  1. Some times modification may add value to the stock resale value (but not recently in current market satiation) like:

-swapping alloy wheels with original larger size with in the recommended size range from the manufacturer and by the same car maker brand.

-installing original body kit or trim body kit by the same car brandlike M-power for BMW or AMG for Mercedes or ABT, APR for VW and Audi or Wald and Veilside for Japaneses car brands

-interior trims like wood shape and carbon fiber trims

-Upgrades for audio system with original and branded systems with additional system options not over powered or loud systems like GPS, rear view cams, and AUX ports and sync with smart phones which is not standard in basic models.

Don't spend much as you would enjoy it and don't expect to earn it back on resale value.

  2. I had a lot of fun when I was playing Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed ...... 17 years ago!!

I tried to play recently to share the fun with the kids and I found it much more easier and much better graphics and details (too good to be true) but I did not enjoy it!! I don't know the reasons is it me or the game?

But I had a test drive on a modified Toyota P86 and VW Golf R32 and I had the same excitement that I used to feel from the games with extra dosage of Adrenalin (including burn feeling in chest) I guess I lost my interest in competing with other driver or player or PC for the pleasure of sensing speed and handling and quality of engineering!

enjoy playing as much as you can I really miss that Joy!!

  3. I think it's a good idea to match competition like ford F150 and  Silvrado as they lost Dodge Ram individual version for commercial activities and they still have larger V6 and V8 petrol engines that used in Chrysler C300 and Dodge charger away from diesel engines range specially while they lose a market share for Honda and Nissan and mighty Toyota while I'm still waiting and expecting Hyundai and Kia to attack the market in these type of recreational type with lower cost to built and after losing the main player Hummer!

  4. I had the same issue long time ago and finally I checked the valve on the refilling point and it have no leak but I replaced it and had no problem from AC since then.

So next check replace both valves (smellier to tire valves but rubber comes in red to indicate heat resistant) and cost nothing!

    Good Luck

  5. Sorry but I have never seen ore hear about spark plugs for diesel engine (except in some multi fuel engines)

it have basically a various thread size, type & length.

Then it you go for head type single or multi spark

then type of internal conductor material which depends on designed operating heat temperature and designed coil voltage.

other than that it's about registered patents and marketing.

  6. I think that blaming petrol & diesel engines for global warming is a big scam.....

can you compare the results and consciousness for using engines (globally) for 20 years Vs. one nuclear or Hydrogen explosion experiment by any country? have you ever heard about that experiment oxygen burning evaluating?

Moreover go back for history to the beginning of motors industry and you would find out that all petrol engines was designed basically to run on Alcohol (Ethanol) which is simply a renewable energy and available in some parts of the world as a bio-fuel (E65 & E85) and the most common fuel in Latin America and some how We All world wide was miss-leaded to Oil based fuels by oil companies wold wide before 100 years ago and we still following them!

Sorry to disappoint you but truth is always shocking!!

The only thing I can agree with you on in this post is that diferent brands of oil should not be mixed.

What is your reason for saying that synthetic oil will "not survive in that condition"? Fully synthetic oil is standard factory fill on many cars in some of the coldest countries on the planet.

Moreover, saying that the OP should change to mineral oil because synthetic oil "vaporises" in some conditions is bad advice, since oil cannot "vaporise". It can only be burned if the engine is worn.

Just consider engine condition and note that Honda is well known with low compression ratio for longer engine life!!

Is there any chance the wrong grade of oil has been used and is messing with the chain tensioner?

Sorry boys who love adnoc or enoc motor oil, they are cheap substitute to OEM motor oil. Don't fill people cars with non branded and non recommended motor oil. It's misleading and dangerous.

If you support them, then ask them if any one car manufacturer recommended their formula is safe for their cars.....?

That is one of the reason why big brands like castrol, liqui moly, shell, mobil1 etc print on every bottle recommended by Porsche, BMW, VW, Etc, because their blend and formula is certified and recommended by known car manufacturers.

Just wanted to add that ADNOC pearl oil (discontinued and replaced by Voyger Silver) was Certified by Mercedes, BMW & VW but certification renewal cost money every year which reflect price...(believe it or not!!)

  9. the recommended grade is 0W-30 for 5000 Km however it's for cold weather countries so if you like you may switch to 10W-40 (and you may use it for 5000 as Honda recommended) which available as synthetic and sim-synthetic and mineral which would reflect on price and driven distance to change oil, however engine condition may guide you to use sim-synthetic or mineral if you have some oil vaporizing as fully synthetic will not survive in that condition!

The other issue be sure to check engine oil dipstick and make sure that oil level on middle of the mark (not full or empty) after long standing still (over night) without starting engine some times overfilling would effect engine performance badly and impact on fuel consumption as side effect and be sure to replace filter every time to avoid mixing different brands of oil.

  10. Hi Danny

I noticed that in small Japaneses and Korean cars that each and every tiny electrical load affects the engine ideal speed while AC not running starting from dim lights to single power window opening or closing even courtesy light for door opening while in larger size with larger battery 70 AMPS and up you can't feel that so I guess that larger batteries will not consume like small batteries.

simply extra electrical load would make generator heavier and would slow down ideal speed so engine ECU calibrate throttle angle and ignition and injectors to elevate engine speed to the factory specs RPM. while in larger battery case the generators just compensate the battery drained AMPS so it's not a permanent load.

DRL looks nice if it is carefully designed enjoy it!

  11. Hi Shams

I had a 2010 308 1.6 turbo for 1 week and it was fast and smooth but it was factory fitted!

modification is not allowed for daily use road car so please note that if you go for aftermarket modification RTA may not permit renewing the car registration which even harder than losing the warranty as you spent money and time and to continue driving you have to remove it all to stock condition!

so Technician proposal is more safe and applicable and the stock 308 1.6 turbo is about 160 Hp and you can find the same engine in Mini turbo but the variation on the turbo waste gate and inter-cooler brackets.

    Good luck

  12. Hi

V6 engines comes with 2 sensor (1 sensor for each bank so you have bank1 & bank2) and mostly he replaced the good one not the bad one in addition to the 3rd sensor on/after the catalytic converter so you have to double check the code (which bank 1 or 2) and you have to clear the code after installation and you need to check the catalytic converter as it may be blocked and holding emissions so the variation of reading for the 3 sensors from standard measures may lead to that DTC.

    Good Luck!

  13. Hi

you have a timing adjustment problem!

you need to remove valve cover and timing cover and check timing and chain glider and gliders pistons and cam gears and make sure to go for a professional and to use Mazda timing special tool and to use original part number oil filter (comes with check valve to keep timing titty even with engine not running for days) and replace spark plugs and oil with specified grade for Mazda turbo charged engines.

avoid driving the car as much as you can till you repair it or you may brake that engine!

    Good Luck

  14. Hi Haroon

If your car still under warranty go to the dealer and get your benefits.... if not you may consider a regular major service to your car with the specified engine oil grade (mostly Castrol don't go for unknown brands without prior experience) and spark plugs and filters (Oil & Air) and then you can evaluate the oil burning issue if you do the service by Audi professional workshop they'll see the indication on oil ventilation system and turbo housing for oil burning and guide you.

the other thing that the same engine with the same code is used on VW Golf R & VW Tigwan so don't worry about parts all available (original & aftermarket and even used parts)

You'll be doing the service anyway and remember that dealers push the cars to the limits to keep it running smooth for customers during test drive while everyday driving will not push RPM above 3500 to 4000 RPM which may burn 1 liter for every 3000 Km.

Good Luck and enjoy your new ride!

  15. Dear All

in addition to the above you may get DTC from dashboard hidden menu it varies for car maker but you can still get it in most of modern cars like (ford, volvo & Jaguar/ Jeep & Chrysler and Dodge) from mileage reset switch and VW & Audi + Seat & Skoda from AC display (limited to climatronic editions (if you have 3 dial analog type no chance!) Renault & Peugeot & Opel from center display and dashboard if you have one!

if you are trying in a Japanese sorry it want work you need a scanner

Mercedes & BMW is very limited on hidden menu due to dual can system! so you still need a scanner!

and advanced one would make your job easier as it would give a good description so you may have a sensor failure but advanced scanner would tell you is it the sensor or sensor wiring or other sensor reading conflict as impossible reading.

  16. Moreover the human mistakes can be a dangerous as 7 speed DSG (AQ250) have seven type of internal TCM codes (codes vary upon engine 1.0T, 1.2T, 1.4T 1.4T+SC, 1.6, 1.8T)which means during software update if the service engineer installed other software the car will continue moving and driving but eventually the mechatroincs will fail and burn out due to overheating because of wrong version of software update that run higher voltage on circuits.

it even happened with me on my car when Ali&Sons engineer installed wrong version and lead to gearbox mechatronics failure in 10 days.

  17. Hi

I used to repair my car by myself and to educate myself about how to do the job and how to diagnose the problem but in Dubai you have different culture and laws and regulations so you can do any repairs you like as long as you do it in your home private parking but if you do it on the road or in a paid parking it's a violation and you may get fined and the other issue is about people reaction (some times I do change my car spark plugs or replacing brake pads or replacing fuses and lights on the building parking which is reserved for me so I find a totally strangers (2 or 3 persons) and mostly not living on the same building standing and watching me doing the job and discussing with each other in their own language about what I'm doing without even saying :Hello or Hi" which makes anyone uncomfortable.

If you plan to start that business you may consider me as a potential customer even for car washing and detailing as I spent around 1 hour detailing my car by myself after being washed on the station.

  18. Hi Adil

The EURO standard was integrated to include braking distance and maintenance and technical resources as mentioned in the link that you shared above.

applying that standard would stop several models which considered as the most selling models in GCC countries and stop several engines from sales in brand new cars as emissions over limit which would revise the selling prices and put it out of competition.

For example Honda Cvic since 2007 is selling 1.8 L which you cant find it in Europe due to emission Vs category! while the same engine is sold in Honda CRV in Europe, other brands & models like Hyundai & Kia is selling other engines and or developed virgins that fits EURO standard.

while European brands which complies with EURO standard are offering high prices except some models produced in Korea & India and still unable to compete with Asian brands producing in the same countries.

Simply GCC market to car maker like paradise and they still able to milk it as it's considered as a rich market!

  19. Hi

I agree with Ayman ....... Its a crossover type do you think any other crossover like toyota Rav4, Honda CRV, Nissan Qushqai & Xtrail, Mazda CX5, Mitsubishi outlander, Ford Escape, Chevrolet Captiva, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, BMW X1, Mercedes GLA & GLK , Audi Q1&Q3, Skoda Yeti or vw tiguan or Land Rover new Discovery & Evoque  would offer better performance with stock wheels & tires and suspension ?

I'm sure they would not and may scream louder than the video!

Even mighty Porsche cayenne, BMW X3&X5&X6, Audi Q7, Rang Rover Vogue & sport and Mercedes M & ML and all European would not offer toyota land cruiser/Prado/FJ Cruiser and Nissan Patrol/ Xterra performance on sand dune (Except Mercedes G class as it's basically a military vehicle not a commercial passenger car as it's panned from sale in most of European countries for safety reasons)

The only 3 cars would give you a better performance is Suzuki Jimny, Daihatsu terios with smaller engines 1.3L & 1.5L respectively and Subaru Forester with 2.0L-2.5L engine since they was built basically as a rear wheel drive and all time all wheel drive (longitude engines) with short wheel base (tiny for Suzuki) and over all light weight.

The Duster is a very challenging package including (space, specs, running cost & price)
