  1. I suggest you Change the car and try it if it works if yes keep the new car LOL!!!

    Sounds good :D

I think its not for GM only

in fact all the cars sold in US from 94 onwards should have OBD2 as a standard

I have read that V8 3.9 99 00 Disco 2 's support OBD. its limited but still supports you can see the temp of engine coolant, gearbox and some other info from ECU and reset some basic things

but I do not have definitive answer for Disco 1

lets try on other cars and see what happens

  2. desert sand is quite hard on air filter and everything behind

I use CRC MAf cleaner from ACE , disconnect MAF and clean them with the spray . I also clean air filter box, connections, MAf to throttle boyn pipe.

Its also a good ptacrice to clean up the throttle body with a carb cleaner ( everything is disconnected so its a easy 10 min job )

if you want to be sure about the maf just disconnect the MAF plug and disconnect bataery to reset ECU and see what happens

  3. VCO, when you're checking them let me know if you come across a disco 2 (new head light model) i need that stupid plastic sheild that goes under the front windshield and becomes brittle and breaks in the sun.

    I forgot to mention

I went to Daid last week

there was 1 big scrap yard and they had 3 disco1 1 old disco 2 (totally destroyed) and a few old Ranges

so haven't seen what you are looking for

I bought a few broken interior plastics (Ac control unit , dials and a few others) from a cabrio Disco 1

by the way if any need original rims that cabrio had very clean rims+bolts on it

  4. Hey Gas, sorry, the writeup is coming in a bit! See some pics here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 854&type=3

You surely missed that one! Was great fun and success! And the Defender just needs a recovery point in the back....to tow others out ;)

    pls guys :(

no pictures , no posts on this topic

after 3 months, 7000 kms my Disco disappointed me for the big time

8 in the morning everything is packed and ready but ooops no Drive only reverse in gearbox :(

probably a stuck valve or governor lets see how much $ is blocking the transmission

Ps. great pictures , I'm happy that you all had a great time

hope we can do it again

  5. just wondering

always reading comments about original air intake and exhaust is being too restrictive

some people recommending straight 2.5" pipe and single muffler

mine has a huge muffler in the middle and a small one at the end

I'm thinking about cheking exhaust in general so what do you use / recommend ?

    Thanks

    Volkan

  6. Hi VCO, just curious to know how you measured the volt on MAF?

I have Range Rover and multi meter tool, could you please explain how do i measure the voltage as i never really fiddle with electronics. Thanks.

    it's quite easy

    start the engine and wait till its warm then while idling take the multimeter and measure the voltage from the MAF socket;

you have to measure betwwen red & black (ground) to blue&red

for disco ref values are ~1.5 v for non cat model and 1.8 with cat

  7. I just realized that normal jack does not mean anything for a lifted car  ( I know I know learning new things every day ;) )

Which one is more suitable for general recovery situations and especially for stuck in sand ?

Yellowhat has an aitjack with 3 ton raiting for 280 AED and I've seen hilift available @ICON Garage for ~400 AED

I've seen airjack once in action, my friend wanted to use it to change the tyre and it blew up in 15 sec

I do not know the brand but since then Im looking those quite suspicious

so what do you use ?
