Thanks Hui, many have asked us the same and we might repeat one soon. Min 3 year age is recommended to be strapped in baby sit for long hours during regular off-road drives. This WWD being an hour drive so its fine for any age group as far as they are securely fastened in their age-specific baby seats.

Walkie Talkie Static and Interference
Gaurav replied to Frederic's topic in Off-Road Club's Discussions
Our resident radio guru is flying atm, let's wait to see what he adds. In the meantime, I got a once longer, capable, flashy, antenna for Motorola MT777 but it didn't do any magic. Installing the external antenna on a car comes with a hassle that it also needs to plug in a hand-held device all the time. The only thing I can think of with my limited radio knowledge, its the wattage of the device that defines the capability of dispersing long-range broadcast. So 10 Watt Kangda will be better than 5 Watt Motorola or Baofeng. The second reason is the dune formation, if you are in low-lying dunes, coverage will be crisp, but if you are in tall dunes coverage will be very limited. -
Nope that was a different one within Qudra lakes area.

Perfect example to keep Ilya away and safe.....!

Let me share the actual concern for disabling the "side" airbag, while off-roading (of course at the higher level) when you criss-cross dune at a sharp angle and high-speed chances are your side airbag may deploy. This we have seen in many US model 4x4 like Ford Explorer, Expedition, Jeep Cherokee, etc. The science or logic behind the side airbag deployment is that they factor the body roll and when computer sense 45 degrees roll on one side of dune (before crisscrossing)+ 45 degrees on another side (after crisscrossing) = 90 degrees = means the vehicle is either rolled over or have a flip and side curtain airbag will deploy. In one of the cases, I rem Jeep Cherokee covered that in warranty as to its flawed move by vehicle, so it's better to check with your agency on what type of science these vehicles use, currently (as something must have improved over the years). And secondly, if the vehicle deploys a side airbag without having a flip or roll, will it be covered in warranty? As they are quite expensive in the range of 5-10K AED.

@Lawrence_Chehimi I used CB radio (462 range) and they are pain as they are fixed unit and you cant step out with radio. We are using licensing free frequency (446 range), maybe that's why those CB units doesn't cover that range. -

Not that we know off. Etisalat coverage is more amazing than radio range. Even in liwa crossing (in 2018) we have had etisalat coverage that we never used the Thuraya sat phone that we bought for emergency use. Radio license are for companies who have requirement of 24/7 comms on radio devices like transport, security, aviation, construction, etc. Last we checked, it says each device has to have license with annual subscription of 1800-3000 dhs. -

Thank you everyone for making this winter welcome drive so successful and beautifully graced with your friends and family. As our families support our passion every week, so we also need to treat them with an outing in nature to meet our extended carnity family. Spending time with loved ones and chill with friends to see each other faces than just names on the convoy list was an amazing feeling. I'm sure many of you must have seen each other for the first time. Thank you all advisors to make this WWD a great success with your brilliant planning, ideas, support, and responsibilities, without each one of your crucial roles this wouldn't have been possible. My wife has uploaded her pictures to the gallery. Looking forward to seeing your clicks soon. https://carnity.com/gallery/category/1013-winter-welcome-drive-qudra-dubai-15-oct-2021 @Usman Basit @Joseph Sebastian @Muhammed Saeed @Super Safari Girl @Zed @Savio Fernandes @Stav @Danish Mohammad @Ahmed Wagdy @Tom V @WaYan @Enrico Biscaro @Paul Zeitoun @Rsjiv Samuel @Joji varghese @topgear @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil @Christopher Assal @Raman_Dbx @Senthil Kumar @Richard Franks @Junaid Iqbal @Adnan Halepota @Hitham mohamed @Premjit Vappala @Jerry Han @Sudhanva Sonawane @Trekado @hasan hamadeh @qaiser ijaz @Ahmed Abdelsalam @Morshedi @jodha singh shekhawat @Lawrence_Chehimi @AlexM @Kishore S @Wrangeld @Srikumar @Chaitanya D @Alex Raptor @Tbone @Lorenzo Candelpergher @GauravSoni @Frederic @Asif Hussain @M.Seidam @Mehmet Volga @Jeepie @Janarthan @Luca Palanca Falsini @Yousef Alimadadi

Firstly sharing workshop contacts is against Brand promotions here. Secondly we do not recommend or endorse any garages unlike all other off-road clubs. Thirdly, all vetted and ase certified mechanics will be off on Friday or on early morning drives. I know you know how to use google, but what I meant to explain is that when you will be in trouble you will be happy with any roadside mechanic or grease junkie to do anything to make your car move again. Eventually once you are on road, you may send your car to your trusted mechanic or agency. On site repair is the most shoddy work you will ever see BUT it will get you moving. We have seen mechanic fixing broken radiator with m-seal and cigg butt as a filler, using cola can tin in brake caliper, filling tranny oil with battery operated pump, etc. In short on-site repair is mostly a Jugaad (something that is made to serve a purpose on temporary basis).

Walkie Talkie Static and Interference

@Srikumar bought it for me last year from Dragon Mart. I think it was Shenda or sheng da shop who sells baofeng they supply Kangda too. Dragon Mart customer service center can guide you for shops who sells Kangda. Previously I was happy with Motorola too and have been using MT777 for almost a decade. But this Kangda is few notches above MT777 in clarity, range and battery life. -

Motorola cost 150 Kangda cost 300 Not much for trouble free drive experience with better range, battery life and clarity of comms. Thanks Fredy for introducing me to Kangda, so far it's amazing since almost a year now. -

Thanks Fredy for this post, every drive I have people whose radio have lots of interference, now I know where to guide them. -
What you are expecting is like mechanic on stand by kind of service that will cost you lot more as annual retainer than one time extreme recovery expense. I have been in such extreme situation twice in 15 years of offroading. First one was my ignorance or stupidity that I broke my front differential on LC100 in 2008. Second one was sheer bad luck or end of life of tie rod end that failed and twisted one tire right when steering was straight in 2019. Left the car and came back next day with mechanic and parts, all sorted within 500 dhs (I think). My realistic and practical advise, dont overthink, just be positive and stay sensible, that goes a long way.
