I drove in the desert with prado 2010 but faced no issues with the airbags. I recall in my second drive I nose dived in to a pit damaging the bumper but still the airbags didn't blow up. 

To summarise, I have not done any killer switch thingie. Just deactivated traction control from the standard button inside.

Marshalls can comment on the level of drives I have dond to give you fair idea.

DO YOU HAVE TO DISCONNECT THE AIRBAGS WHEN OFFORADING IN THE DESERT?.. got a killswitch done but the garage only did it for the ABS and traction control and said that disconnecting Airbags would need re configuring everytime. Any suggestions or advice please.

You may also install a 2 inch lift kit just to improve the approach and departure angles. Have you ever driven your Prado off-road or are you planning on mods even before you have taken it out for a ride and feel. Heavy metal bumpers would be a no from my side. They might only look good but are heavy and can really add serious weight to your car, with the power to weight ratio your car will offer you lesser power per kg on your ride. Besides passing metal bumpers on your 4x4 when passing at RTA is a huge problem and you would either have to keep your stock bumper stored somewhere on invest in a new one every time you want to pass the car. As opposed to skid plates which are bolt-on applications and can be removed at any time.

where did you get the bumper done? and cost roughly?

wow thats amazing ...looks so good. but mine is a daily driver as well so needs to be a bit more subtle.
