    Rain

Indeed it was quite s surprise today to see the rain as soon as we started our Friday drive. Lovely surprise
  2. Lovely set of dunes @Asif Hussain you found, looking forward to exploring them soon.
  3. So basically information shared within Xterra WhatsApp group should "ONLY" help Xterra WhatsApp group members?
  4. Indeed it's a waste, unfortunately, as they are discussing tech talk and not 10% life and death - save me now, matters.
  5. And I was referring to post all Xterra tech talk in online open, searchable place so anyone can reach whenever they want. You are referring to 10% life and death matter and I'm referring to 90% tech talk that forms any user educated decision on upgrades, modification, repair, service etc.
  6. This is what everyone thinks about themselves first without realizing that someday they do need that free searchable information when they are stuck high and dry. Btw, in today's day and age people search Dr. Google first before even calling their wife that they will be late coz of stuck. No google search will ever result whatsapp discussion or FB discussion and only show the forum or DIY sites results. In your safari days, back in 2000ish you must be calling friends but now people searching google for quick relief.
  7. In case of emergency too, information shared, posted and stored on forums will be 100% searchable and accessible round the clock than the WhatsApp group that majority of WhatsApp user treat like a trash bin due to 90% forwarder traffic and only 10% meaningful information. Maybe Deepak or Ayman can start the Xterra club here, and link all users that shoot instant notification when someone post's something.
  8. Please post this in classifieds section
  9. Why do Mercedes G wagon need two antennae on top like a horn in today's modern world where all GPS, radar, hunting gear antennas can be very well concealed in the body?
  10. Very nice thread @EmVarlet switching off the traction control / vsc / tsc / etc is already mentioned in the brief and I personally advised all drivers to spend 5 mins to google and find out on how to switch off the traction completely for your car. Without which they will just crawl and not being able to spin the wheel. For O/D off, it's a good suggestion but not a show stopper like a traction control and it's very helpful in long hill climb when you want to delay the upshift as much as possible. I do have OD off in my Pajero and use it only 5-10% of times and not always. Again different cars react differently and we will add this point too in the brief next time. More importantly, I feel that every absolute newbie driver who comes for the drive should need to read the basics in advance and discuss the issues here well in advance and figure out the instructions, shortcuts, and procedure to switch off traction, OD etc. Doing a side workshop is indeed sound nice but delaying the convoy of 20 cars by 3 hours is not a practical approach if we have 6 newbies x 30 mins for each car in googling how to switch off traction, OD, pulling fuses, SRS disabling etc. So every newbie either discuss these points in the forum and find a way out in advance. OR agree with Marshal / Crew to come half an early so that we can help OR spend half an hour after the drive so that we can help in figuring out this stuff. My two cents.
  11. Thanks, guys and I wish to see more and more members crossing this 1000 likes milestone in the coming year as Carnity has started the likes system in 2015-2016.
  12. Prado indeed is a good buy, and I'm glad that its V6 so it can be equally good for occasional offroad unlike V4. Get the Engine checked properly being 300K, and if it was maintained well in the past then you should be fine. In my company, we have Prado and LC's crossing 500k with very minimal wear and tear.
  13. I agree I'm waiting desperately to see the UFO too. Why all UFO goes to the US only and not in the Middle East or in UAE. Can someone please tell extraterrestrial beings that they do have a good fan following here too.
  14. You can call below scrapyard in Sharjah as they all deal in Mitsubishi Scraps.
  15. Do you mean this @ayman_khateeb wink wink.....?
  16. Congratulations to all offroaders who have been an integral part of this offroad club to receive a formal structure for grading all the offroaders. Thank you @Rahimdad for launching this new structure and thanks @Asif Hussain @skumar83 @EmVarlet in helping to develop this structure from your valued experience. This new structure has been implemented and very soon all offroaders will be assigned to their off-road ranks.
  17. What a brutal way to waste knowledge inside a closed box.
  18. Trip report: It was a perfect day and almost perfect weather yesterday. Everyone showed up on time and some before time respecting the punctuality and importance of timekeeping. We started the Absolute Newbie briefing sharp at 2:00 PM with a newly developed format that lasted for 40-45 minutes and clearing up a lot of doubts and sharing the tip and techniques needed for the first offroad drive. All newbie participated with full interaction and understood most of the points, as observed with their behavior during the drive. Thanks to all the Absolute Newbies: @Frederic Nuyttens @srini62 @Jamshad @Julien V @Brette for listening to all the advice and then follow it very precisely during the drive with a cool and calm approach. After the initial briefing, we have assigned the convoy numbering and made sure every car has a radio - very important for communication. As we started the drive, we kept on the track that goes on top of some flat dunes and sabka, to get all the absolute newbie a feel of going up and down the dunes, but without aggressively tackling the dunes. We all visited the camel farm and took some nice pictures and then continue to bump up the drive speed and level to slightly unpaved dunes and the whole convoy response was awesome with very few refusals and no stuck, pretty impressive for absolute newbie level. As soon as we entered the third leg of the drive, we faced with an unfortunate situation of a rollover of an experienced driver due to the reckless behavior ending with an unexpected result. To have such a situation in absolute newbie drive is quite disappointing as many of newbie thinks this may be the usual occurrence in the desert drive and breaks their confidence before it's being made. To be honest, if you drive sensibly and follow the convoy discipline no one will ever end up in such a situation. There are thousands of offroaders who we know personally and driving for decades but they have never had a roll or even a flip. So with this incident, all absolute newbie need to take away this lesson to be careful and follow the instructions, convoy discipline and not to drive recklessly. From my limited experience I can say that the natural or a situational chance for roll/flip is one in 10,000, but being reckless it increases to one in 10 or 100 (at max). So every offroader irrespective of their experience need to drive carefully and SENSIBLY at all times knowing the vehicle limitation and offroad dangers involved. After this mishap, entire convoy still moved ahead and two cars left behind to exit the flipped vehicle safely to the road. As we were in the third leg of the drive, which is slightly more involved due to medium dunes and cross track closer to the pink rock area. This time lot of newbies struggled and learn their way out with the tips and tricks we shared in briefing and with help of experienced drivers advice on site. After an hour of struggling patch, we all reached the pink rock and had a nice break with lots of snacks and drinks. Few expert drivers start testing their vehicle by scaling the Pink rock to the maximum height and others were simply enjoying the company and socializing. By 7 PM we all started to descend on track from the top of Pink rock area and head to 2nd Decemeber (meeting point) to exit on road. Overall it was a wonderful newbie drive with very healthy and enthusiastic participation and we all made new friends from different parts of the Emirates. Many thanks to @Rahimdad @Asif Hussain @skumar83 @EmVarlet for supporting this absolute newbie drive and also helping in developing our first absolute newbie briefing as per our new offroad structure - upcoming shortly. Please share your pics and videos in gallery: https://carnity.com/gallery/category/91-absolute-newbie-offroad-drive-pink-rock-12-oct-2018/ All absolute newbies, please share your feedback here:
  19. There are so many General service workshop listed from Dubai in Carnity Business listing section. They all provide special pricing and honest service for Carnity members, select any which is close to your area like in Rashidiya, Al Quoz, Aweer, Deira etc. and get the OBD Scan to get the codes (max 100 dhs). And come back and let us know the exact codes so that experts can advise you the next course of action. I seriously think your known garage is not well equipped to advise you in the right direction, as ECU failure is one in 10,000 and more often some of the sensor, wiring or connector fails that throw some error so that you can debug in the right direction. And due to this sensor or connector failure, all light comes up at the same time. https://carnity.com/business_listing/car-services/general-service-workshop/?advanced_search_submitted=1&csrfKey=88a330f554c7c70fb7391466ab9d93c7&content_field_30[1]=Dubai&sortby=primary_id_field&sortdirection=desc&record_type=all&time_frame=show_all
  20. Or maybe fines linked with salary percentage, will teach big boys lesson equally as for guy earning 50K per month, 1-2k for fine is nothing and he will budget this as misc expense every month. However if same become 10-20k then it will pinch his pocket and he will soon start respecting road and drivers
  21. They are saying this since the last 10 years for electric cars, hybrid cars, and autonomous cars, but the problem is there 10-year countdown hasn't started yet. I don't think this is possible in Dubai either unless you got so bored to reach Oman by picking random roads.
  22. So god damn true: It's just a house of showroom zero kms cars
