  1. Drive Brief Hone your off-road skills in Sharjah's majestic red sands under the shadow of the mighty Fossil Rock. There's a reason this area is so popular with off-roaders, it offers everything and is a perfect training ground to hone and develop your off-road skills. We will meet in the shade of the Mahafiz trees and make our way towards the rock, whilst doing so we will encounter lots of challenges and hopefully even get to practice some climbs and side sloping. This drive is organized in full compliance with the COVID19 guidelines. We expect every member that joins this drive to go through below information and and strictly follow these guidelines in order not to jeopardize someone's health, and to ensure we can keep organizing these drives safely. MUST READ AND TOTALLY AGREE: COVID19 Precautions MUST READ AND TOTALLY AGREE: BAN POST Two Way Radio Guidelines Every Offroader brings his own radio, programmed to the frequencies described in below advice topic. We will not share spare radios or program your radio on the drive. If you need assistance in programming the radio, post a topic on the Carnity website with your questions and we will help you out. Make sure your radio is fully charged. It will be your only way of communication while driving. 3. Oh my goodness, I am sorry ! And now my mind is drawing a blank. Haha That's a good thing, means you must've had a good drive I recall some chatter between yourself and Shehab , perhaps a small refusal but as you said, at the back of the convoy is very challenging.
  4. Drive Report We started off in the low dunes to prepare ourselves for the many challenges that lay ahead. Once we had found our desert wheels we headed in to the tall dunes that spread out in front of us. So much went on in this drive that its hard to pinpoint one thing. We made it to the top of the first dune, with one refusal, then we had a pop out on @Amir Amiri tank. Well done to @Alexander Alcalaand @Shehab Alawadhifor resolving that. Fixing a pop out on a Ram is no easy task and it took some time to resolve As the convoy climbed up, one by one, we had another refusal , however we eventually all made it to the top. We swept down and heading to the next challenge . This proved somewhat challenging for @Rizwan Waheed and with a crest and the sand churned up like a clam chowder I decided to reattempt at another point, determined to make sure the convoy got on top of the dunes. We climbed and turned and swept around , with refusals and a distinct lack of convoy discipline as well as some suspect comms, but we were getting there, and I was determined we would find a route that all could manage. We spent some time sweeping around the dunes, not quite making it to the top but we were moving. With the sun setting and the tourists arriving an extra element of danger was added, this was the only other traffic we saw in these mighty dunes but it meant we had to keep our wits about us. The entire convoy ate up the low level dunes as we powered our way with speed to what would prove to be our last dune and we managed to get up with only one slight refusal, but it was easily resolved and we went flying down the other side, only to hear that 4 cars were still at the base on the other side of a star shaped dune. By now it was pitch black . I went back and found the detached part of the convoy, which was no easy feat , @Shehab Alawadhi climbed one peak and waved his torch in order for me to see him and allowed me to get back to the rest and bring them around. It was time to exit, even then we still had refusals on low dunes, and the convoy became detached again. This time @Alexander Alcala lit up the sky for the back to see the route. We darted through dunes and made our way to a track which took us to the road. I’m going to be brutally honest….it’s an IM drive, I didn’t expect so many refusals. In fact, I was shocked . I thought our biggest challenge would be the heat, but we had so many refusals that the cars were able to cool down. I even changed tact to try and get some more drive time. @Arman – Thank you for your second lead, and excellent driving. @Jon M – I think just one refusal. Great driving @Rizwan Waheed – You were too gas shy my friend, this became apparent when you climbed the last dune. We need to floor it to climb these dunes, when you lose momentum , wiggle the wheel, keep pushing it. Don’t get me wrong, it happens to us all from time to time but at IM we know we need to really push our cars, especially in this area. Well done for persevering and finding your groove late on. @Amir Amiri – You managed most of the challenges, the pop out was unfortunate. Please do keep convoy discipline. I know it’s difficult when the car in front has a refusal, but we can’t keep overtaking. It’s dangerous. That said it was a good drive from you @Rob H – A frustrating day for you but you did very well to react to what was happening in front of you. I don’t think you had a refusal all day. @Gok Krish – Same as Rob, you did well to react to what was happening in front. I don’t think you had any refusals either. @Goutam – a few refusals that weren’t communicated meant the back end of the convoy became detached . You drive well, and I know you self-recover and reattempt without issues, but I need to know if I have to stop the convoy. @Abu Muhammad – I think just a couple of refusals and the last one, a crest, wasn’t picked up on the walkie talkie. These things happen, sure I myself got stuck on the most innocuous dune after coming back across to help you. @Shehab Alawadhi – thank you for trying to communicate everything that was happening at the back, for helping with the recoveries and the pop out. A huge debt of thanks to the support team of @Arman@Shehab Alawadhiand @Alexander Alcala you guys did an amazing job in support. All in all, it was a challenging day, but these things happen on drives, we never know what will happen out there and that is why we love this sport. Yesterday could have been any one of us, our cars under perform, we have an off day. It happens and we should always expect the unexpected. Until the next adventure
  5. Good morning fellow adventurers, We are meeting at 4pm. The weather forecast is predicting the temp will be 40degs. It will start to cool as we drive into the evening, and should be around 37degs once we're truly inside this area. We will climb, sweep and cross, at times it will feel relentless....you absolutely must keep and eye on your dials! I'd say it would also be beneficial to have a bottle of coolant (whatever one is good for your car) just to be on the safe side, although I roared around dunes yesterday and everything temp wise was fine, But better safe than sorry. So... y'all ready for this? BRING IT! We shall use Radio Channel 2 (two) My proposed convoy is as follows: Driver Car Rank Position @Foxtrot Oscar Black Xterra Marshal Lead @Arman Sliver Wrangler IM 2nd Lead @Jon M White Wrangler IM 3rd @Rizwan Waheed Pajero LWB IM 4th @Amir Amiri Ram IM 5th @Rob H Tundra IM 6th @Alexander Alcala Grey Wrangler Adv CF @Gok Krish Grey Wrangler IM 8th @Goutam Yellow Wrangler IM 9th @Dodi Syahdar Raptor IM 10th @Abu Muhammad Grey Sequndra IM 11th @Shehab Alawadhi Red F150 IM Sweep See you all soon P.S If you can't make it let me know now, we have a considerable waitlist
  6. Drive report It had been 8 months since I last ventured into the magnificent dunes around Mahafiz and Fossil Rock. Which, if truth be told, is shameful on my part as these sands have absolutely everything, including heavy traffic. However, a Friday afternoon in the blazing sun is not for everyone and so it proved to be as we saw just one other convoy in the 30+km we covered. We started off at the tree shade and headed out into the sands in a timely fashion and headed down the track. I tried to pick a route that was as vegetation free as possible in order to reach our first play area. Once we had reached our destination the convoy took it in turns to gently navigate the challenge. My jaw was on the floor as each and every member took it in their stride with barely an issue. In fact we only had one refusal but the challenge was completed at the second attempt. And so it was to be for the entire trip, we tackled no fewer than 11 (eleven) slopes and bowls, sweeping up, down and along them with the entire convoy absolutely smashing it! It was such a beautiful sight to see so many newbie drivers in control of their vehicles and mastering the basics of offroading. As we neared the foot of the mighty rock we encountered some congestion from a couple of kamikaze yahoos but the back of the convoy held firm and managed that situation , with @Shaaz Sha rerouting them away from any possible danger. And one by one we climbed, with not a single refusal, to the top of the rock! Incredible! I don’t think I have ever been with a convoy that hasn’t had a least one refusal climbing to the top of Fossil Rock. I shouldn’t have been surprised given everything this brilliant convoy had demonstrated earlier in the drive. We didn’t take the steep route down, mainly due to the presence of the yahoos, I didn’t trust then not to come flying down behind someone, but we did sweep around and made our way to the exit point. @Glenn Waters- you handle your Montero extremely well, you had an absolutely flawless drive. Great job. @James Thorn – The lift and wheel change has certainly helped you get the most our of your Lexus, I think you had just one refusal but smashed it at the second attempt. Really nice driving today, I’m enjoying watching you progress. Well done! @OSKAR MALISZEWSKI – Wow! Your first Newbie and you absolutely smashed it! Looking forward to driving with you again soon. @Saddaquat Tanvir – Just a couple of refusals that you self-recovered from with aplomb, no drama! Really nice driving well done. @Charbel Yazbeck – My word , when I think back to the first drive I had with you and then look at you now. You’ve really started to get a hold of your car and your progress is fantastic. Keep it up, you’re driving really well. @TT_Dubai – Tim, flawless, nuff said! @WaYan – Great drive, in total control and always ready to steer down when needed. That is the mark of a good off-roader. Looking forward to our next drive. Huge thanks to @Ammar Naji who once again delivered a masterclass on how to be the perfect 2nd lead. 2nd lead is an incredibly important task at Newbie level, I can’t thank you enough, you leave enough space and allow me to check routes to ensure it is passable for all members of the convoy and follow my instructions to the letter . Great job. P.s you also had a great drive today .well done Further thanks to the support team of @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ and @Shaaz Sha, I don’t think you've ever had such a quiet day haha, not a shovel or a rope required the entire trip and it’s not as if I didn’t challenge the convoy. Still it was great to know you were there and great re routing from @Shaaz Sha to avoid potential danger from the kamikaze two. P.S @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQwhen do I get to lead Rafay? @Abdul Rafay-S😝 Thank you to each and every one of you for communicating well, listening to and following instruction and driving so well. It was a pleasure to lead you all. I had so much fun! Until our next adventure 😊
