Today I want to share my experience in tuning my friend's Jeep Gladiator that I asked for help. Actually, the idea to upgrade the SUV came to me when I realized that the stock dodger is great for city use, but off-road it needs more! After some searching and consulting, I discovered that a front power bumper is not only a stylish accessory, but also a functional solution to improve off-road performance. The steel material gives the bumper its strength, and its design protects it from obstacles in the way.

My friend was particularly pleased with the possibility to build a winch into the bumper, and I chose ComeUp 9500-12500, which is perfect for him, as we also put a Warn winch, it is also quite good. The bumper also provides places for LED headlights, which gives the car extra style and improves visibility at night.

Finally, my friend and I were pleasantly surprised that installing the bumper only required bolt-on installation 😃, which simplified the process and didn't require major changes to the standard design. In the end, my friend's Jeep Gladiator was transformed, combining the style of American tuning with functionality for off-road adventures. We also put an chase-rack on the rear body, but unfortunately we forgot to take pictures of it, maybe I will add pictures of it later😑.

What brand of tie rod did you end up selecting and did you consider any other brands?

 

I just ordered from Amazon from taiko parts store, they have all sorts of different things and exterior parts for SUVs and pickups in uae.

As I too am keen to improve the steering performance of my Y61 SWB I am interested to learn whether you upgraded the steering damper as well or just the rod?

You may have seen my past posts on tuning the TLC 300 and Jeep Grand Cherokee. Since I often work on cars, this time I got my hands on the Nissan Patrol Y61 suspension.

One of the key enhancements was fitting this steering tie rod, and I'd like to highlight a few of its major advantages.

Firstly, a significant improvement in control and handling. The adjustable tie rod allows precise tuning of the suspension and steering to match individual driver preferences. It's a fantastic upgrade for enhancing confidence and stability on off-road terrain.

Secondly, the quality of components was impressive. The installation was almost seamless due to accurate sizing and a construction that required no additional adjustments. I particularly liked that when the tie rod ends wear out, only the original tie rod ends OEM D8570-VS42A (left) and D8520-VS42A (right) need to be replaced, saving time and resources.

And of course, the kit itself. All the attachments for the steering damper and components are galvanized and have an additional polymer coating, enhancing durability and protection against corrosion.

I wanted to share with you my project of enhancing my TLC 300. Over time, this vehicle has become an integral part of my lifestyle, and it was essential for me to prepare it for extreme off-road conditions while maintaining comfort and reliability for city drives.

My enhancements included the installation of:

These improvements have made my Land Cruiser even more ready to tackle off-road challenges while preserving its style and comfort. It's crucial for me that my vehicle caters to all my needs, whether it's city commuting or exploring the most remote corners of nature.
