The filter should be replaced at this time a well. This service should be performed every 2 years or 50,000 kms. Ford Brake Fluid Replacement/Flush Brake fluid accumulates moisture and contamination from component wear over time and unless replaced every 50,000 kms or 2 years, can cause brake system damage. Ford Cabin Air Filter Replacement Over time the Cabin Filter(s) will accumulate dirt, pollen and debris which can leak in to the passenger compartment if left unchecked. They should be replaced every year or 25,000 kms. Ford Coolant Replacement/Flush Engine coolant breaks down, gets rusty and becomes contaminated with debris from component wear over time and can cause engine or cooling system damage if not replaced every 2 years or 50,0000 kms. Ford Drive Belt(s) Replacement Drive belts crack and become glazed over time and can squeak or even break. They should be replaced every 75,000 kms. 14. Few vehicles can match the Excursion in terms of sheer impact on the highway. Ford’s biggest SUV boasts three rows of seats, with a capacity of up to nine adults, plus best-in-class interior volume and space. Everything about this SUV is matched in scale: the engines on offer are big in capacity as is its external dimensions. The exteriors of Excursion models show off bodyside alterations that complement their tough, robust style. The XLS model has body colour mouldings while chrome tubular running boards are options on the four-wheel-drive XLT, Eddie Bauer and Limited models. Several design touches underscore ease and convenience. While nearly all SUVs have either a tailgate or lift-glass rear cargo door, Excursion blends both features into its Tri-Panel door system. The door has a separate lift-glass for convenient small-parcel loading and lightweight twin swing-out composite doors with no visibility-blocking centre pillar. There are four trim levels to choose from: XLS, XLT, Eddie Bauer and Limited trims, all with an assortment of handy accessories. A dual-media audio system is standard on XLS, XLT and Eddie Bauer models while a six-disc in-dash CD player is standard on Limited. In the cabin, adjustable pedals are available on XLT, Eddie Bauer and Limited models. An overhead console is fitted with auxiliary air conditioning controls, courtesy lights and bins for a garage door opener and sunglasses while a second-row overhead console includes auxiliary climate controls. An equally large 6.8-litre SOHC Triton V10 engine that churns out 330 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque propels this particularly hefty and heavy SUV, giving it the muscle to haul this massive vehicle in an unexpectedly lively manner. A five-speed TorqShift automatic transmission is employed to transfer power to the ground. A rear obstacle detection system is optional with XLT models while dual front airbags and antilock 4-wheel disc brakes are standard. Equipment levels are fine and there is more than adequate room inside for the occupants to lounge in comfort. The Excursion gives you a good ride (mostly due to sheer weight) and the handling does an acceptable job of making up for its mass. But don’t expect much in the way of driver involvement or crisp dynamics – this vehicle is utility overkill, no more and no less. SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2007-ford-excursion-review/
  15. The Five Hundred is the newest full-size sedan to be added in the regional Ford line-up and is the company’s interpretation of the modern American sedan. Unlike most of its European cousins that boast Ford’s new ‘kinetic’ design philosophy in their styling, this model follows the path of proven emotional appeal of the American designed and produced Ford Fusion. Ford Five Hundred (note that the name is written in words and is not numerically addressed) features the brand’s signature three-bar chrome grille, a sculpted bonnet with crisp accent lines and a new front fascia chamfered at the outer edges, adding more structure to the design. Ford Five Hundred is offered in SEL and Limited trims. Big and roomy inside, the car features a tall roof that offers lots of headroom. The driver sits relatively high, gaining a commanding view of the road. The car’s 8-way powered driver seat comes with memory settings. Its rear seats are comfortable, roomy, and fold down to increase cargo capacity. The car’s cabin is a nice mix of leather and wood with generous equipment levels. In terms of interior space, the Ford Five Hundred ranks high on spaciousness scale. With the front-passenger seat folded down, up to nine feet long goods/packages can fit in the car. Irrespective of the trim levels, only one power train set-up is offered which is a 263hp 3.5-litre V6 engine mated to the six-speed automatic transmission as found in the new Ford Edge. This large car comes with Ford’s all-wheel-drive system. With a plush suspension system that is so typical of American cars, a comfortable ride is assured with no compromises on the handling. Large disc brakes come with anti-lock brake system (ABS). With standard air bags and available electronic stability control, the 2008 Ford Five Hundred compares is in sync with its competitors. The Five Hundred is not just a traditional sedan; it’s also a traditional Ford. In many ways, its like old wine in an old bottle. 16. Few car names can be as iconic as Ford’s Mustang. It’s a performance car, but about as far removed from that other prancing horse – Ferrari – as it’s possible to get. Ford’s recipe over more than 40 years of Mustang history has been a big engine, plenty of horsepower, power through the rear wheels and a classic muscle car look. No F1-inspired technology here, just good old-fashioned engineering. The Mustang fits into the modern muscle-car category shared by the Chevrolet Camaro and the Dodge Challenger. The Mustang has received a substantial tweak for the 2010 model year, but underneath new bodywork and specifications, it’s largely the same car as released in 2005. Modernised features include all of the bodywork save for the roof – while the same general shape has been retained, the overall look of the 2010 car is sleeker and slightly less square than its predecessor. But the squat stance and high shoulder lines by the tiny rear side windows remain, as do plenty of other touches that hark back to the Mustangs of the late 60s and early 70s, including the rear lights, headlights and grille. The turning lights, which feature three sequential bulbs lighting up from the inside, are a direct reference to cars of that era. 2010 Ford MustangJust one version of the Mustang is available in the region, the GT, but it does come in either coupe or convertible form. Local dealers may do packages based around this grade, with different options. The sole trim level is the Mustang GT Premium, and includes 18-inch painted aluminium wheels as standard. Polished aluminium versions, and 19-inch wheels are available as an option. Other standard equipment includes automatic high visibility halogen headlights, a rear spoiler and a keyless entry system. Inside, there’s a leather-wrapped steering wheel with aluminium spokes that adjusts for rake, but not reach. The aluminium effect continues around the car with numerous inserts and scuff plates. The seats are leather and adjust electrically for the driver. The rear seats can be folded down in the coupe for extra boot space. 2010 Ford MustangAn eight-speaker stereo with a six-CD changer provides the sounds and there’s an auxiliary input socket for MP3 players. Ford’s SYNC system provides voice activation for the radio and CD player, as well as for iPods, which can be connected directly into the system. The centre console houses an armrest and lockable storage space and floor mats are included for the front. Cruise control is standard, and an interesting feature is the option to pick one of six different colours for the instrument lighting. The rest of the interior lighting is blue. Options include a glass roof on the coupe and a rear view camera to help make parking easier. 2010 Ford MustangUnder the bonnet of the Mustang GT is a 4.6-litre V8 engine, producing 315bhp and 441Nm of torque. A five-speed manual transmission is standard, but most in the Middle East will opt for the five-speed automatic in its place. Safety features include Ford’s AdvanceTrac electronic stability control system, front and front side airbags and a tyre pressure monitoring system as well as LATCH child safety seat anchor points. The convertible version boasts a soft roof that folds away at the touch of a button. 2010 Ford Mustang2010 Ford Mustang Price (AED): 140,000 – 170,000 Engine: 4.6-litre V8 Max power: 315bhp @ 6,000rpm Max torque: 441Nm @ 4,250 Transmission: 5M/5A Body styles: Coupe, Convertible Weight: 1,603kg (Coupe, manual transmission) Trim levels: GT Premium SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2010-ford-mustang-gt/
  17. The Edge is Ford’s premium mid-size crossover, which unlike the slab-sided Flex offers a more butch SUV like styling. In terms of size the Edge is smaller than the Flex and does not have the same interior space or seating capacity as the latter. Unlike rivals like the Chevrolet Traverse the Edge only has two rows of seating and can accommodate up to five adults only. The Edge imbibes Ford’s new family look with the upright three-slat chrome grille, which along with the blunt nose and chunky headlamps create a SUV-like intimidating fascia. On the inside the Edge feels more like a sedan. The 2010 Edge is available in three trims – SEL, Limited and Sport – all powered by a sole 3.5-litre V6 engine that produces 265bhp and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The Edge comes with front wheel drive as standard but a useful all-wheel drive system is available as an option on all variants. Built primarily for the tarmac and not the rough the Edge is reputed to offer crisp, sedan-like handling matched with a pliant ride. Useful features available on the 2010 Ford Edge include Ford’s SYNC entertainment and communication system, a voice-activated navigation system and a large panoramic roof. A power liftgate and 20-inch chrome wheels are optional. The Sport trim comes with a unique 20-inch painted alloy wheels, sport exterior kit, unique leather seats and steering and sporty aluminium inserts on the inside. Standard safety equipment includes ABS, front-seat side airbags, side-curtain airbags and stability control. Ford unveiled the next-generation 2011 Ford Edge in February 2010. It features new powertrain options, revised front fascia, wheels, rear bumper with LED taillights along with a revamped interior. At the time of going to press, there’s was no news on when it would arrive in the UAE. SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2010-ford-edge/
  18. The Escape is Ford’s entry-level SUV, aimed at those looking at a compact SUV that is convenient for city driving and can handle a bit of the rough too. In 2008, Ford introduced a majorly revised Escape that gained a more masculine exterior inspired by its bigger siblings, the Explorer and the Expedition. The big chrome grille, squared headlights, chunky front bumper and flared wheel arches give the Escape a purposeful look. The new generation Escape also got a revised interior and new powertrain options, which made it a competent compact SUV at its price point. The 2010 Escape continues in its 2009 form except for some new features like Ford’s MyKey (a programmable key that can be programmed to limit speeds for individual users such as children) as well as rear-view camera, park assist and an integrated spotter mirror for improved blind spot viewing. While the Escape looks like a traditional, truck-based SUV it isn’t quite cut out for off-roading. In the Middle East only one engine, a 3.0-litre V6 with 240bhp powers the Escape. It is mated to six-speed automatic transmission and comes with front-wheel drive as standard while full time all-wheel drive is optional. Being a compact SUV the Escape is roomy on the inside and affords a commanding view thanks to the high seating position. The cabin is well laid out and built but appears a tad dated in comparison to Ford’s Flex and Edge crossovers. Available in two trim levels, XLS and XLT the Escape comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, illuminated remote entry, power door locks, windows and mirrors, rear floor air ducts and a CD/MP3 audio system as standard. The XLT packs in more equipment including automatic headlamps, fog lamps, leather steering, compass and outside temperature display, power driver’s seat, keyless entry pad, roof rails and an auto dimming rear view mirror. SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2010-ford-escape/
  19. The Expedition is Ford’s full-size SUV, which battles with the rivals such as the Chevrolet Tahoe, Toyota Land Cruiser and Nissan Armada. The third generation Expedition was launched in the region in late 2006 and continues with substantial tweaks for the 2010 model year. The SUV’s old school design has begun to look dated but the Expedition still holds its own in terms of street presence and performance. The truck based Expedition is available in two trims; XLT and Eddie Bauer (named after a US clothing company) and both can be had in either the normal or a long-wheelbase EL version, which adds about 15 inches to the standard SUVs length. The Expedition can seat up to seven adults and pack in a lot of luggage even with all seats occupied, especially in the long wheel base version. Customers don’t have much choice when it comes to engine options though and the big SUV comes with a sole 310bhp, 5.4-litre flex-fuel V8 engine. This motor is matched to a six-speed automatic transmission that drives either the rear wheels or all four wheels depending on the model. Being Ford’s flagship SUV the Expedition is loaded with features. Available features include leather seats, alloy wheels, Ford’s SYNC voice-activated hands-free communications and entertainment system, a rear view camera, DVD based navigation with a 6.5-inch colour touch screen and voice control, headrest mounted dual DVD screens, a second row console cooler and a keypad entry system. Standard safety features include dual front airbags, side-impact airbags, ABS with EBD and roll stability control. Also available is Ford’s programmable MyKey system, which allows the owner to limit how fast the SUV is driven by others such as children or chauffeurs. 20. The Ford Explorer is Ford’s only mid-size SUV and is slotted between the smaller Ford Escape and the full-size Ford Expedition. When it was first launched over a decade ago the American built Explorer managed to tilt consumer opinion in favour of SUVs as a viable alternative to car. Currently in its fourth generation, the truck based Explorer will move onto a car based platform from the 2011 model year when a new model based on the Explorer America concept will be introduced. The 2010 Ford Explorer is available in the region in two trims – XLT and Eddie Bauer (named after a US clothing company) – and also comes in a twin-cab pick-up variant called the Sport Trac. Sold with a solitary 4.0-litre V6 engine, which produces just 210bhp the Explorer does not get you anywhere in a hurry. Considering that this mid-size SUV can seat up to seven the need for a more powerful engine can be felt on many occasions. Both trims come with a five-speed automatic transmission and Ford’s Control Trac four-wheel-drive system as standard. The Explorer can handle the occasional off-road excursion but is not a serious mud plugger. The 2010 Explorer offers a feature-rich interior but is not as contemporary as some of Ford’s newer offerings. Features include alloy wheels, leather seats, cruise control, with three power points and the SYNC entertainment and communication system for tunes. Automatic headlamps and a flip open rear window are also included. Options like power-folding third-row seats, power front seats and dual zone climate control, as well as a moonroof, navigation system and a rear seat DVD entertainment system make the Explorer even more comfortable for city commuting and long journeys alike. Dual front airbags, front-seat side airbags, curtain airbags and ABS are standard safety features. SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2010-ford-explorer/
  21. The Fiesta supermini is one of Ford’s best selling models globally and its entry-level model in the Middle East. Currently in its sixth generation the majorly revamped Fiesta was launched in the region in 2009. Despite being a budget hatchback the European designed Fiesta boasts of a dynamic and sporty exterior and an upmarket new age interior which is likely to go down well with budget car buyers. The Middle East gets the five-door version with a choice of either an 81bhp, 1.25-litre engine or a 95bhp 1.4-litre unit. Available in three trim versions – base Ambiente, Trend and Titanium – the 1.25-litre unit is available only on the lower two variants and comes only with manual transmission. The Fiesta with the bigger 1.4-litre heart sells more in the region as it is available with a four-speed automatic transmission and can be had in the Titanium trim. Though the equipment list is not long especially on the Fiesta Ambiente, the Titanium comes with power front windows, air conditioning, start button, leather steering, ambient lighting and projector headlamps, as well as a CD/MP3 audio system with USB and front fog lamps. Options include 15 or 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, rear power windows, automatic headlamps and wipers and a rear spoiler. The layout of the interior especially the dashboard is very futuristic and the quality of materials, fit and finish are good too. Because of the Fiesta’s compact dimensions the rear seats are low on legroom especially with the front seats pushed back. Standard safety kit includes dual front airbags and ABS while the Titanium version comes with additional front seat side airbags and knee airbags. Electronic stability control (ESC) is optional on the Trend and Titanium models. SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2010-ford-fiesta/
  22. The Fusion is an American mid-size sedan that was launched in the Middle East in 2008. Pegged just below the similar sized Mondeo, the Fusion has been refreshed for the 2010 model year and features considerable improvements including a revised exterior, interior and powertrain choices. The 2010 model is powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, which produces 175bhp and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Built primarily for the American market the Fusion has a loud fascia with plenty of chrome splattered on the big three-bar grille, fog lamps and air intake surrounds. The Mexico-built Fusion is available in three trim versions; S, SE and high-end SEL which comes with lots of useful equipment. Standard kit on the S includes 17-inch alloy wheels, power windows & locks, CD/MP3 audio system, air conditioning with air filtration system, power mirrors and speed sensitive windshield wipers. The fully loaded SEL comes further equipped with leather seats and steering, power front seats, SYNC Bluetooth system, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, fog lamps, dual exhausts and a door mounted keyless entry pad. Options include rear parking sensors, rear spoiler, navigation system and a power moonroof. Standard safety kit is rather comprehensive and includes dual front airbags, front-seat side airbags, curtain airbags, ABS and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). The Fusion’s interiors are spacious both in the front and the rear and the car has a large boot as well. The seats are supportive and wide while the rear seats split and fold to liberate more luggage space. Build quality is good and the Fusions feels like it will endure years of use. 23. The 2010 Taurus is an all-new family sedan from Ford, launched in the region at the start of 2010. It is the sixth generation model to bear the famous Taurus nameplate and replaces the Ford 500 as Ford’s new flagship sedan. The front-wheel drive car boasts of a dynamic exterior, plush cabin and lots of useful equipment. The standard Taurus is powered by a 263bhp 3.5 litre V6 engine which is mated to a choice of two new six-speed automatic transmissions, one with SelectShift manual shifting capability and paddle shifters (available on SEL and Limited variants). The Taurus rides on 19 or 20-inch wheels and includes many innovative features such as a Blind Spot Information System and an integrated Cross Traffic Alert, which warns drivers of oncoming vehicles which the driver might not be able to see. Radar based adaptive cruise control and a collision warning system also feature on the new Taurus and make the car one of the safest in the segment. Other available features include keyless entry with a keypad system, auto high beam and rain-sensing wipers, as well ass the SYNC voice-activated phone and entertainment system, massage seats, power rear sunshade and a premium audio system. The Taurus also has a sporty variant dubbed the SHO, which is due at the end if 2010. This variant features a more potent 365bhp, 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 engine mated to a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. The SHO Taurus features all-wheel-drive, a mildly stiffer suspension, larger wheels and a rear lip spoiler. Ford boasts of 0 to 100kph time of just over six seconds for the SHO, which is rather good for a car weighing nearly two tonnes. SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2010-ford-taurus/
  24. The Focus is Ford’s compact car, which is hugely popular in Europe but has seen only modest sales in the Middle East. Currently in its second generation, the Focus was revamped in 2008 to keep it fresh until the third generation model arrives in 2011. Available during 2010 only as a more popular five-door hatchback, the Focus features European design cues and is based on Ford’s kinetic design theme, which gives it the latest Ford family look. The front-wheel drive Focus is powered by a base 101bhp, 1.6-litre engine while a larger 146bhp, 2.0-litre engine is also available. Both engines can be had either with a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. The Focus has always been hailed for its direct handling and good ride comfort while the 2.0-litre version offers spirited performance as well. Despite being a compact car, the Focus has a roomy interior and a decent sized boot. The cabin is well laid out and furnished with quality soft touch plastics and premium fabric. Available in four trim versions the base Ambient comes with very limited equipment including air conditioning, front power windows, a basic stereo, ABS and dual front airbags. The top-end Titanium variant is nicely loaded and features 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic projector headlamps, front fog lamps and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, as well as sports-style front seats, premium upholstery, ambient lighting and cruise control. Safety additions include traction control, front seat side and curtain airbags. Standard safety kit includes dual front airbags and ABS. Options include LED taillights, CD changer, USB audio connector and a keyless starter button, as well as xenon adaptive headlights, tyre pressure monitor, sunroof, fog lights, a 230-volt power inverter, side airbags and side thorax airbags. SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2010-ford-focus/
  25. The Mondeo is a European-built mid-size sedan, which has gained a reputation for being a good value family car. A much-improved fourth generation Mondeo was introduced in the region in 2008 to better compete with arch rivals like the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry. Ford is readying a face lifted Mondeo for launch as the 2011 model. The new model will feature new bumpers, a new grill, LED detailing and new powertrain options. The 2010 Mondeo is available in three trim versions; Trend, Ghia and the top-end Titanium. Buyers can choose from two engines; a base 145bhp, 2.0-litre engine available with a five-speed manual gearbox or a 161bhp, 2.3-litre unit mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Sadly the front-wheel drive Mondeo is not available with a V6 engine like many of its competitors. Performance is brisk however and the Mondeo is known for its dynamic handling and refined ride. Ford’s kinetic design theme adds some flair to the exterior, which manages to please most. The interior is contemporary and well laid out but the base versions lack essential conveniences and equipment. The top end Titanium trim however comes loaded with 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, leather wrapped steering, sunroof, power windows, cruise control, keyless entry, faux wood ascents, ambient lighting and B pillar air conditioning ducts. Ford has not compromised on safety and all three versions come with dual front airbags, front-seat side airbags, curtain airbags, driver side knee airbags and ABS with EBD. Options include leather seats, ventilated front seats, sport suspension, front and rear parking sensors, stability control, adaptive cruise control, keyless start button and Xenon adaptive headlights.
