If you have a new Defender, it would only be right to install a new auto gearbox, but it is not a cheap conversion - around AED 30K - so you have to ask yourself whether it is worth it. Don't forget that the new Defender only has a 2.2L diesel and that what power it does have will be significantly reduced. This can be offset by remapping the ECU which will cost more again.
