great to hear, and I am glad that my eyes are still ok as I did not see transmission fluid on the stick as we only had half a cup full, good lesson not to push a bad situation, as if we had kept trying we could have done damage to the planetaries etc.. Glad it all worked out for you and you are getting it fixed quickly, look forward to seeing you in the sand again very soon .

Daily car or second car?
Davie Smooth_Operator replied to Josh S's topic in Offroad General Discussion
Could not agree more with Mark B and others with their comments, I love my Rubicon although it is softer than I would have liked or maybe its that I am harder on it than I should be probably the latter given some of the repairs it has had. my wife AKA (Google maps) also loves it and has driven it in the desert, she actually surprised me, not sure if this is because i was giving instructions or that the car itself gave her the confidence, again probably the latter The Mods are extensive and expensive as well as addictive and if not done right can cost you twice (personal experience) would love to do it myself but do not have the time and the tools here in Dubai. so if you cannot do it yourself ask around as there are good and very bad out there when it comes to modifying your pride and joy. It is my daily driver and one and only off-road vehicle, so I am not qualified to compare it to other makes and models. Fair to say though I am happy with it all the way round, comfort, interior, boom box, ride on and off road (once you get it set up to how you like it and your driving style), visibility, etc. really cannot complain.... -

@Hisham Masaad thanks for a superb drive today morning, great way to spend a Sunday morning with such like minded people and in such great company. Superb second lead from @Theo09 listening and responding well to Hishams instructions making slight alterations to the route to keep the convoy flowing well. The middle order team drove fantastically well allowing the convoy to flow seamlessly with only a couple of refusals and no real stucks to talk about it, great job guys @Issam Atra @Vishnu Ramankutty @Haneef Thayyil @DTG @Arun Menon @Pavel Pashkovskiy @Amir Amiri our sweep for the day @Arda Yagcioglu did an amazing job, very informative which allowed us to keep the convoy on track and moving forward. Last minute issue with @Arun Menon Xterra which invoked great team work from @Hisham Masaad and @Pavel Pashkovskiy to reconnect the trans hose that had come off allowing the fluid to escape. We topped her up with the little trans fluid that we had amongst us, but to no avail. so then it was all literally all hands on deck (car) to pull, push and shove the xterra out of the soft and onto the hard, we then had a short tow onward to the exit and homeward bound, the teamwork is what makes carnity special and never ceases to amaze me, well done to all and thank you to all for a job well done. @Arun Menon please let us know how you get on with our car once you have the diagnosis etc. See you all in the sand again very soon

From the bottom it looked ok @M.Seidam But from the top side front left wheel was quite a ways up in the air. As you have said in previous posts and as we have learnt on our journey with Carnity, always check all angles and all sides of the car before attempting what might look like a straight forward recovery. It may turn out to be anything but straight forward. Always best to be on the safe side of any situation. in this case the anchor did its job, it also acted as a pivot to allow the rear to head towards gravity and a safer angle for the rest of the self recovery. thanks to @Dodi Syahdar for the assistance with this recovery.

Dear Desert Adventurers, well we said it would be an adventure and it did not disappoint, we had some tricky technical areas, coupled with vegetation that made the going tougher than I would have like at the start but you all managed it extremely well. the second half of the drive saw us flowing through so longer-range dunes. we had very few refusals and only one stuck where we did have to get the shovels out and a couple of winches and a rope, this was at a tricky angle but you guys were amazing and assisted me to get it resolved quickly and effortlessly so well done and thank you. Fantastic S/L from @Joseph Raju you did everything right hanging back enough to give yourself time to react to my instructions well done. @Sunil Mathew brilliant as always at sweep you did amazingly well keeping the convoy together and me informed. @Pierre de Maigret and @Bjoern you guys as did the other team members drove exceptionally well in as we described above so tricky terrain so well done to you all. @Paolo Pellegrini @Islam Soliman sorry we lost you guys so early, but it was hot hot hot, hope you get on top of you heating issues and we see you in the sand again very soon.
