Dear Desertnauts. Before the short briefing for tomorrow drive, I have just added the meeting and deflation point on the drive's post. We will meet and deflate here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/MR8j8TtNwyhKbRLe9 Consider arriving a little before the scheduled time, so we can deflate before getting ready to go. A thorough briefing about off-roading notions (mechanical needs, different terrains, driving skills, warnings, convoy discipline, etc.) will be given before leaving. We'll find some shaded area to conduct it. Please make sure you bring a fully charged radio to the drive. There may not ba any spare radios available, and without a fully functioning radio no members will be permitted to drive, for safety reasons. In spite of the vegetation that has grown abundant in this and other areas of the UAE, we'll do our best to find, and drive on, the cleanest possible dunes, so that all the necessary off-roading skills may be safely taught and practiced. Jakob · Mitsubishi Pajero Grey 2015. · previous experience - just tried the 4WD in sand few times ( got stuck once and self-recovered .. thanks to youtubers 😊 ) · has front and rear tow hooks/eyelets. · got a programmable radio and safety flag.

Hi @Jakob T, The Pajero has a TRACTION OFF button but it unfortunately does not completely deactivate the traction and abs system. It will do so in 4L but you shouldn't be offroading in 4L but in 4H or 4HLc. 4L is only meant for recovery and self recovery. We don't create Whatsapp groups for each event. All information is here on the drive topic. We do have a Whatsapp drive notification group that is used to announce our weekly drives on Monday.

Hello @Frederic , thank you for all above! few doubts more. 1. some cars have a TRACTION OFF button and traction and abs shuts off when shifting to 4L. is it not enough? do we have to manually disconnect? 2. is there any whatsapp group for this trip ? I'm not yet on any if so. thnx J

Hello @Jakob T. Thanks for the question. Couldn't give you a batter answer than @Frederic's. I would say that if you (or the garage) don't have enough time to check fix your rear bumper, we'll find way to minimize any possible damage to it, if any may occur at all. Many Pajero's such has yours have come into the desert with Carnity, and exited unscathed 😁. Our philosophy is to teach off-roading skills so that members learn to maximize their knowledge based on their stock car, before they move on with modifications. Frederic's suggestions are just to better protect your car. I would add that it's best to remove the rear bumper even before you consider a rear skid plate, at virtually no cost. If you'll enjoy your outing, and wish to further pursue off-roading, than you can go one step further. Looking forward to seeing you.

Good morning @Jakob T and welcome to Carnity Offroad Club! The Pajero is totally fine for this trail, but there is just one weakness: the rear bumper scoops up a lot of sand during driving in the dunes and eventually comes off. The best solution is installing a rear skidplate. But if you don't find the time, an alternative option is to remove the rear bumper. Sounds like a lot of work but in reality i takes less than 10mins: If you however prefer to install a rear skidplate, Machinehead in Al Quoz does a fine job. @Pierre-andre Nutte also got one installed together with a front bashplate and flag holder bracket just last week on his stock Pajero. Before entering the sand you will need to deactivate the traction control as well. Hello 👋, Leads, just a question. My car is pajero 2015, 3.5 l, 5 door, Dunlop17 inch , AT 20 tyres, stock bumper without any skid plate. I plan to modify if it can do a moderate level desert drive only. That's why I joined to test it. Please reply whether this trail is okay for my car. Thanks J
