  1. @Aser @Beide Worku crawling down one of the tallest drops we had tackled: @Andrew John Melvill, really scenic: @Beide Worku's rig - majestic: Getting there to reach that one last waypoint @Asif Hussain @Aser made it, I decided to let that one go: @Andrew John Melvill And liftoff: @MUSTAFA hussain was somehow hiding from me, but I managed to catch a few shots:
  2. Big thanks to @Asif Hussain for an unforgettable drive! From adrenaline-pumping action to a high-speed finish, this event had it all. Stay tuned—once I break free from the daily grind, I’ll drop some epic shots that perfectly capture the day’s adventure!
  3. if you look at the map, these "Abu dhabi" drives are actually closer to Dubai than to Abu Dhabi, as it is usually Sweihan, Al Ain farms area, Faqa etc. And these are the best areas to learn (unless you like churn and cross-tracked badayer areas that are usually packed with turists).
  4. That is a start. Thanks @Frederic. Now I need to figure out how to make a "party" app too. Thanks!
  5. ok, so let's simplify: can we export coordinates from google map pinpoint into Gaia? EDIT: Creating a dumb ios app which would allow me to import data from Google maps and then just keep showing me direction and track statistics should be relatively easy to make. But I can't understand why wouldn't it exist already?
  6. I know it's a simple enough question, but I have been struggling with this for the past months and I would like to understand how do you guys do it? Scenario: somebody shares their location over whatsapp. Whether live or point in time - you end up being able to open Google Maps, Yango, Waze or Apple Maps (or whatever you have) and mark it there. But then what? The point keeps changing and it is no longer being reflected as you already changed the app and marked your static destination. And the route is based on something that may or may not exist (I need a direction, not a "route"). Google can't navigate if roads are not there, so the only way to see the approximate location is to keep the phone in one hand in the "pre" navigation stage, making sure to tap the screen so it does not go dark... Other navi apps are equally inconvenient, but they also don't show you the direction where you point your phone at - so you only see two dots marked on the screen and need to figure out which way the dot is moving. Gaia does this offroad directions pretty well by showing you how far you are off the straight line leading you to the marked point, but only against points that I mark in advance. I haven't figured out a way to "share" location directly into Gaia (at least not on iPhone). Last week I was trying to chase a group of friends in the desert, and the closest I was able to do it with was by asking them to share location using Google account (not via whatsapp, but directly from within google maps on their phones), so it shows directly on my google maps. Looks awesome. Little like a mini map in GTA 5. But it's not ideal. It allowed me to see the moving point(s) (with some delay of course), but again - only until the screen on my phone went dark (I could not tap "direction", because then I would loose the context and Google would force some arbitrary road 20km away on the other side of the map area). It's a huge struggle to keep the phone "live" tapping it with your right hand thumb, while joggling gears and trying to steer with the other hand - cumbersome to say the least. I was desperate enough to find that damn timeout setting on my phone to make sure it stays always on, but my corp security kicked in anyways, and got it locked after a minute anyways. There must be a better way. How do gurs do it?
  7. @Stuart G all depends on the type of flag pole you get. If you get these thin red ones from Dragon Mart then roof rack mount should be fine. But if you are planning to get one of these heavy duty AOR ones, that stuff won't hold on your aluminum roof rack and will quickly become loose. Hence the steel bar attached to spare wheel nuts is much MUCH more sturdy (and most shops have it ready as it seems to be the most common setup for Pajeros). Also, installing it on the roof is inconvenient to say the least: you need to step up, and then you have only one hand to unlock it (assuming you hold on to something with your other hand while leaning off the open door).
  8. +1 on quality of ViAir. Rock solid. Seems to be the right price performance, where you don't want to go for dragon mart stuff, but you're not ready yet to drop 2k AED on a n ARB dual piston. It got me some unexpected few burns though before I learnt what not to touch, as it gets hot as hell around the radiator. And this stock hose is just pita to use: quick release lock must be spotless to engage (and it never is) and the 90-degree valve connector is horrible to lock on the wheel's stems, but luckily I don't need to use it now. My only complain is that I procured 300P model, which - for Pajero's 28" wheels was OK (under 10 mins all 4), but on my current setup it takes around 15 minutes to fill up all four wheels. I built it in, so with quad hose setup it's not really a problem - just fire it up and proceed with socializing with the group (or make a coffee this time) until it's done.
  9. as long as you don't floor it in front of cops, they have no reason to pull you over... simple btw. you mentioned something interesting about compressor -> sent you DM on insta.
  10. just make sure you don't go to Sharjah/Ajman. They don't really care - if you are loud and obnoxious, you will get an impound, no matter how many certificates you will have. And if the car is not stock, you will be fined after impound. With little room for any discussion.
  11. some pics from yesterday drive: @Mahmoud Taha @Looper: @Cristian And @Mahesh_ in this fantastic scenery: .
