I always get amazed with car manufacturer thinking that they have developed so many new technologies and still all car manufacturers are ignoring the engine overheating aspect.
I am yet to see a car that is designed with simple sensor logic to shut-off car engine by killing the fuel or air supply as soon as engine temperature rises by more than 10-15%. Are these all manufacturers not doing this intentionally so lot of amateur blows their engine and they make good business from spare parts and repair....? Shame on them.
I just heard from a poor guy in my office who blew his engine this morning, due to lack of coolant as car radiator was leaking and he did not noticed and hence his engine temperature hit the MAX red zone and then died. Now car is not starting at all.

Here are my reasons, seeing these two cars from a distance as I don't own them but know quiet a few ppl who owns them.
- FJ Cruiser is more good looking than X.
- FJC has plenty of modification options than X
- FJC has cheaper maintenance than X.
- FJC has better performance in offroad than X.
- Toyota have better resale than Nissan.

Hi S, I got my Accord gear rebuild by a Honda specialist in Sharjah 5-6 years back. They were good and honest, as far as you agree on complete lumpsum deal and not with if's and but's. Try them.

I had a Nissan for 3 years in the past and only once I faced the slow service, other than that if you are dropping off the car trhat is very instantly they will accept no waiting at all. I am talking about deira branch.

If above doesn't work or you actually need to dig deeper by yourself or with some mechnanic you trust follow the below video for Shift lock Solenoid and faulty wiring resulting in exactly same behavior as you are facing.
Good luck and like it please.

Macan is getting handsome and capable every where. When it's first launched, I wasnt sure will it really go this far. Kudos to Porsche for adding this mid-size baby cayenne.

Car pulling to one side not always means that tires are bad and need change, it is an alignment issue that can happen even with new tires. No service include the tire change unless otherwise required and its always charge separately as its not part of service contract.
Get your wheel alignment check from any emarat eppco fast track or fast lube center or any tire shops and see if it helps in solving your concern in 200-300 dhs than changing the tires usually will cost 1500+

Once had worst experience at Nissan service center that I was waiting for 30 minutes to hand over my car for normal service and all service advisers were busy running here and there, off course not ignoring me.
Came back and wrote strong email to Arabian Automobile and service center manager called me next day to apologies and invite to see him over a coffee and get my car service. He explained very nicely that how he is struggling due to less staff and he already reported that to management and additional staff is coming in few weeks. He offered me some discount to win me over the embarrassing wait and going back once. Every business work differently with human psychology and some win their customer in end and some loose them for life.

And other guys who keep price secret and think they will fetch double the market price or only sell for best offer and force you to view the car to tell you the price. Common guys, if you want to sell it put a fair price + 10% extra and don't waste your and my time.

Prado is better option as per your mentioned requirement, it's not FJC is bad but you will enjoy and cherish driving Prado more than FJC. If you have any friends with both cars, just drive each one of them for a day and then decide. If you dont have anyone or shy to lend a car, go for rent a car and test both, I have done this and then decided with 100% consent of my heart and mind than just listening to people with different mindset, requirement and favoritism.

I so agree with Danny, in last 5 years we have witnessed so many price increase from fuel to food, property to dewa and hospital to school fees that this suggestion might get accepted and will take another toll on expats thin wallet.

My 2 votes are ML350 and RX350, both are awesome vehicle and exactly fits in what you are looking for. Other two lacks in build quality, new tech, functions and little comfort as oppose to my 2 choices.

Any day Rubicon is a good buy considering an added value and options for off-road perspective, but if you are on tight budget then go for Sahara it's not bad either as like everyone says: Jeep Wrangler are built not bought (over time).

This look like a tune up issue, or inadequate firing at different rpm. Worth checking the spark plug condition, HT leads (spark plug wires) health, and coil health to deliver regular spark at low revs.
Second doubt would go on to battery or alternator if it's working fine or not as on low rev alternator might be weak in producing adequate current to maintain the constant spark.

Chevy all the way for the pickup trucks with a great towing or loading capability. For good offroad capability Ford Raptor. Period.

European / Westerners are the preferred choice, I guess for buying cars from as they really take care of car very well as oppose to others (based on my experience).
-
Philippines, European and Indian is my first choice in Dubai in same priority. Second choice is Americans, British, and all south east countries.

That's a very funny and weird situation you are in. First get the car detailing from the guys who remove the car seats and do the shampoo and let it dry in hot sun for a day, In such type of detailing they will also remove the carpet and shampoo and let it sun dry so all of the upholstery will be cleaned and sun bake that should kill the smell. You can get these guys in Al quoz or Aweer area and for 300-400 AED you will get good deal, and make sure don't squeeze them on time as it takes 2-3 days so you plan an alternate car and let them wash with water and soap everything and sun dry it properly to kill all smell and germs.

Brandan, it seems you are know it all types then why you seek help here....? Anyways good luck for your ride.

You should always get a second opinion and rate workshop based on their true knowledge, capability and honesty. Secondly you will always have one or two sour experience out of ten, so one should have some degree of tolerance while dealing with car repairs. It's not that outside garage is bad and dealers are good, but problem is dealers will never take a slightest chance and rather replace complete assembly than repairing/repairing small module, this will make them look like they fix issue in first attempt.

Though you already in the situation I won't crib about anything but advise you to spend money with a pinch of salt. Gaurav advise is good to identify the main engine fan and then decide accordingly. Do let us know when you test next and will advise accordingly.
Why not engine overheating switches off the engine?

I understand your concern, but I am sure car manufacturer can come up with some smart ways to incorporate that by making too noisey and loud beeps, flash light, warning on dash and then timer to kick in for 15-30 seconds before shutting off the engine.
That stupid gauge is so minuscule that many drivers will notice after the damage is done and engine head is fried. With today's tech when car manufacturer aiming for autonomous car intelligence then I am sure this is peanut for that level of science to auto shut-off engine with slight rise in temperature.
I got hit by this once and one of my very close friend who got hit while he left car unattended in meena bazar double parking in June and one of the radiator pipe got burst and engine fried, it costed him over 20,000 dirhams to fix.
Recently two days back (when I made this thread), my office colleague got the similar hit.
