylinder, and the engine trying to burn it with the fuel. The white smoke is steam. There are special gaskets (head gaskets are the primary gaskets) that keep the antifreeze from entering the cylinder area. The cylinder is where the fuel and air mixture are being compressed and burned. Any amount of antifreeze that enters this area will produce a white steam that will be present at the tailpipe area.

If white smoke is present, check to see if the proper amount of antifreeze is inside the radiator and the overflow bottle. Also check to see if antifreeze has contaminated the engine oil. You can look at the engine oil dipstick, or look at the under side of the engine oil filler cap. If the oil is contaminated with antifreeze, it will have the appearance of a chocolate milkshake. Do not start the engine if the oil is contaminated with antifreeze, as serious internal engine damage can result.

How did antifreeze get in the oil or cylinder in the first place? The engine probably overheated and a head gasket failed due to excessive heat, thus allowing antifreeze to enter the cylinder (Where it is not meant to be).

Blue Smoke: Blue smoke is caused by engine oil entering the cylinder area and being burned along with the fuel air mixture. As with the white smoke, just a small drop of oil leaking into the cylinder can produce blue smoke out the tailpipe. Blue smoke is more likely in older or higher mileage vehicles than newer cars with fewer miles.

How did the engine oil get inside the cylinder in the first place? The car has many seals, gaskets, and O-rings that are designed to keep the engine oil from entering the cylinder, and one of them has failed. If too much oil leaks into the cylinder and fouls the spark plug, it will cause a misfire (engine miss) in that cylinder, and the spark plug will have to be replaced or cleaned of the oil. Using thicker weight engine oil or an oil additive designed to reduce oil leaks might help reduce the amount of oil leaking into the cylinder.

Black Smoke: Black smoke is caused by excess fuel that has entered the cylinder area and cannot be burned completely. Another term for excess fuel is "running rich." Poor fuel mileage is also a common complaint when black smoke comes out of the tailpipe. Black smoke out the tailpipe is the least cause for alarm. Excess fuel will usually effect engine performance, reduce fuel economy, and produce a fuel odor.

How did the fuel get into the cylinder in the first place? Some of the causes of excess fuel are a carburetor that is out of adjustment, a faulty fuel pump, a leaky fuel injector, or a faulty engine computer or computer sensor. If black smoke is present, check the engine oil as in the white smoke example to make sure excess fuel has not contaminated it. Do not start the engine if a heavy, raw fuel smell can be detected in the engine oil. Call your mechanic and advise him of what you have found.

I hope this helps you determine what could be causing your engine smoke, and the possible reasons behind the smoke.

  4. few drops of water at exhaust in morning start up is very healthy sign, other signs is different.

Check for head gasket ageing and wear sign.

-If oil and water is mixed in engine oil section

    -if car is overheating

    -if car losses power noticeable.

(either or all) means head gasket need change.

Get your engine cylinder compression test from reputed mechanic to be confirmed whether head gasket change is sure or not.

  5. step 1

unplug mas/vas from corragated intake tube

using 8mm with ratchet, loosen the intake clamp from the intake elbo. using the panel popper, pry up on filter box from each side, disconnect cold air tube and resinator. give a good pull upwards to seperate the filter box from the fan shroud. twist the whole box and intake tube untill the intake tube gives, then just pull back. the whole intake comes out.

    step 2

using 10mm 1/4" ratchet with 8" of extention(s) pull 4 coarse thread bolts from sides of fan shroud, then 3 bolts on the top. pull up on the passenger side of the shroud untill it clears the rad cap. you will have to battle with the throttle cable and upper rad hose, but don't remove the rad hose. best way is to get your right arm under both and allow shroud top to pull up from passenger side. you will want to compress the top to clear the master cylinder.

    step 3

fan removal and belt removal. get out the air chisle. you don't need much but there is a method to using. chisle to the left and carefully engrave the left side of a flat on the fan nut. as soon as the fan nut moves, it's enough. take channel lock pliers and loosen 1 full turn, then just spin the fan off by hand... unless the clutch is worn, then you have to spin with your hand.then pull out the lower fan shroud from passenger side. there are 3 tabs that will need to be released. using a breaker bar with 3/8" adaptor with 3/8" extention. release pressure from the tentioner and remove belt.

Hope this helps and get the clutch fan assembly out.

  6. Its sound too good to belive that in this part of world, that dealer do aything for FREE for good relationship. BBBBBAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH.

It must be some loose wire, socket or adapter they must have touched and light went off and they quietly handed over car to you. Better go back again and ask them to change that part to finish this recurring issue and it cud be life taking in case of accident your air bag doesnt blow out.

  7. Change the thermostat to be more suitable to dubai temp, i guess its 76.5 degree centi or 82.5.

usually in american specs cars is at 90 and thats why it makes little trouble here in GCC with hot climate.

The faster thermostat open and rotate water cooler the car will be here. On high speed car has enough air flow to cool the water in radiator and thats why u arent seeing temp on 180.

  8. I have 2002 Tahoe american specs in dubai. Its gear is getting quite jerky than before. It happened very slowly over period of 3 months and its increasing amount of jerk in shifting automatic gear. Any help or leads in DIY is highly appreciated. thanks guys.
