plug cable change is required?

what is plug cable

and do i need to change it in major service

the dealers are charging me to change it

Spark plug cables are known as HT leads and they are due for change every 40k km. Its not big job but replace with original ones only.

are there any warning signs as such that will tell me to change them?

if there is a problem with starting the car then the spark plugs should be changed.
