stearing wheel problem

i have a very well maintained cx7 which is was bought brand new in 2006. for the past a month or so i have noticed the the stearing wheel has started getting harder to move and now it takes a lot of effort. what could be the problem as i have checked the wheels that are good

Check the Power Steering Fluid PSF, it might need to be topped up.

Or steering pump is getting weaker and dying, wait until dies as it takes long time to dye if its weak and its expensive to change.
