Keep changing the gear from N to D is BAD?

I a new driver wants to know if i keep changing the from N to D when waiting at the signal will i be damaging my car?

My friend say that i might.

in a way yes it is spoiling your gear. Try minimizing the changing gear like i u know its hardly 1 min signal and you will get through then dont shift and use your common sense at other times.
