Well in this economy, we can hardly blame them. Its better to get them done in home or in mechanic shops.

Did you grease them properly? And I agree with rajith, it takes some time for it to get smooth.
Normally it takes around 2-3 weeks for them to get easy. So give it a try and then tell us if it doesn't solve your problems.
Try using a fuse puller or a plucker but be careful not to force it though. If it is still not coming out, you might want to get that car to a repair shop. Better a professional fix it that you making it worse.

I don't really think there's much difference when buying either used or new one. Of course, you get to "feel" the car first before you buy it. Only thing to consider is if you buy a used one, you have to make sure you inspect it thoroughly.
