Mabrook for new Landies, let the professional take care and leave it to their best knowledge. I am sure they will judge what needs to be changed or repair as per present condition which is irrespective of the km or age.
Definitely getting 4.6 is much better option with that price tag of 5k for fixing head gasket.
Used 4.6 P38 would cost between 3k - 4k and for older engine, P38 with banana manifold could cost 6k, but it perform much better too.
Remember change of engine would also require slight - moderate change in fuel and intake system.
There is no air leak, as mechanic tested while changing the bag.
Why it dances on N only on redlight / parking, why not in P. If leak then overnight it shud sit on any side or completely, but it stays up even for week with same height.
Any Range expert on board?
My Range start dancing on EAS very mildly from nose on red light and lift up after 3-4 secs. On drive its fine, changed the front bags but still dance continues.......!
If radiator is old and rusty, its better time to change to new radiator. First leak or starting of leak (weeping style) is an indication of aging radiator.
It cost around 500 -600 dhs from Gulf star in sharjah who sells original fit radiator from Dolphin. That may be good to go for next 4-5 years, as its not same like original quality that last for 10 years. But quarter price is good for old vehicle owners. I got mine for 2002 RR for 550 for radiator and 100 for thermostat.
check the Axel and breaks if even they are doing good then something was broken when installing the tiers.
go to a different mechanic to get it checked.
Mechanic is partially right in order to get you maximum even comfort if you change all four.
But money spend vs comfort gain isnt quite much to change other tree too. Change will be very negligible as a new shocks and old used shocks.
Better get change one and see any discomfort than change one more in front and see if it helps, if not change rear both too.
Atleast with this you will be sure that you are spending because its needed.
Of course he is right, if head gasket is cracked or leaking car overheat and major cause of crack in head gasket is overheating only.
Your car must have been tossed on high overheating temperature resulting the head gasket to crack.
In gear box there is Kick-down cable responsible for gear change. More than likely your cable s stuck or broken completely holding you to shift the gear.
