  1. Hi @Ehunaitiwelcome to Carnity and thanks for registering to the drive, but as I explained to Kenneth who will also be taking his Absolute Newbie drive on Friday: « According to Carnity policy, as stated in the WhatsApp group where drives are notified, we ask each member to only sign up for one drive each weekend, and to request a place in the waiting list for any second drive he wishes to attend on the same weekend. This is to allow all members to have a shot at at least one drive per weekend. This is why I am temporarily removing you from this drive, and place you in its Waiting List ». Thanks for your understanding.
  2. Hi @Lakshmi Narasimhan, that’s not how it works sorry. Please sign out of one of the two drives, put your name on WL as 2nd drive, and then, if tomorrow evening there is still a spot in the drive you will be added.
  3. Also @Lakshmi Narasimhan, I see that you have RSVPed for this drive and also for another one this weekend. Please choose any 1 drive for now and you can put your name on the waitlist for a second drive. This would give other drivers a chance to rsvp for atleast 1 drive over the weekend. On Wednesday, if there are still spots available after everyone has got at least 1 drive, you can be added to the convoy for a second drive.
  4. @Kenneth Bollhardt most welcome to Carnity and thanks for registering to the drive. I have noticed that you will be taking your Absolute Newbie drive on Friday, so this will be your second drive of the weekend. According to Carnity policy, as stated in the WhatsApp group where drives are notified, we ask each member to only sign up for one drive each weekend, and to request a place in the waiting list for any second drive he wishes to attend on the same weekend. This is to allow all members to have a shot at at least one drive per weekend. This is why I am temporarily removing you from this drive, and place you in its Waiting List, where you will be #2, just after @Matt.T. Thanks a lot for understanding, and hope to see you Saturday.

  9. It looks like Umm al-Oush. Or is it Al-Wagan or Al-Qoaa? Regarding the “level” that you’re asking about, it depends on what you consider: if it’s convoy discipline and basic safety rules, then I would say pre-absolute newbie. I wouldn’t advise anyone to drive in a convoy like this one, unless he wants to make body parts sellers rich. Technical skills? The crisscrossing is something we all learn at fewbie+/IM level - but definitely in a safer manner. At one point you can see the LC doing a pretty messy one and dangerously fighting gravity. Now, considering the pace, it’s always difficult to say based on a video but it doesn’t seem very fast. The height of these star dunes always make it more impressive than what it is in reality. I don’t know what other marshals and crews think?

  11. @Thomas Fumarola welcome to Carnity off-road club. As a first timer with us, regardless of your experience (if any), you have to join an Absolute Newbie drive before joining at Newbie level. Here you go:
  12. @Kalahari thank you. It’s been a lot of fun and adrenaline, indeed, thanks to you and @Christian Andras and @Jorge Stepniak Felippe. When, as a drive leader, you see that your convoy is not left 500m behind and that you almost never hear “refusal!”, you know that you can engage your 3rd gear 😉 I agree, it was extreme, but I wouldn’t qualify it as “insane” as we never crossed the red line regarding safety... at least I hope so!
