Open the radiator cap or remove the top hose and look inside. You'll soon see if there's any corrosion. When the engine is cold of course.

That is if he has a corolla if he has a car like Acadia or any gr engines that Toyota or Lexus have then I surely recommend a visit to workshop as he will enjoy a hell of time fixing that top pipe back....
