  1. 235 - 285 would be bit over IMHO, 255 is doable. Im not concern about base width gain of 2 or 4 cm in total, but more on height variation which will gain from 32 inch (stock) to 35.38 inch.

    Your current setup: 85% x 235 = 199.75 cm x 2 = 399.5 / 10 (cm) = 39.95 cm / 2.5(inch) = 15.98 + R16 = 31.98 inches tall

    Option 1: 85% x 255 = 216.75 cm x 2 = 433.5 / 10 (cm) = 43.35 cm / 2.5(inch) = 17.34 + R16 = 33.34 inches tall

    Option 2: 85% x 285 = 242.25 cm x 2 = 484.5 / 10 (cm) = 48.45 cm / 2.5(inch) = 19.38 + R16 = 35.38 inches tall

  2. oh this is the story in most of the dealers place god only know what they are going to loose by giving this information what i did after getting frustrated is i went there with my registration card and didnt leave till i got a print out of my service history.

  3. Get 265 BFG or ATR, both are equally good for sand and rock climbing.

Slight different in spare tire wont make any difference if ever you use spare for few days, so i hope you are not only changing to get perfect size but actually you have a need for offroad usage. To be honest tire difference contribute 5% on performance and that climb issue what you are referring having another hidden issue known as real output difference. Check HP and torque for fortuner against its weight and do same for disco.

The Fortuner is available with two engines, the 118 kW (160 PS; 158 hp) rated 2.7 L or the 175 kW (238 PS; 235 hp) rated 4.0 L.

    1999 - 2003 LR Disco: Produced 188 hp (140 kW) at 4,750 rpm and 250 lb·ft (340 N·m) at 2,600 rpm.

    Fortuner: 235 hp / 1800kg = 130 hp/ton

    Disco: 188 hp / 2000 kg = 94hp/ton

Double check the figures, as i have done this very quickly to give you an idea. You can do same for torque figures.

  4. w/o MAF you will get bad fuel mileage for sure and its not advisable. Any other Japanese car will switch off in 2 burps as you disconnect the MAF.

You fluctuation now 600 -1000 is due to AC load. Try switching off AC and it wont fluctuate. Clean the MAF with carburetor cleaner that you can get in any accessory shop and fit it back asap. While at it open the Air filter and clean it, if too dirty or turned dark then buy new one. And spray some carb cleaner on the inside mesh of Air filter neck, thats where MAF sensor sits and monitor the air flow and due to dusty of choked air filter it goes crazy. Clean clean clean.

  5. Removing the alternator

Part one :- Disconnect battery and remove accessory drive belt. then remove 2 bolts securing generator to mounting bracket.

After releasing generator from mounting bracket remove nuts securing generator leads, and release leads.

Now remove generator from mounting bracket and remove pulley from generator.

    For installing the alternator

Part Two:- Installation is reverse of removal procedure and tighten nuts and bolts to specifications.

  6. Hey Disco girl, when are we going to disco.:lol: Just kidding.

    very nice ID.

About your requirement, knowing Dubai about 10 years your chances are very minimal in renting such specialize car but again there are chances as you need for 2 years commitment.

    Idea 1:

Write a mail and copy to all te following rent a car company, i hope some might assist you as an exception as none them would have this in there fleet. But when you need for 2 good years they might get attracted.

Hertz, Budget rent a car, Dimaonlease, Sixt, fastuae, discount rent a car, thrity, avis, dollar.

    Idea 2:

Write same mail to Al Tayer or Al tayer rent a car division (if it exists). Al tayer is the sole dealer of Land Rover in UAE.

    Idea 3:

Drive any rent a car for 1 month and then buy LR3 on bank loan, and when you leave you can sell it. It's depreciation will cost you MUCH LESS than monthly rental.
