Hi @Probir Mukherjee The first thing you will need is a police report, which you can get from the nearest Police station. Once you have that paper, you can submit it to your insurance for a claim. Depending on the type of insurance you have (third party, or full comprehensive with offroad cover) you can make a claim. As the Landcruiser bumpers are quite low, it could help to get a bashplate / skidplate installed, which is a 8mm or 10mm aluminum plate that you can mount underneath the vehicle and that is folded upwards on the front. In the next occurance you would make a nosedive this one will take the impact.

DRIVE REPORT Murquab is an area that we normally preserve for Fewbie and above level, but recently we were able to find a clean track that leads us all the way through up to Solar Park. Taking that opportunity, and a massive convoy of 18 cars did come with some challenges but all did amazingly well. From the deflation point in Murquab, it looked everyone was excited to explore this new area and see where it would bring us. With the help of @Wrangeld to get the massive convoy lined up, i found myself already in Solar Park while the back of the convoy was still on the tarmac. Many people ask me why we don't increase the drive count, and one should understand the convoy dynamics of adding a few cars and the consequences: every car added will easily 30m length to your convoy. Having said that, everyone did fantastic on this first stretch through Murqab and the sight of some gazelles is always welcome. You all did so well that after 2 hours we reached the exit point, so i decided to cross the road and make our way through Qudra South. Recently some construction has been going on to extend the high voltage lines, and we came across a whole lot of road blockages and had to drive along the construction road to be able to enter the long range dunes. We started to have some small first stucks and refusals over there, and also helped out a couple that wanted to go camping but got themselves stuck. The next stuck was a nasty one, with an F-150 crested along the dunes on its belly. After quite some shoveling we decided to take the little blue and give the truck a gentle sidewards tug to pull it off the crest. The recovery took some time and we saw the sun coming down faster than a Swiss skier from the Alps. The last part consisted of making our way out to the exit in the dark, which is for beginners a more challenging task, as suddenly they have to drive closer to the vehicle in front and follow the EXACT same tracks, or they would get themselves into trouble. It took all the support from @Jeepie @Kalahari @Wrangeld to keep the convoy moving in one single pace and with the right distance in between. We made it out and passed a lot of people who decided to have gatherings with 30-40 people and more doing BBQ and music. Qudra on a winter evening is becoming a bit like Global Village it seems. Special thanks to @Melenany for being an excellent second lead, totally in tune with the truck and re-directing where needed. A massive thanks to Everyone in the convoy as you guys did so well and took on the challenge of driving with me See you guys soon back in the sand !

DRIVE RSVP IS NOW CLOSED Drive Plan: Starting off nearby the Murquab Mosque we will head into the nice dunes that this area has to offer. This will be a relaxing drive where mostprobably we will be able to spot some nice gazelles. The plan is to exit nearby the Solar Park so please bring a compressor. As soon as you arrive, please start deflating to 13-14psi if you have road tyres, or 11-12psi if you have offroad tyres. We will be using Carnity Channel 2: 446.03125 Mhz Make sure you all have a flag, radio, and shovel, as these are strcitly mandatory for every drive. See you guys at 2:30PM tomorrow !

You can request them here by sending a message on the topic: The belt sling with 20t capacity is good for towing onroad or offroad, but should be avoided for recovery as it does not stretch. As you are still a Newbie you don't need to rush to buy a rope, it is only from Intermediate level onwards a requirement.
-
@Rahimdad has the Viking Ropes with Soft Shackles. -Speedex and Ace have the AOR recovery ropes. -Any industrial hardware shop, even Speedex have the webbing 3" or 4" webbing slings that can be used to tow as well.

Hi @syed salman raza Do you mean a "tow" rope or a "recovery" rope ? - Tow ropes (Polyester) are used to tow a car, not to perform a recovery (pull). The basic petrol station tow rope is only strong enough to tow a vehicle on the road, and should never be used for anything offroad. - Recovery ropes (nylon) or snatch straps are made to perform an offroad recovery. These are the ropes we use to recover other vehicles in the desert. Have a a look below: - A Polyester Tow Rope is meant to tow a vehicle on the road, NEVER for off-road recovery. These are the basic tow ropes you will find at the petrol station. - A Webbing Sling is a Polyester rope that you can buy in hardware stores and is meant for industrial lifting, but can also be used as tow rope in specific cases (to re-direct a stuck vehicle with gentle tugs). This material does not stretch. - A Snatch rope (flat) or Kinetic Recovery Rope (round) is a rope made of Nylon that allows to stretch for about 20%, and is extremely useful for offroad recovery as the stretching creates a kinetic energy and the recoil effect helps in recovering vehicles stuck in the sand. When choosing a kinetic recovery rope, you should select a rope that has a breaking strength of 2-3 times the weight of the vehicle you will recover. For example; if you recover a Nissan Xterra which weighs 2 ton, the breaking strength of the rope should be at least 6 tons. Most recovery ropes have 10-15 Tons breaking strength. The reason for this is that the forces involved when a vehicle is completely stuck in the sand are far higher. Our club uses both the Viking Kinetic rope as well as the AOR Kinetic recovery rope with excellent results. The Viking rope costs about 350AED with a bag and 2 soft shackles included, while the AOR kinetic rope costs about 390AED without soft shackles. (AOR soft shackle cost 155 AED per piece). A shackle is a device that allows you to connect your rope to your tow point. These used to be mostly rated metal D-shackles, but nowadays the soft shackles, that were well known in the sailing world have become in offroading too. A soft shackle will be safer to use as the less metal involved the better during recoveries. More information on using these Kinetic recovery ropes and shackles can be found in below post:
