  1. Review If you like performance but want a vehicle with a bit more substance than your standard sports car, perhaps the 2010 BMW M5 might just be what you’re after. According to road tests, auto reviews and test drives, the BMW M5 offers a great combination of speed and styling. It gets 11 miles per gallon in the city and 17 miles per gallon on the highway. The M5 is offered in just one trim package, a four-door sport sedan. Improvements from 2009 M5 If you were hoping for significant improvements from the 2009 M5, think again. Just about the only change is an updated version of BMW’s often criticized iDrive technology system. Performance Anyone in the market for an M5 obviously wants performance and speed, and for the most part the M5 doesn’t disappoint. Consider it a more practical version of BMW’s smaller and slightly speedier M3, which means you’ll get 500 horsepower and a V-10. Yeah, a V10. Toss in acceleration from 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds, and you’ve got a serious vehicle on your hands. So it’s got plenty of power, but some experts say the M5 doesn’t handle quite as well on city streets as it might on the track. So don’t think that you’ll get the full capability of the V-10 and the 500 horsepower while driving down Main Street. Exterior Features Based off BMW’s popular 5-Series line of vehicles, the M5 is a sizeable sports sedan. That means you’ll have an ample trunk as well as classy exterior styling. Interior Features Roomy and comfortable, the M5 features ample space for passengers both in the front and back seating areas. You’ll enjoy an updated version of the multimedia system that’s equipped for most BMWs, which means a shorter and less confusing learning curve when you first take the wheel. Safety and Specs Car safety remains a priority for BMW, and the M5 is no different. Delivered with Dynamic Stability Control, anti-lock brakes, brake assist and a host of other features, the M5 ensures that its performance won’t make the car any less safe when driven correctly. Upgrade Options Like all BMWs, you’ll be given a selection of upgrade options that range from premium leather seating to premium sound and heating steering wheels. BMW often makes many of its upgrades a la carte options, so you’ll be able to select the features you want. SOURCE: http://www.automobile.com/2010-bmw-m5-review.html
  2. Review One of the finest performance vehicles around, the 2010 BMW M3 is the ideal combination of substance and style. Designed with the essence of a 3-Series sedan, but the power of a German-engineered sports car, the M3 strikes a great balance according to many different auto reviews. Depending on the model you select, the car pricing of the M3 can vary from the low $50,000s to an MSRP of $66,500 for the M3 convertible. This overview shows why the M3 remains a favorite for any new/used car guide. Improvements from the 2009 BMW M3 There aren’t too many changes for this model year, but BMW has made high-definition radio a standard feature for 2010. Also, buyers may select optional automatic high beams. Performance The M3 is among the most favorite of its class in the auto industry. Featuring a 414-horsepower V8 engine, it’s got plenty of power as well as an astounding amount of stability. The standard transmission is a six-speed manual, but you can select an “M double-clutch” transmission as optional. If you have the need for speed, road test information shows that the M3 can go from 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds (that’s the coupe). According to BMW data, the M3 tops out at a speed of 155 mph. By no surprise, expect that to be reflected in your car insurance costs. You can see these costs firsthand by getting free car insurance quotes. Now, it might not seem right to discuss fuel economy after talking about all that power (295 pound-feet of torque, after all), but the M3 gets 14 miles per gallon in the city, and 20 miles per gallon on the highway. Exterior Features Buyers can choose from a coupe, sedan or convertible (hardtop style). Designed off the popular styling of the 3-Series vehicles, the M3 takes that refined style and makes it look fabulously stealth on the road. Any photos of the M3 explain why. Interior Features Inside the M3 features many of the same conveniences as you’d expect: premium seating surfaces, and electronic gadgets galore. But many reviewers complain that BMW’s electronic interface is difficult to master, and can take time to get comfortable with. Safety and Specs With so much performance capability, it’s no surprise that the M3 is loaded with the car safety features you’d expect as well. Dynamic stability control, anti-lock brakes and a “dynamic brake control” system keep performance and stability paramount. Some auto reviews comment that the braking on the 2010 M3 is highly impressive, given its penchant for speed. Upgrade Options Like most 3-Series vehicles, you’ll have a choice of many different packages and multimedia options. Among the newest options is automatic high beams. 3. BMW’s flagship, the 7 Series, is a luxury car that has been in production in various generations since 1977. The current model is the fifth generation and was launched in 2009. It competes with the likes of Mercedes-Benz’s S-Class, Audi’s A8 and Jaguar’s XJ for the upmarket car buyer’s attention. The 7 Series offers plenty of everything one would expect from an automobile in this segment, including performance, comfort, reliability and prestige. For the 2010 model year the range has been expanded with the addition of the extra-long-wheelbase 760Li featuring a 536bhp, 6.0-litre V12 engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. xDrive all-wheel drive technology has been made available on the 750 which is powered by a 402bhp, 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. The first-class interior of the 7 Series is a very comfortable place to be and is known to cocoon passengers in its plush setting. There is generous legroom for front and back seat occupants, even more so in the long wheel base versions (Li). 16-way power-adjustable front seats, which are heated and ventilated, can be ordered with an optional massage function. Back seat occupants have it good too as they get reclining seats, footrests, armrests, two 7-inch screens with headphones, climate control and their own iDrive controller with which they can control an array of comfort features. The 7 Series is also loaded with performance and safety equipment including BMW’s new Integral Active Steering, which now comes with speed-sensitive rear-wheel steering as standard on the 760 and optional on the 750. Some of the other features include steering-linked headlights, blind-spot alert, lane departure warning, head-up display, side and rear view cameras and a night-vision system. 4. The BMW 6 Series is a premium grand tourer, launched back in 2004. Since then it has been through a few facelifts and engine upgrades with the most major ones introduced in the 2008 model. However, what was once considered an avant-garde design has begun to age and BMW is working at introducing the next-generation 6 Series in 2011. The current 6 Series still manages to grab plenty of attention with its aggressive looks and predatory stance. It comes in two shapes; coupe and convertible, both with two-doors and 2+2 seating. The range consists of the 630i and 650i both of which are rear-wheel drive. While an inline six-cylinder 3.0-litre engine powers the 630i, the 650i enjoys a 4.8-litre V8 with 360bhp on tap. Based on the 5 Series sedan’s chassis, the 6 Series is known to be a driver’s car with good dynamics aided by its low ride height, favourable weight balance and a taut suspension. For the performance minded, the M6 coupe and convertible both feature a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V10 engine, which belts out 500bhp. Standard equipment on the 650i coupe includes 18-inch alloy wheels, hill holder (manual transmission), adaptive xenon headlights, auto wipers, parking sensors, a panoramic sunroof, power front seats with driver memory, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, iDrive interface with navigation, Bluetooth and an eight-speaker stereo. The convertible boasts of powered soft-top and sun-reflective leather upholstery, which helps keep the interior cool when the top is down. Despite the kit the interiors seem dated and stark when compared with BMW’s more modern cars. The 6 Series however does have inherent strengths like its roomy interiors and relatively spacious boot, which make it a true grand tourer. SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2010-bmw-6-series/
  5. The sixth generation BMW 5 Series is due in the Middle East very soon. The new 5 Series model range comprises of the 2011 sedan and the 2010 Gran Turismo (GT), which was launched in the region in February 2010. The new executive sedan’s design is a clean break from the controversial looks of the Chris Bangle designed predecessor. It is surprisingly low-key and has elements that hint at the fourth generation car such as the clean bodylines, rear profile and head lamps. However, unlike the polarising design of the last generation 5 Series, the new car is more neutral and won’t evoke many strong emotions. The sedan has also grown marginally in size. The new car features a 3.0-litre turbocharged, inline six-cylinder engine with 300bhp in the 535i and a brawny twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 with 400bhp in the 550i. The same engines do duty in the 535i GT and the 550i GT. While the sedan is available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a new eight-speed automatic transmission, the GT comes only with the automatic. At the time of writing this BMW had not introduced the xDrive all-wheel drive system in any of the new 5 Series variants but had plans to do so later in 2010. BMW claims that the new 550i can accelerate from 0-100kph in about five seconds. The new 5 Series features an upgraded fourth generation iDrive entertainment/ navigation system, which BMW claims is more refined and user friendly than previous iterations. Novel features include a head-up display and an advanced Parking Assistant, which automatically steers the car into a parking slot. The 5 Series scored the maximum five stars for safety in the Euro NCAP crash tests in 2010 and was the first BMW to score a perfect 100 percent. SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2010-bmw-5-series/
  6. The 3 Series is one of BMW’s best selling cars worldwide and is currently in its fifth generation. Having been in the market since 1975, the 3 Series has earned a reputation for being a performance-oriented car and is popular with relatively younger buyers. The 3 Series offers a good blend between performance, comfort, prestige and reliability. It competes head-to-head with German rivals; Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The current model, launched in 2006, has been ageing well thanks to repeated face-lifts but is due for a replacement by the next generation 3 Series, which will debut as the 2012 model. Spanning a range of body styles including sedan, coupe and convertible, the 3 Series is a versatile car catering to diverse needs of buyers from the region. Budget oriented buyers can opt for the base 320i sedan which starts at 150,000AED while performance oriented customers can get their hands on the M3 which costs upwards of 335,000AED but delivers sports car-like performance. The 3 Series coupe and convertible have been spruced up for the 2010 model year. The 335i Coupe and Convertible are now powered by BMW’s latest turbocharged straight six-cylinder engine. The exterior has also been refreshed and includes a bigger grille, revised bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, redesigned taillights, rear-view mirrors, sill covers and new paint options. New pull-type shift paddles (right one to shift up and left one to shift down) for the automatic transmission replace the confusing pull/push ones of the earlier model. The M3 is now available both in Coupe and Convertible body styles with the option of manual or automatic transmission in the latter. The tuned Alpina B3 Coupe is also available at 365,000AED but only from select BMW dealerships. SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2010-bmw-3-series/
  7. The 1 Series is the most affordable car in BMW range and was designed to attract young buyers to the premium brand. While the 1 Series family spawns a range of body styles internationally including a three-door and five-door hatchback, in the UAE only the two-door coupe and convertible cars are available. Introduced in 2004, the compact 1 Series shares a lot of components with the 3 Series including the chassis, rear-wheel drive configuration, a 50:50 weight balance and powertrain options. Despite the car’s controversial looks and compact proportions the 1 Series feels like a proper BMW inside out and like all BMWs was designed with performance in mind. The top-end 2010 135i Coupe and convertible are powered by a straight-six, twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre engine with 302bhp, which lends them a performance edge. BMW boasts of a 0 to 100kph acceleration in less than five seconds and a top speed of 250kph for the 135i Coupe. The 1 Series is also said to be frugal when it comes to fuel consumption, primarily because of its light weight. The interior is typically BMW, well laid out and built with quality materials. Owing to the compact size the 1 Series has a cramped backseat and is best used by two adults with a couple of children at the back at best. The coupe has 370 litres of boot space while the convertible’s folding fabric roof eats into its luggage space leaving only 240 litres. The base 120i convertible costs 135,000AED while the 135i convertible is the most expensive model in the 1 Series range and will set buyers back 200,000AED.
